I'd like to sign - though I have no idea what number you're at so far.
While I can understand the reasoning behind the nerfing of BG, there are more effective and less destructive ways for Gaia to solve the gold inflation. Marketplace caps are one of them, selective nerfing the next and the SOS event was amazing - it even adds a more educational aspect to Gaia in that an event like that, which mirrors real world economic cycles, draws parallels to real economics that users can learn from.
I joined Gaia back in 2005 under a different account name, and I played for about 3 months. I was optimistic at first (as all teenagers are with their egoistic highs) and thought I could save up enough gold to buy some neat stuff for my avi. Then, I realized that Slots, Cards, Fishing and Towns only had so much gold-earning capacity. Soon thereafter, I quit Gaia.
This account was created two months ago and part of the reason I play frequently is Booty Grab. I'm using it as a gold generator to buy zOMG! Rings, and to save up to buy a whole whack of higher-priced stuff from the gold shops. Whoever made the suggestion to get nicer looking things in the gold shop is on the right track.
As a business person, I'm shocked that Gaia wouldn't realize the mechanics behind nerfing something people legally bought. I can understand if there was a message sent out asking if people would want a full/partial refund (in Gaia Cash or something seeing as a partial refund on $7.50 is ridiculous) before the changes were made. The false advertising claim stands - Gaia, you promised your customers a certain product. To not deliver on that is not only bad business, it's poor ethics and could have an impact on how the kids on this site think. If you doubt that, go look at the Lifestyle Discussion and Extended Discussion forums - you have kids who get their life lessons from this site. If the owners of the site they spend half their day on can't keep their promises, what lesson does that give them?
Gaia, I urge you to consider your players - we are your customers and fans. We like what you do, and we want you to keep doing it - but be considerate of us. If we pay real money, we're extending our support to you - don't squander it like this.
Many other MMOs with currencies have the same inflation problem - I'm sure there are conferences and networks where you can ask these corporations how they deal with it. You're a business - start acting like one.
