This page is getting so much activity now o.o I think it's all you~ xD And your new ham.

Anyhow, as for the piddle color...you may just want to put into consideration the stress of a new home, possible new diet introductions, different water, so on and so forth.

If you do add more vegetables and such into the diet right now, just be careful not to do too much. They do need relatively lower amounts of water as compared to other animals, so wet tail is an easy thing to get with too much water.

So glad you found Payton's toy! I couldn't remember exactly what it was but I think I found it (Hartz brand, Gear-Head?) and I just kept forgetting to say anything. xD

I think it was two of us getting new hamsters at the same time!

Good point on the piddle color... We'll see if things settle out in a few days. He seems to be adjusting well though. I'm going to stress about his diet for months probably till I'm convinced I'm not going to kill him. How often do you suggest giving peas? Cause I think he could eat them all day, every day. Had them gone before he even started on the broccoli today.

And we never lost Payton's toy, it's just... badly damaged, so we're looking for more. I haven't even heard if they found any there or not, but yeah, that's the toy.

And just cause he's so darned cute.

omg i luv hamsters! i have a lil hammie named basil, i cant tell wat breed he is but hes still so cute ^^ hes my first hammie and hes soooo cute ^^ hammies r meh fav animal ^^ but i also have a bit of a prob wif him v.v

he wont chew his chew sticks, i mean i have plenty of them for him but he just seems to not like them and i was thinking bout his teeth over growing. i even have a little log for him that says its a treat but he wont even eat that :/ i see him chewing at it fom time to time but, he wont chew anything besides his food :/

Have you tried hard, high quality dog treats? Most of the sites I've poked around on suggest that for helping keep their teeth worn down, and my guy apparently likes them, as the bit I left in his food bowl is completely gone now.

Really? i never new that. i thought dog treats and stuff like that would kill him off.

Well, you'll want high quality dog treats. I have sweet potato and duck that I stole from my dog for Cricket, and it was gone by the end of the night. You wouldn't want to feed this often of course, but it will help with the teeth a little.

xD Yeah, though I haven't gotten mine just yet. I think the lady said she was bringing him in next Thursday so I could meet him...we had to choose a day we knew I would be there. I'm not sure if i'm bringing him home that day though.

So though i'm at the point where...I feel like paying someone to make me a bin cage. I'm really afraid to mess up. I'm NOT good with cutting things...I don't know if I have the right tools. Maybe my Father in Law will help me out. I wish I had my Dad around still, he use to love helping me with projects. I just drew the lines, and he cut things...xD

I have everything I already need for him (Except Bin/supplies for bin) due to all of the hams i've owned, and my problem of hoarding supplies/cages but you know, it's situations like this, that are the reason I keep things. xD Parents always told me that when I throw something out is when I need it.

I knew the toy was damaged, just couldn't remember seeing if you found a fix/found more to buy. xD

If you have peas, they're one it wouldn't hurt to give everyday if you so wanted to. But if it's an every day thing try only doing fresh peas, or frozen/no preservatives. So no canned or jarred obviously xD

And don't worry, I still stress at random with diets I do with my pets. I mean, it seems like the "best diet" is ALWAYS changing, or something new is being discovered that will help them live longer.

xDD he is adorable
I love hamsters.

i got a syrian and a chinese one

The thing I like about the look of bin cages is they seem really easy to make, and even if you mess up, it's not like tubs are all that expensive! My problem with them is I like a better view, and they always seem to have that plasticy not quite clear look to them.

Haven't found more yet, and I really think it's beyond fixing...

Oh good! Frozen's the way we've been going, because I already had those on hand for myself and the betta! Frozen veggies too. Today he got a little bit of sweet potato and some califlower, seemed fond of both.

Sad that I can't give him tomatoes though. I have such a great supply of them and I'll never be able to eat them all!

You know you'll bring your hamster home the first day you have him! How could you not? And then you'll get tons of pictures to share with all of us!

So, saw your playgrounds, and they looked amazing and fun, so I ran to the petstore and grabbed the only one they had.

No one said how much of a b***h they are to snap all those stupid pieces together! Or how they like to all snap apart while you're in the middle of it! Finally have something put together, but there's no way I'm changing it unless I end up with another set to add on with...

You know, I wish I had totes at my dispense like I do with other items in the shop. xD I don't like that you can't see through them either. =( But I Don't want to get a bird cage then have the need to modify, or I would grab the one my groomer is selling. xD I love decorating, I love designing, I just don't like the work part. So the simpler, the better.
If tanks were easier to move and what not, i'd do a big tank. But I mean, i'm just renting, so if I ever needed to move...well the last move was hard enough. xD I tossed EVERYTHING into my car, with 2 friends helping me get things. xD And all my pets went into boxes. The fun part? One cat was free roaming in the car, claws in my shoulder/neck xDD But I ran out of room and carriers. Had my in-law's suburban full too. Of just cages...
And then there was the Betta with his water going everywhere xD
But in all fairness I wasn't able to collapse some cages due to lack of pliers. But I mean. tanks. @___@ As is, if I keep this corn snake...he has to be in a 20G tank at the least. At least tubs are light weight, and if for some reason I oh I dont know...moved a state away, and couldn't fit a tote in my vehicle, that's not losing much. xD

I love how some people make their cages though. I <3 google images, ha

You need more pets! Ones that eat tomatoes =D We always had our own garden, and tomatoes were a biggy for my parents. And we couldn't eat them all. So i'd go out and share with the horses lol. Along with the mass of pears from the 2 pear trees, and the apples. Looking back it probably wasn't the best for them but, those horses were allowed to do as they pleased for the most part as long as they stayed in our yard, and they did. xD

Frozen is the easiest/cheapest! Well, I guess some would say cans are cheaper but have you ever compared prices? It's crazy. I mean, we have a low cost store here called Aldi, where you get all sorts of canned goods and cheaper goods in general, but even so...frozen is still cheaper. Plus, to my knowledge, it's healthier?

I probably will want to bring him home xD But I won't if I don't have a cage setup yet for him. You know I don't even know his name o_O I just know he's a grouchy syrian who I assume is older. xD

I know, the big tanks are a pain! But if I ever do move I'll need lots of help anyway... Rolltop desk, light table, 2 big tanks, large couch... No way I could get all that stuff without help! Hell, I'm not even sure how my dad and brother got the desk in through the door.

Noooo. No more pets! I'm sure I'm already pushing my landlord's kindness. They okayed Payton, and said that the no pets rule really applied to things like cats and dogs and birds, but I think that a dog, snake, hamster, and some fish is plenty.

I actually have a costco card, which is useful when it comes to things like fruits and veggies. Glad I checked before giving Cricket a slice of orange though! That wouldn't have been good apparently. If anything the problem with getting fruit from Costco is it's hard to finish it before it goes bad!

Well i adopted her about 5 monthes back she looks quite young. i will say shes about 7-8 monthes old. she wasn't used to being handled. But I promised i will be able to handle her.

chinese hamster are really good if you have had the experience of previous hamsters. i grew up with hamster so i am pretty used to taming them.

i would never advised a chinese hamster to new hamster owner i always say syrians are good for a first time because they are more gentle and bigger.

At the moment Lola is use to being handled but she keeps getting stressed when i try a daily routine of picking her up and handling her. so i what i do is only handle her when i am cleaning her and then build it up from there.

SHE IS SO ADORABLE THOUGH. i will try and post a picture up later on. The other thing about Lola is she is tiny and fast compared to squiggle who is slower and bigger.

If you get the chancei would go for it chinese hamsters are a real experience. they DONT live in pairs though, although they can live together its not advised
