it's handled through trade.

for items and stuff, go to a shop. there's shops in each town, look at the bottom of the page, you'll see items in your inventory. if you want to sell any, just click on them and confirm. the shop owner will say "here"s your gold" or something like that.
then boom, you just sold an item
