If you're still looking for an Actual Opinion on your Subject, Sweetie, I Think you should go with it if you still feel that Strongly About it and the Next Person Who Questions you or What you Beleive in, Don't let it Stop you, anyone who's that disrespectful of anyone's Beliefs Should be Decked in the Face.
Or Maybe think it over some more over some Incense Shopping...X3

This is an ED forum, if you don't want to be questioned, then you leave.....so fekking simple. LOL at your own irony though. Tasty it is.

Wicca is not a feel good do what you want religion. Buckland, Ravenwolf, Cunningham don't actually teach Wicca. Shame that they are money making frauds or had a money making fraud attach the word Wicca to their books. Really, shameful that someone who thought that any religion or belief system was open to him because he felt like it would still be taking teens and adults monies for falsitudes.

heh..heh heh..You're Funny. *Smirk*
heh...Thinking Mein Little Flower Made this topic to Be Questioned further; you're Hilarious.
She asked for Opinions. Nothing more. If you wanna Whine, Do it Somewhere else. We Don't need your~it~all, Arrogant attitude here so Shoo; you're Not Helping...^^

Awww..someone doesn't read the rules..her nor her mules/friends. Shame that. She wasn't practicing Wicca, but hell forbid her and her mules/friends actually learn something in a discussion forum. If you just want opinion, you and your mule/friend should stick to the chatterbox instead of spamming s**t like, "She only wanted opinions cause we iz smartz and are trying to be coolz."

Still Doesn't Give you any right to Be a Rude two-dimentional p***k to anyone; Especially me, so stop Trying to Drag me into it like an immature little Kid; it's Silly.
Personally, I don't give a F*ck What Religion Mein Flower is thinking about taking up or Re-taking up, she just asked for some simple Opinions so once again, go Whine somewhere else, your Waring out your Welcome with you're idiocy.

Awww..open discussion means I can reply to whomever I want. You were rude to everyone with your opening post but want to cry persecution eh? That's a rhetorical question but just in case you do not know what rhetorical question means since you obviously don't know what a discussion forum is, rhetorical question means that you do not have to answer it as the answer is obvious. If you want to cry about opinions, then chatterbox is the way to go. Yay....you learned something today.

Heh...you're right, I did learn something today; You're a Rude, Long~Winded Jack-A**.

FYI~ The only reason I posted here was to give My Friend a Solid Opinion/Answer since it appears everyone else here has their heads shoved too far up their own narrow a**es to give her one.

Ohhh and by the way, If you're trying to convince me that you're more intelligent, Please use proper sentence structure: "A rhetorical question is a question with an obvious answer."
The best way to get back into Wicca is to research on your own. Asking on here your going to get a lot of assholes replying. You can be under 18 and be Wiccan you just aren't yet a priestess/priest and wont be until 18, 21, or until you are wise enough or are at a certain level of practice depending on what path you are. You also want to figure out more what path your looking to be.

This is the Religion sub forum.
I was asking for help on MY religion. There was no need for you to come in this thread and be rude to me or my friend.
This is EXTENDED DISCUSSION first. Morality and Religion is a sub-forum of ED.

If you read the forum rules, you'll understand that threads here require discussion material. Asking opinions and nothing more does not constitute an ED M&R thread.

Also, you weren't asking about your religion. You are not Wiccan. You cannot be such because of your age. You were asking about what your religion which you have mistakenly termed Wicca.

As an extended discussion forum, many regular readers and posters will try to make your thread an extended discussion topic. If they don't, the thread will likely get moved to the recycle bin or the chatterbox. I'm sure it's already been reported as a misplaced thread, so, I would suggest you engage in the discussion lest it be moved or deleted.

For the record, everyone, including DMJ have been nicer to you than is often the case with such topics.

From everything she explained about how she was following the tradition that her father passed down to her, your reasoning for her not being Wiccan is because she is too young.... Wiccan/Paganism is about the belief in the Pagan Gods and Goddesses, and the traditional rituals of prayer and focusing of positive energy through meditation. It is the combined lore of hundreds of generations, a way for them to pass down knowledge. Considering she said that she was taught by her father, I would say that ya she is actually following the old pagan traditions and hasn't just picked up a Wiccans for dummies book like you are assuming. And since you seem to be not even reading and just jumping to conclusions, the question wasn't "am I doing it right?". The question she was asking was "Is my faith and practice of my religion worth facing my painful memories?" And you should know that not facing that negative energy will just keep multiplying it.

Wicca was created in the 1950's. Before then, the term had only been used in ancient times, and then it only meant "witch".

For the question your friend is asking, the Life Issues subforum of the Lifestyle Discussion forum is the place to go. The M&R is a place for heavy, non-personal discussion.

Because you only reply to those who you agree with shows that you're only looking for statements that tell you what you want to hear - that you are a wiccan, when you are not.

Scorpett has provided you with a logical, opinion-filled, and very helpful explanation of what is going on. But you have yet to reply to it. You have also yet to reply to the Wicca FAQ since it's not up here on the front page with any replies from you in it - even though it was suggested to you as a helpful discussion.

If you wanted only people who'd agree with you, then you should, as DMJ has posted, have posted in Chatterbox or in some other forum which has no actual discussion.

Instead of facts and historical evidence, what you want is what we call here in the South a "Butt pat" which you and your "friend" have made very clear that you prefer to pat each other's butts as well as demand butt pats from others.

I suggest either you read the Wicca FAQ to understand Wicca - which you do not because it is a Fertility cult involving sex acts with people - including (if your father had initiated you) sex acts with you father [aka Incest] at the age below 14 (since that's when your pendulum was broken).

Unless you were actually sexually initiated at younger than 14 - in which case well I can think of at least several laws that would have been broken in the US, as well in the UK, by your father you are not a Wiccan as a Wiccan is a clergy member by default.

All of which is answered in the above mentioned Wicca FAQ, had you bothered to read it.

Please tell me your just trolling now, because the popularization of Wicca in North American culture is not the creation of Wicca. Yes "ancient times" considering that Paganism developed while Latin was the dominant language, roughly 2000 years ago. The word "Witch" is an English bastardization of the Latin word "Wicca". It was meant as an insulting term that surfaced during the English Crown's prosecution of Pagans, when they attempted to wipe out Paganism with Christianity as a way to control the beliefs of the people they conquered.

Source that Wicca- or rather Wicce came from Latin and not Anglo-Saxon languages.

Source that English Crown [which only existed at what point in time? up to now? Just checking your dates too] called any of the victims (not necessarily pagans, but victims is the word you're looking for here) Wicce/a.

Don't worry, I'll wait.

Are you really that sick in the head? Wicca DOESN'T have to involve sex!
It's OPTIONAL and normally is only between the high priestess and the priest for blessing an athema and ect. My father has never and will never do such things and you have taken this WAY TOO FAR! You all need to just let this topic DIE and STOP Speaking such nasty things. Everyone has their own views, opinions, yes but really? To go THAT FAR?
You clearly barley know what you are speaking of as well. It's pathetic.

Wicca does have to involve sex. smile It is a fertility religion.

Nope. Sex, as in literal sex, is involved in some of the rites.

Actually I know exactly what I'm speaking of. Sex is part of the fertility rites and initiation rites of the Wiccan religion. Since your dad "brought you into it" I can only assume that you performed sex acts with him as a child.

Since you have not performed (nor do you know nor can you grasp that concept) any sex acts, then you are not part of any initiated Wiccan religion. You are instead apart of a form of witchcraft that is unrelated to Wicca.

Quote:
4.1) Do you have to have sex to be a Wiccan?
Absolutely not. While Wicca is a fertility (nature) religion in its basic form, having sexual intercourse with another person is not a requirement of the religion.

4.2) Do Wiccans do their rituals naked?
While this used to be the "rule", it is now the exception in most covens. You will occasionally find a coven that does all it's rituals skyclad (Naked: Clad only with the sky), and some that practice skyclad only occasionally. The majority of covens in recent days practice wearing robes, with nothing under them. This is usually done for practicality as well as modesty. Wiccans see nothing wrong with skyclad ritual, though, per se. It is done not out of lechery, but out of the belief that in Wiccan ritual, you leave behind all that is mundane, or that which could hold you within the mundane world. Wearing clothing in ritual chains you to modern society: i.e. the mundane world.

4.3) Do Wiccans have orgies?
Sexual activities are based on the individual, and not based on the religion. While the Wiccan view of sex may be more relaxed and open-minded than the average American, orgies are not a standard part of Wicca, and typically do not enter into a Wiccan ritual. Wiccans are just as likely or unlikely to have an orgy as any other group of people who are not Wiccan. On the same note, Wiccans are no more likely to have sex with you than someone who is not a Wiccan.

Source?

Here's mine with the 5 fold Kiss.

Gardner:

In 1953, Gerald Gardner said,
"It hath been found that this practice doth often cause a fondness between aspirant and tutor, and 'tis a cause of better results if this be so. ... And it is for this reason that a man may only be taught by a woman and a woman by a man, and that man and man, and woman and woman, should never attempt these practices together. And may all the Curses of the Mighty Ones be on any who make the attempt."

(Men-Women concept)

Gardner on Sex that becomes just for lust in rite:

"To us it is natural, and if it aids the Great Work it is good. 'Tis true that a couple burning with a frenzy for knowledge may go straight to their goal, but the average couple have not this fire. We show them the way, our system of props and aids (i.e., magic ritual). A couple working with nothing but lust will never attain in any case; but a couple who love each other dearly should already be sleeping together, and the first frenzy of love will have passed, and their souls will already be in sympathy. If the first time or two they do stay a while to worship Aphrodite, 'tis only a day or two lost, and the intense pleasure they obtain only leads them again to the mysteries of Hermes, their souls more attuned to the great search. Once they have pierced the veil they will not look back. This rite may be used as the greatest of magics if it be done with both partners firmly fixing their minds on the object and not thinking of sex at all. That is, you must so firmly fix your mind on your object that sex and all else are naught."
Calelith

I suggest you read the Wiccan FAQ. No really, go read it now.

That goes for you too Space Paranoids.

"There is nothing to fear when you have nothing to lose."
This FAQ of sorts is extremely biased and conservative. The author reminds me of one of those young-Earth fundie Christian types that goes on and on about how if you look at your p***s or admit that dinosaurs were real will make you burn in hell.

Pagans are ancient, yes. The term "wicca" to mean "witch" is ancient, yes. The term "Wicca" to mean any sort of religion originated with a dude named Gardner in a book he wrote in the 1950's creating the religion of Wicca.

Paganism =/= Wicca. Wicca is a Pagan religion, but that fact doesn't mean you can say Wicca has been around for 2000 years. The Pagan religions around 2000 years ago weren't all that much like Wicca.

You're right that the popularization of Wicca in North American culture is not the creation of Wicca. Wicca was created in Britain in the 40s and 50s, crossed the Atlantic with Buckland a little later, and it was a couple of decades after that that it started to get really popularized within North America.

When you say "English Crown", which kings are we talking about here? We're talking pre-1066, right?
