The difference:
- Graphic: n. a product of the graphic arts, as a drawing or print,
or a computer-generated image.
As you can see by definition, graphics are computer generated images whereas signs are just a picture of someone holding a piece of paper with text on it, not computer generated nor created/filtered through programs on computers. Anyone can take a picture of them-self, but not everyone can designing a profile. The two are different, one is photography and the other design, so why are they linked together as personalized graphics?
About sign shops: Sign shops are places where users can purchase signs or pictures of other users. Typically, these signs will have an actual picture of the user selling the signs holding up a piece of paper (or sign) with the username of the one who is purchasing it.
** Sign shops have also started to become more explicit. Owners start offering cleavage/panty signs, which isn't reasonable on any level. Although many users who have posted here are enraged by this, this petition is not targeting the types of signs sold, just sign shops in general.
About graphics shops: Graphics shops are places where people create custom banners and more using programs such as photoshop, gimp and several others. These shops actually edit and create graphics from scratch by using renders, filters, brushes, etc from programs.
The issues: You go to the personalized graphics forum for graphics. People who come to the personalized graphics forum to find graphics run into the problem of sifting through several pages and shops actually looking for a place that sells them. Why? Sign shops are becoming very popular and are knocking most graphics shops off the front page so users looking for them might have a harder time actually finding one. This results in the making of request threads or a thread where someone requests a certain graphic. Though these are being pushed off the front page as well, due to the influx of sign shops.
What could happen: If sign shops were to get their own sub-forum it would considerably stop the amount of request threads and make it much more easier to navigate through actual graphics shops, making it easier for other users to get what they're looking for. The sub-forum would also stop confusion about what is actually being sold.
CREATING A NEW SUB-FORUM FOR SIGN SHOPS WOULD BENEFIT BOTH SIDES.
Again, this petition is by no means targeting or looking to get rid of sign shops. IT is simply to have them moved to their OWN sub-forum. Graphic designers AND sign makers have never really thought of themselves to be the same, both sides agree. By creating a forum the two would be put into their proper forums making it easier for people to find what they're looking for.

We've finalized some rules regarding the control of sexual content being sold, while I think that having a dedicated area for sign shops is reasonable too, let me check real quick with the mods. If it makes sense, we can make the change by next week.

Users in the personalized graphics forum are getting very aggravated with the increase in sign shops. (Some of these shops are selling cleavage/panty signs too, isn't this a little too explicit?)
People looking for actual graphics are finding it hard to even find graphics shops in the PERSONALIZED GRAPHICS forum. I have created a petition and users want it to happen, sign makers don't consider themselves graphic artists, and vice versa.
The art requests got their own sub-forum, why can't sign shops?
Someone even tried contacting a mod about it. The mod was from the pg forum and they said that he/she wasn't a mod for that forum. That is also a problem.
