I can't afford any items right now because I don't sell anything anymore .__.
I, personally, would just feel so stupid by trying to sell something for 10 million when it used to be sold for 500k.

This has been my fear.

I had invested my gold in items that used to be worth value. Now thanks to the marketplace tanking, my items are worth nothing and I can't afford anything anymore. Even though I received a trade worth over 400,000,000 gold from another disheartened member who decided to give away his gold and quit Gaia all together, with the gold that I had previously and the value of my items, I would only be able to afford maybe 1 item.

Unfortunately, Gaia has become a money business. And the Gaia community is so naïve for paying actual cash to buy items. USE GOLD AND STOP FALLING FOR THESE TRICKS! IT'S WHAT KEEPS OUR ECONOMY AFFLOAT!

The Gaia Interactive, Inc. has disappointed me more than ever.

Obviously, I sign.

I think I speak for most when I say that I joined when I was in early high school, and just wanted time to burn. Back then, there were three forms of currency; gold, cash and time. Time could be directly converted into gold, if you spent enough of it in the right places.

I remember spending hours perusing the booty grab forums to get my 200-500 gold. After friggin ages, you'd manage to save up 10k or maybe if you were especially dilligent, 50k.
I remember spending ages {though my perception of time was not brilliant at that age, so it was probably about a week}, to save up enough for my elemental hair. It wasn't easy, but I did it, and it was beautiful.

Because study does tend to catch up with one, I moved on. My account became inactive. I came back for the community, as all of my friends have pretty much left, but questing like I used to is now impossible. This is perfectly okay for me personally as I don't have that amount of time to spend trying to get some pretty pixels, but I'm signing for people who are in the same situation as I was.
It's impossible to work and buy nifty items, now. 100k was doable 500k was on the verge of godly, and 1 million was untouchable in the days I come from. Now everything has multitudes of untouchable price-tags, and it really is quite tragic.

I'll be honest; a cynic at heart, I would be very surprised if anyone of importance at all reads this, and personally, all I have invested into this site are memories, which have already been dashed by the rapidly receding community. So no, I won't be too phased when this site ultimately falls. a twinge of nostalgia, perhaps, but there will always be other things to do, cause this site has kinda lost the charm it used to have, for me.
Regardless, for the sake of all the new people who are unfortunate enough to be trying to make a gaian-hood in this dark age, I sign.

When you look at the past months of the Marketplace, everything seems fairly stable, increasing a little here, decreasing there, then you get to January 2014. It goes up a bit more than the others, but not particularly worrying, right? Then February rolls in, and it spikes even further. I look around, and four of the same item I had is worth in the hundred thousands. "Sweet, more Gold!" My thoughts were, and so I put my items up for sale. Then, a week later after selling them, I go back to get more, and find they spiked to 1,000,000 or higher. I was angry that I had missed the jump, but figured the price would go back down and bid for a less expensive version of the item. After winning the auction at 2 million (Yes, it had increased that much and was STILL the cheapest one) I sat on it. I have it in my inventory and it is now worth 100,000,000. That's right. One Hundred Million. In two months, it went from 50,000 per item to 100,000,000. This is insane, and MUST be STOPPED. I don't care about the profit anymore, I want a stable economy where I can actually save up for things! cry

I would gladly Sign this petition.

This is ridiculous. I came back for the first time in almost a year, and I seriously cannot afford anything at all. The only way I've been getting gold was selling all my old stuff that I didn't use anymore.
