Dear Gaia,

I have absolutely no problem at all with the site trying to make money by selling things to users willing to pay money. Heck, I used to buy about six MCs a month with the intention of lining my own pocket (I'm an art whore). But, frankly, it's not worth it anymore. I mean, come on, Gaia!

And the quality of the MCs has only gotten worse since the Cash Shop opened. A LOT worse. I understand that it must be hard to keep thinking of ideas, but that's no excuse anymore. This is just half-hearted laziness! Just look at the "Super power" item you released this month!! I'm honestly offended! There are so many ways, especially with all the super hero movies being released recently, to have made that at least interesting! That was just SAD. Especially when you consider that so many Gaians are readily offering up their opinions... TELLING you what they want.

But apparently Cash Shop items are the new MCs. And, here's a surprise, they're more expensive. About twice the price. Frankly, just drop the MCs all together. I don't feel special for having them anymore. I feel like an idiot. Make the Cash Shop the place to buy things to donate money, and keep money-only things in the Cash Shop ONLY.

As for the aquarium... That's taking it one step too far. Obviously, if you bother actually looking at your Site Feedback forum. And by "looking" I mean actually LOOKING, not hanging around to mumble excuses. Sorry, got off track again.

The Aquarium. It looks nice. It was a good idea. I LOVE aquariums (I have my own ten-gallon tank right beside me). The bad idea was making everything sell for cash only. This will irk even the members, like me, willing to buy from you. This is taking advantage of our generosity toward, and even our "love" of Gaia. They fish freaking die for one thing. Let me tell you, even my fish live longer than these VIRTUAL things. Hell, Tamagatchis could cost less... and at least they had a FREE reset button. If you wanted to release a few items here and there in the Cash Shop, like you do for the avatars, then fine. No issue there. But making your users fork over cash or fight the marketplace for a feature? That's too much.

You have reached the point Neopets reached when I left that sight. First one thing, than another. And soon you've completely sold out. I understand that Gaia is a FOR-PROFIT company. However, you also claim to be a community site. You need to figure out where the line is. Are you going after profits or community? I don't care which you choose. But Choose. Either go all the way for your bottom line, making room for a new Gaia-like sight to snatch away all who were once faithful to your community. Or reign yourself in. Slow it down.

If you decide that this community you built is worth a smaller profit, Gaia, then listen to us. Consider this your intervention. It will be a small nagging at first. But ignore us to long, and I promise you we will leave. Not out of any malice, but because we felt like we became your Consumers, instead of members of your Community.

i was debating on if i would sign or not because i have stuff i won in daily chance, but then i saw this:

that's all i needed to hear. your first post on this site said it perfectly. ya, i can understand mcs costing money and the cash shop to some extent (although it licks that the stuff ends up being so ridiculously expensive in the markets) because it's like making a donation and getting a little reward for it. but that the entire aquarium feature is cash only? bullshit. that is so ridiculous especially because they don't last. at least make it so they don't die? (if i wanted that i'd get a real fish -.-) foolery. this is sad because it's actually cute.

so hey...as long as being anti-cash only for this is cool, you can sign me up.

For anybody who's like 'should I? I agree, but not completely...', It's alright to still sign if you're not 100% with the cause. The main factor is not buying the fish items. MCs are fine, and even the junk in the Cash Shop I suppose. It's just this fish thing has gone too far. It's alright if you touch your aquarium if you happen to get free fish and items in the DC, just paying though, that's what we're focusing on. So if you agree, please sign. I refuse to buy any Aquarium items with real money. I hope everyone supporting this also will not buy any of the cash items with gold in the Marketplace, because that's supporting people who support this money-making scheme.

Well, it's true, that this whole aquarium thing is just to get more people to spend their real money on gaia and buy gaia cash. I know that's really bad.

BUT

Nobody forces you to buy cash! You can buy your fish on the marketplace, and if you don't like it just don't do it.
I myself never spent real money on gaia and will never ever do it! I more or less boycott the whole cash thing with just not using it. >__>
