(Quick Note: This thread is about the United States School lifestyle/culture)

As some may know and some may not, recess is slowly being eliminated from the US. What we use to do when we were kids, tag, making new friends/enemies, games, imagination, will not be available to future kids later on. They will have a whole day of school. Most school districts in Atlanta, Georgia have already got rid of recess. The government (not 100% of the gov) wants to be like our other countries like Japan, Germany, and Russia. Problem is that kids need free time to themselves like adults during their work hours. Recess is also part of our childhood foundation and wish we had it again and look back to good days.

This thread is here to show the world that we are not like the other countries and prove that we value the time away from those brain cramming questions. I hope this is set off in an awesome chain effect. I don't to lose recess ANYMORE!

This will come on the "Which Side?" post, but here is a form that I would like you Gaians to fill out. I am doing research which I will present to the school district which I live in. Some of you might be quoted, so please fill it out.

One of the greatest questions you could ask a kid. But sadly not all kids can say that now. They might not even know about recess. In Atlanta, Georgia, recess has been eliminated or time has been trimmed down for more free time for instruction. There has been massive spread stress over the standardize testing throughout the US. The great argument is basic but complicated. Should recess be replaced with time to study for academics? Students need to prepare for standardized testing more, and Recess was a good place to start taking time away. But yet Recess is important. Kids need some free time during school hours like adults need breaks from work hours. Experts say that the key to a successful life in school is academic learning. Breaking of time or eliminating recess altogether, they argue, won’t harm the children.

I grew up with 2 recesses and a lunch time. Those were great times. I think that they need to keep recess in school b/c the kids need a brain break to relax and play before hitting the books. Plus, have you seen america's youth? Childhood obesity on the rise and all. A bit of exercise wont hurt.

I don't know why they want to be like other countries when they haven't gotten their own together. It seems like they are trying to win a race with a huge wieght holding them back.

Eh, once I got to middle school, and recess was 5 minutes spent outside in a tennis court as long as it was warm out, I didnt really notice a difference. And when I had recess, I never did anything. I had no friends, so it was basically 20-30 minutes of me sitting and staring off into space. Frankly, I would have preferred to stay inside and get help with my math.

I also hate children.

True about Adults, but Recess is 20 minutes to whatever in elementary school, not in middle school.
