@MrsMcCoy - Ouch. That had to suck.

@lolita - Hopefully so. I didn't really come out to her yet. I told her that I just liked it because it made great comic relief in movies. I'm not sure if she believed me. If not, I'm gonna have an interesting spring break.

My family tends to be pretty gay friendly, though. I know my dad is okay with it because he went to his coworkers' lesbian wedding. My main issue is that I'm really shy and I don't want to answer all the questions that will definitely come up once I'm out.

But I am definitely going to freak out about the facebook thing for a while. I shall blame it on my screwed up sleep schedule and fried brains. Curse you, history paper!

@"That's so gay" - It bugs me, but more on a grammatical sort of level. If you think about it, the word doesn't even work in half the situations it's being used in now. How do you know that your textbook/orange juice/toothache is homosexual? wink

Other things to be mad at: I'm gonna miss my schools first GLBSA meeting because it's conveniently scheduled on the day I board an airplane for my cousin's wedding. Rawr.

I tend to just say "excuse me?" or give them the death stare. If some one say's, thats a Gay *insert body limb here*" I'll say, "No this is a Gay * insert Body limb here*". Shuts them right up usually.

I've been lurking because the standardized tests I'm taking are killer. But Gil the genderqueer dinosaur sounds amazing and must be shared here.

I don't like ANYONE saying "That's so gay." I'll jokingly call myself a "dyke," because that's just me involved. That's so gay brings ALL of us into it.

In other news, my circle of friends has been using the "Friend Quiz" application on FB. I just started it out and there are three questions on there that I really want to know who answered: someone who thinks I had a crush on them, someone who has/had a crush on me, and someone who thinks I kissed a dude. I need to knowwww. :0 And the crush one better be a hot chick.

Wuh.. My dad so makes up for my inability to pass and just about made my day today. I haven't actually been explicit with my family but he's known and been working on things for a while. This afternoon, he asked if I'd rather be called Steph or Steve. I love my dad so much.

Yesterday's club meeting went rather well. We got to watch a couple of counter-protest videos because Westboro Baptist Church had some people out here this week, picketing the way that they usually do. We also had a lawyer there, who was more than willing to answer questions. Apparently, Virginia's even worse than I knew. We don't even have common law marriage. It's legal or none. Reaffirmed that there are no protections, too, unless you work for a company that specifically states them in their policies.

Only other thing worth sharing from my end would be..one of the articles from Advocate. Article is here. It's got some stats and links to the full study that the information comes from.
(This is ignoring my discovery of Robot Unicorn Attack, but that's unimportant.)

I almost drove one of my friends to Richmond to counter-protest at her old hs, but something came up and we ended up not going.

I cringe when I hear of the Westboro Church. At first, I thought they legitimately hated the world and everyone in it, but now I think they just want attention. That Lady Gaga parody really makes them look silly. I'm sorry, but if I was trying to deny someone their rights, I wouldn't make fun of Lady Gaga to prove my point. :/

I think it's fine (when referring to a thing, but not a person). A lot of others will say they're not okay with it because it's insulting to homosexuals.

see that makes sense. i think is okay when talking about item but not about someone. thanks

Not quite but my brother is an alumni of one and mine gets a lot of new students from that same school. It was mostly high schools over here and they hit a lot more over in Norfolk. Heard that none of them showed up at the funeral they'd planned to hit, though, which I was glad to hear.

News: Virginia's still trying to fail. Attorney general's asking schools to remove protections now, when the vast majority of them cover at least orientation. Story here.

I wish I knew, since I have to live with it until I've got some form of degree so I can get at least a decent job when I finally move out.
Somewhat similarly, the process for changing legal documents here? It's a huge mess of red tape. At least it was last I checked. Virginia is very much not for lovers since it's not for decent people to start with.

oh jeez. >< Virginia is headed in the WRONG direction. I certainly won't be staying here after I graduate at this rate. Better start looking for grad schools in better states... stare

I'm not sure what the process for changing legal documents here is either, but I'm sure its a huge fiasco.

Speaking of legal documents, I just filed my taxes (blech) and it always makes me sad to have to file legal documents under my birth name rather than under Jon. *grumble grumble*

And there's a handy page I use to that covers just the driver's license information. We make North Carolina look beautiful. Pretty useful, though. US driver's license policies.

Oh, ugh. Taxes. The one thing I dread about having a job again, since the job itself is absolutely awesome.
