A gold sink is device that takes gold out of the marketplace. For instance, when you buy an item from a gold shop, that gold basically just disappears. The less gold there is, the lower the prices will be on the mp.

i'm not sure if you've considered it already, but the petition i just came from (on this same topic) included a list of possible solutions and just general, concise points that, i think, added a layer of discussion to the thread. what we need are suggestions for execs to consider; i find it hard to believe that everybody running gaia nowadays is just money-hungry and completely unsympathetic to these user grievances, and i'm sure they've tried a couple of things to help control inflation.

i would suggest hosting an event that would provide exclusive items or maybe even some other kind of perk (achievements, new emoticons or posting options, a unique transformation or something) to users who donate large amounts of gold to other poorer users (maybe those who have less than 1 mil). of course, this might just lead to people transferring all of their gold onto mules, or creating new mules to exploit the system. they could also use the same concept with an artificial, community-based fundraiser, like the whole "send rufus to college" idea, which would essentially amount to a giant gold sink. you could have tiered items or perks so that people could show off how generous they were.

at the very least, i'd want to see something, i don't know, kind of human from the gaia staff nowadays? something along the lines of a podcast or livestream would be really interesting, and a shift away from the constant promotions and adverts. it'd be nice to get users on gaia all talking about some collective interest again, like we used to do with events and story updates.

i'm just free-writing, but you see my point.

The problem with making it exact is that people are only going to sign if they agree with the exact ideas you're proposing. And then you end up with a thread of people arguing what will and wont work. I could always add other people's ideas to the "what other people say" post. The point of this is to show just how many Gaians are tired of the inflated marketplace and the gold generators. I know Gaia has tried to stop the inflation. The problem is, they're dealing with the symptoms rather than stopping it as it's source. As long as they keep flooding the market with gold from the generators, any possible gold sink is like a band-aid on a bullet wound: better than nothing, but really not doing much.

I've come back to Gaia after a couple of years and I must say, the inflation is terrifying. Everything is ridiculously high in gold worth and there are even gold generators on the market!? All in all, nothing much has changed except the the addition of a tonne more items and the giant influx of gold. neutral

I came back to GO after about half a year hiatus and was stunned when the most mediocre items are going for millions and millions of gold. Rascal the Alley Cat was once a 25k item on its good days...now it's going for 2 bil. Really? What the hell happened?

As a cosplayer here on Gaia, its become really complicated to get items because everything is over 1bil. ; - ;
