AHAHA. I was like that with Twilight in middle school. I had no idea why people were talking about it, no idea what it was, so I read it because I wanted to be in 'OMGLET'STALKABOUTTWILIGHT' group. Until I realized it was a mistake. 8D
And I enjoy HP because of the quirky characters. Cx <3 I dig quirky characters. Books don't feature them enough. >:

and ehh :/ ive found tons of books with quirky characters.
Ever read anything by Tamora Pierce or Charles de Lint?
Quirky galore! I know for a fact that Rowling is an excellent writer.
And I'm positive that if the entire series wasn't ruined for me over
the several decades it took to finally finish, THEN MAYBE,
I wouldve enjoyed them and read them. As it stands, I've
only been able to force myself to read through one of the books.
And it wasn't even the first book. It was the third.

Chem: LOL. Ikr. I'm so behind on the big doll orders, yet up to date on Checkmate and here. I think I spread myself in too many places, but I like the difference in style. EVEN IF I MUST MAKE SACRIFICES (whatever they are. Dunno yet.)

I'm pretty sure I read that book on auto pilot because I remember almost nothing about the books.

I've read Tamora Pierce! Love. Her. But not so sure about de Lint. I've read so much fantasy that the books kind of just blend together.

i'm actually in the middle of reading it myself by recommendation of a friend :3 everyone i've asked about it has only told me good things and i really like it myself. it's very interesting and all the characters are really well developed
