For a suggestion you might add something about what to do in case you buy a pregnant guinea pig and don't know it. Just some basics about the extra care they need.
And I don't believe I saw anything about taking them outside occasionally? Maybe i'm wrong. Perhaps add that too.
<3 Looks great though!

I had a guinea pig that was pregnant and I didn't know it until she gave birth. Just make sure they have plenty of water and food, maybe give them extra vitamins. I enjoy giving mine raisin and they like salt licks too. When the babies are born DON'T TOUCH THEM!. It's like any parent, if they smell any scent but thier own they might reject them. Let the moth do it's own thing. If you have a baby that's being rejected, go to a local pet store and buy kitty forumla and a small bottle to nurse them. when they can eat solid food and rely less on thier mothers milk is when you can seperate them. Normally the rejected ones will take a little longer to eat solids, but mine got thier only a few day after.

*revives thread*
IT'S ALIIIVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! *lightning flashes*

Anyway...why are there so many disliked on this thread? It's awsome! D;

Would you mind adding this ferret thread to your other informative thread links? Ferrety Ferrets It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! ^^
So sorry for not being on this thread for ages. Lots of stuff was going on and I then kind of forgot about it sweatdrop

Anyway, I am currently doing a lot of updating on the main page, as quick as I can (and I am slow, so don't expect instant results). If anybody has any suggestions on info I should add, or what the last reserved thread should be that would be great! But you may want to wait a few days and start suggesting things once I have all the info I want up.

How is everybody's guinea pigs going? Mine have been bickering quite a bit, I think they need a more roomy cage, which I am working on, but parents ya know. Luckily there have been no full on battles, and no blood yet. They were ok until Pumba passed away, he seemed to be the peace keeper for them. I am hoping that once they are in a larger cage, as well as normal floortime, they will bicker a bit less and start to get on.
Other then that though, they are great!
they squeak a lot
So suggestion to adding to the front page:

You have a thing about why not to breed guinea pigs, but you should add something for "What if the guinea pig I brought home is pregnant?"

I mean, i'm right now baby sitting one that came to us pregnant. We unknowingly bought it that way, and wouldn't purposely breed one we don't know about in the first place as my boss has her own breeding stock. But luckily I caught this little mistake before someone bought it, and I took her home with me. I'm -hoping- she lives because she would have had to have been bred at 3 weeks old, because that's how old she was when she came to us, and the guy we got her from lets his pigs run rampant together. Which is of course, awfully too young, as they should be bred at 4/5 months at the earliest.

But I could just imagine if some poor kid took this guinea pig home and suddenly it started getting bigger, and bigger, and they didn't know why. They either handle it wrong or don't give it enough Vitamin C or the improper diet for a pregnant pig, Then one day, they wake up, and Momma Pig (may be/ is) dead and there's either babies running around or babies dead. (I'm fearing the worst with her to be honest)

And on that note: Something about helping babies who lose their Mom from that accidental pregnancy brought home. They may already be eating/drinking on their own but they still need milk replacer.

Great suggestion, I have a small bit about pregnant guinea pigs in one of the posts, but I would like to move it to the breeding post and add more info on how to handle it

A fantastic thread and full of a lot of good information. It's good to see the knowledge being spread so more people know how to properly care for their guinea pigs.

I myself have four guinea pigs, one is currently at a guinea pig specialists home as he's having toilet troubles and his cage mate has gone with him. I miss them dearly as they are my oldest but I am waiting to get a phone call to come and pick them back up. heart

My other two are my youngest boars. I have four boars. They really are lovely little animals and I wouldn't trade them for any other pet.

Oh I hope you get to pick them really soon! 4? I would love to get another pair of boars, but for now I am just not going to get any more pets, as I don't know where I'm going to be living in the next few years etc.

What are yours names?

Make sure to get it a friend! They really do do best in pairs biggrin make sure to take into account how much they will cost you to. Despite being small they eat alot and can mess up bedding pretty quick, so can actuually cost a little more money then people assume
