I had a female friend that played the cello and she at one time had a pink mohawk.
The school almost did not let her walk at graduation because she was going to dye her hair purple black and white for the graduation and she still had a mohawk.

It was more then fact that she was female and had a dyed mohawk.
Females were forced to wear dresses and males suits at graduation and they had to see our shoes before graduation or we could not walk.
