One of my periodic, brief returns to this site revealed the dire state of the marketplace to me. Wow, is all I can say. I remember designing dream avatars on tektek.org just 1-2 years ago, deciding how I could budget and earn enough gold to make them happen. But seeing that every item on my wishlist skyrockets over 25 mil in price today, when they used to only cost less than 1 mil, kind of turns my stomach. I agree with a lot of what I've seen on this thread: new users will undoubtedly be intimidated -- at least, I know I would be. And even established members on this site will likely lose interest. Websites like these are supposed to relieve stress from the real world, not mimic it. However, it's pretty disenchanting to see that Gaia is primarily doing the latter.

It's been 4 years since I last played this game and I've returned recently just to see that damn marketplace inflation and it's just pathetic how this site revolves around Gaia cash now. It's not newb friendly and it's so damn hard to earn gold. Don't just sit there and count your money. Please bring back old Gaia.

I hope admins and mods will take notice (which they probably did by now) and take action to what's happening here.
