Welcome to Gaia! ::

Anxious Goat

Whatever comes out of the clam is probably worth less than it costs to care care of the thing until that time.
Add me to the list.

When I first saw the announcement about the coming aquariums, I was pretty excited! It looked like a cute idea.
But now, it's just stupid. I can't (and won't) go to the store AND put out the money to buy a little fishie that will DIE.

Ouch, talk about a slap in the face.

Seriously... What kind of a response is that?!

one thing to keep in mind, you are going to be getting excellent items from your clam if you take good care of your tank.

Bullshit... That does not justify this... ESPECIALLY for those users, who just wanted a virtual fish tank to take care of for fun... Who cares about random items? That's useless!

We just want to care for a virtual pet that doesn't just die on us...Something we can call our own, and keep for a long time. Random junk items do not make up for lack of that.

Some of us don't care about the items, we want a virtual fish tank, which we can check on, feed once or twice a day, and maybe display/show-off in our profile, like our house.
Add me!

I completely agree that it's just a buncha bull. In my opinion, there never should have been a cash shop. If it's a free website, it should be absolutely free. Especially if there are annoying ads all over the place. Gaia has become a sell out. Think of all the 'free' items Gaians received from watching ads, or doing this or that for so and so. Namely, Verizon, thanks for that big let-down.

Also, Gaia should fix the problems on the site and UPDATE before starting anything new.

Maybe instead of throwing all this time into getting more cash items, time could be spent improving other things. Like, the monthly collectibles...

I only ever spent real money for one collectible (Masterpieces) and was terribly sadden with what I received. I will NEVER spend real money on something like that again.

Clam items my tail, I don't care how cool they are, spending money on SEVERAL items probably isn't worth what the clam gives.

I'm in agreement here. Said dev did not even address the issue. It's trying to sugarcoat it, in hopes that the general population will just hush up because they're offering something in return supposedly equal to your money in return. The thing is, the only way that I will hush up about this is if they either remove (or dramatically expand) the lives of the fish, or start offering gold options for them instead of cash only. It's ridiculous

We expect some level of realism and fun, with a virtual pet that doesn't just die on us... Random junk items do not make up for lack of that.

I think that Dev response had the opposite effect of what he had in mind.
That there shows that they honestly don't care.
Im in. This is so pathetic.
Lately all the MCs arn't worth the money either. I used to see a bunch of cool things when I first joined, now its all crap. Heck, the UFO has been out for months and it's still only around 7-8k... great item Gaia.
I was perfectly fine with Gaia having a Cash Shop that updated with items as accessories for our avatars. Whatever. I don't care about that.

But this is different. This causes an entire feature to be cash-based, which initially leaves out the users who only use gold on the site. I understand that they are purchasable off the MP once users who spend cash on them start listing them, but that does not change the fact that at first, users with only gold are totally left out. That's unacceptable for a company who isn't supposed to favor groups of consumers over other groups.

I wanted to try the Aquariums, but now I won't. I am 20 years old, I am in vocational school, I work at McDonald's and pay rent, car insurance, and I buy food -- which means I am extremely poor. I cannot spend money on a site like Gaia, thus I am left out of this feature unless I can find a way to spend time earning the gold to buy from users on the MP ... which can get extremely pricey. I know I am not the only user in this situation, which makes this an even more unfair act on Gaia's part.

Unless fish that are able to be bought with set gold prices come out, I will probably never get the joy or disappointment of trying out this new feature.

Yeah... I know... =/

I just wanted a simple virtual fishtank, with fish I could name, care for, feed, check on, and not worry about them dying to easily... Maybe decorate the tank... Then show off in my profile or something.

I really didn't want something like this, for the purpose of random items, or overly expensive useless cash shop junk I'd be forced to buy. And I most certainly didn't want to be forced into buying fish week after week to keep up the tank, toward some annoying game goal of getting items.
Well, I gotta head to bed, got a big test tomorrow. Oh boy. Good night all and I'll update the list tomorrow.
I support you!!!

You work at McDonald's? My heart goes out to you.
