You have three strikes here. If you do not post in a timely manner, I will first make a point of personally PMing you with a warning. Secondly, I will write one of your characters (if you have only one, this will be a more strongly worded warning) out of the RP temporarily until you have time to bring them back, and lastly, I will ask you to please leave the roleplay until you have the time to post in a somewhat regular fashion. I don't like being a douchebag. It will take me some time to get to this point. Please do not take advantage of this. I understand we're all busy. I won't bite your head off. However, I have to keep the people who really dedicate their time to this place in mind, and if you begin to screw them over, well - we'll talk.

No god-modding, auto-hitting, power-playing, or auto-dodging unless you receive special permission. If you don’t do this, you may be called out on breaking the rules - if you do, don't be offended! Please just make a compromise with your partner, most of us are sadistic towards our characters anyway.

DON'T MESS UP MY BEAUTIFUL THREAD //
Do NOT quote IC posts. Be a dear and don't stretch the page, either. It's obnoxious. Most everyone here uses a post format for each character. If you do make one, please, please make it relatively unobtrusive. don't want to see that you have a HUGE photo, three icons, something blinking, lyrics from seven different songs, two gifs, one-thousand lines of code, and a name plate. Post formats are by no means necessary and no one - I mean, no one will judge you for not making one.

DON'T WRITE IN MADE-UP LANGUAGES //
Type so that everyone can understand what you’re saying. While I can understand if English isn’t your first language or if you have the occasional typo/grammar error, I don't appreciate it when I need to decipher a post before I can respond to it. My standards on this aren't sky high, anyone with a middle school diploma should do just fine.

This is an organized crime roleplay. This is not a happy, “let’s get along” role play. This is not “let’s figure out how to work together” time. This is a spastic, violent RP complete with (mostly) TERRIBLE people. If your character takes a shine to someone on another side, that's cool - but please don't make a peacemaker without expecting that they'll be chewed up and spit out by the other characters.

It's really hard to ******** up your profile in this RP. I will reiterate all of this in the "profile skeleton" post here on the front page, but I wanted to touch on it here. You can use whatever profile (as involved or as simple) you want so long as you include basic categories (listed under skeleton post). I have provided one you are welcome - but not at all required - to use. Please post profiles in a test thread and then PM me the link within a week or so of joining the RP. You are allowed to start posting immediately after I post your icon profile (mandatory shortie profile also under skeleton post) on the front page. If you do not get your extended profile to me in a timely fashion after joining, I will politely ask you to hold off posting until you can get it finished.

HERE'S THE STORY -

LONG, LONG AGO //
The Belmontes are an incredibly well-known crime family, first peaking in the golden age of organized crime - the roaring twenties. Florence was their home, and the Belmontes worked hard to make a name for themselves amidst other more powerful factions. The family was largely unsuccessful and eventually they were forced to flee from their debts to the United States. As it turned out, Americans were easier to swindle, not having had much experience with organized crime, and the Belmontes thrived. Everything went well, until the fifties hit. The Belmontes had gone for so long without any competition, something was bound to go wrong. The Valentines, a Sicilian family which had long served the Belmontes as bodyguards, grew more ambitious with each passing day, and there were whispers of mutiny. It was in the year of 1958 that Giuseppi Valentine made his move, backed by his family. Most members of the Belmonte family were wiped out in what could only be described as a massacre. The Valentines thought that the rivalry would be over with so many of the Belmontes six feet under, but they underestimated the resolve of those remaining, and the Valentines suffered considerable backlash. The survivors were from different backgrounds, nations, and families, but nevertheless, they upheld the old ways - congregating under the name of the deceased Belmontes. The families became adversaries to the end. Neither side is good, neither side is bad. It's been blow for blow, tit for tat, since that fateful autumn day in 1958.

WHERE EVERYONE'S AT //
(details in the 'Outlook' post.)
Currently, the Belmontes reside in a mansion on the outskirts of Verona, VT. Their property overlooks the skyline of the metropolis, and is itself tucked into the edge of a mountain. The home is rather spacious for the number of Belmontes that choose to occupy it. It is defended by electric shock walls disguised as old fashioned black latticework fencing, and gate that is defended by multiple guards at any given hour of the day.

The Valentines occupy a decently sized three-story penthouse in downtown Verona, above an upscale hotel and casino named "The Mint." The top floors of the hotel are accessible only by a private elevator with fingerprint access. Living there is cramped and a little closer to the action than anyone would have preferred, but being located downtown certainly has its benefits as well. No one gets into the building without being spotted by concierge. For this reason, it's difficult to sneak up on the Valentines.

Members of the Strafe live scattered around the city in apartments and houses, but gather within an old, shut down section of subway beneath the city's surface. Security pales in comparison to their counterparts, and relies mostly on how difficult it is to find the hideout. There is no map. As mandated by their leader, the Strafe are to keep the convoluted directions locked away in their minds. Those who are not able to find their way back are doomed to rot away in the dark subway tunnels. Natural selection.


CHOOSE YOUR FAMILY -

THE VALENTINES //
The Valentines are a more modern kind of mafia. They loosely value loyalty, and “the family,” at least enough to be able to separate themselves from gangs. There is no tried and true code of ethics within the Valentines, not when dealing with each other, or with anyone else. There is one rule. Listen to the Don. The Valentines are very much a dictatorship, but because of this, they are often seen as impulsive and unthinking. The Valentines live in sleek, modern simplicity. Their penthouse is filled with glass partitions, black tiled floors, and crimson wall accents. Out of the two mafias, the Valentines are more likely to threaten than to bribe. They rely mainly on scare tactics, direct violence, and torture to achieve their means. Collectively, they are very good at what they do, but the decisions that the Valentines make are often irreversible. They represent the brawn to the Belmonte brains, but are perseverant in their attempts to outsmart the other mafia. Training is much more focused, and if someone seems to not be strong enough to stay, they are brutally discarded. The Valentines learned their lesson back in 1958 - survivors are dangerous: they don’t take prisoners.

THE BELMONTES //
The Belmontes are a throwback to the twenties mobsters. They have a code of ethics when it comes to “the family,” and they focus on loyalty above all else. The style of the Belmontes is elegant and lavish. Their living space is populated by white suede couches, blue velvet draperies, and dark mahogany floors. The family lives an opulent life and are choosy about who is allowed to join their ranks. The Belmontes are far more likely to bribe than to threaten. Also, they are more of a hierarchy than a dictatorship - sure, the don has the final say in everything, but the capos, consigliere, and underboss are all active conspirators. This can be seen as a weakness at times, when they occasionally spend too much time trying to reach a decision instead of acting quickly. The Belmontes are known for being sly, cunning, and quick; and are not usually involved with full-scale, head on attacks. Perhaps because of this, their forces are generally not as strong as the Valentine forces when it comes to brawling, shooting, beating, and other violent skill sets. Between an average Valentine soldier, and an average Belmonte soldier, in a “fair fight,” the Belmonte would likely lose. That, however, is what separates the Belmontes from the Valentines: rarely do they ever play fair.

THE STRAFE //
The Strafe are the most organized crime syndicate that no one's ever heard of. As a natural dark horse, they embrace their clandestine temperament and revel in secrecy. To protect the specifics about their plans, each individual member is only privileged to certain information, as well. They excel in infiltration. With friends in places high and low, they own the city of Vermont in more ways than one, and have eyes everywhere. The motivation behind their competence, however, is far less savory. Circulating a new strain of drug, they take it with almost ceremonial reverence. The hallucinations it gives them is not only interpreted in religious context, but obeyed to the letter. Every one of them is a prophet, and the visions they receive give them purpose. Many believe they come from a higher power, messages to be shared amongst themselves and carried out to be saved. Their headquarters is in an abandoned subway tunnel, blocked off decades before, and has been furnished with all the comforts of home for those involved enough to live on-site. However, many of Strafe's members have their own quarters and only convene in the subway when called to partake of the sacramental narcotic. It is not unlikely that they will only see each other from time to time otherwise, or when on a mission together—all in the name of stealth.

THE VALENTINE PENTHOUSE //
The Valentine penthouse is located in downtown Verona, at the top of a modern, expensive hotel and casino by the name of "The Mint," on the fiftieth floor. The penthouse is actually 3 floors in and of itself, including the rooftop terrace.There is an express VIP elevator in the lobby, when, once fingerprint scanned, will take any of the Valentines directly to the top.

THE BELMONTE MANSION //
The Belmonte mansion is situated a few miles outside the city, to the east. There is a small pond on the property, and the house overlooks the city from the base of a nearby
mountain. There are other expensive residences in the area, each more than a mile away from each other. The Belmonte mansion is protected by an electrical defense system disguised as a wrought-iron fence.

A TRUCE ... ALREADY? ;;
Breaking a precedent set by years of bad blood between the Belmontes and Valentines, the Belmonte don has called a meeting with the don of the Valentines. It seems that a new organized-crime faction has come to Verona, and while neither mafia knows much about the newcomers, one thing is for certain - they pose a threat to both families. The Belmonte don has paid off a local bar by the name of "Speakeasy" to leave the doors unlocked upon closing for the night. It is at this bar that the two men are to meet to discuss their concerns. The Belmonte don has specified that each are to bring only one member of their mafia along, and that all four participants must be unarmed. While they may play by the rules on the surface, neither the Belmontes nor the Valentines were ever much for playing fairly. Members of both factions are scattered around the surrounding area, armed to the teeth, in case anything were to go wrong. The law of probability ensures that it won't be long before the two groups run into one another - and more dangerous still, there's a rumor that the new faction has possibly gained intelligence on the little tête–à–tête, and may very well make an appearance of their own. First glimmer of a truce in decades, and it was damned from the start. Welcome to Verona.

I HAVE MADE THIS AS EASY FOR YOU AS POSSIBLE // In the end, you will fill out two profiles. The first will take you ten minutes tops. You will find it below under "quickie profile". This profile will be on the front page. Once it is posted by me, you may begin RPing. WITH THAT SAID - within a week or so, I expect to receive the full length profile (more details in a second). If I do not receive the full length profile in a timely manner, you will be asked to put whatever your character is doing on hold until you can get it to me. The first profile you send should be labeled "Belmonte", "Valentine", or "Strafe" accordingly. You can name the second whatever the hell you want.


LONGHAND PROFILES ;;
Below I have provided a sample full-length profile skeleton. You do not need to use this if you do not wish to. Your profile can be as long or as short as you wish but there are a few things which must be included: name, age, gender, side, rank, weapons, appearance (including a photograph, not anime), personality, and your username. I allow bio to be revealed along the way if that is what you as the RPer wants, and it is therefore not required in longhand profiles. You are more than welcome to use the provided skeleton, or equally welcome to make up your own. When your profile is done, post it into its own test thread (characters may not share test threads unless they are a package deal, like twins).
