Is there something really heinously wrong with someone insisting that self-identified psychic vampires and sanguinarians
(and self-identified hybrids for that matter) are experiencing different conditions? Why is everyone so hung
the ******** up on throwing everyone into one box at the expense of the acknowledging the really important
distinguishing factors between us?

I am getting really exhausted with being told that I am trying to prioritize the experience of sanguinarians somehow
just because I insist that I am *not a psychic vampire*, holy s**t. Or better yet I am told that I am trying to
tell other people that they are ~not vampires~ or that I am trying to say that I think the word "vampire" should
only refer to sanguinarians.

******** I don't really want to have to get anywhere near the v word, not even with a 10 ft pole, but recognize
that if I want to network I'm going to have to accept it occasionally. Seriously though the LAST thing I want is
to call myself a vampire. s**t you guys.

I've always thought that they're two separate experiences too. I only recently learned a few psi methods to feed, and it doesn't seem like quite the same thing as taking in blood. Really the only similarity I can find between the two methods is the end result. I see the point of sort of grouping the two terms together though, because similar things come up in conversation on them both, but I've always rather thought of them as still being separate things.

I know what you mean about other people getting upset when you just refer to one or the other though. It gets pretty annoying after awhile... Along with the term "real vampire"...

There isn't anything wrong with it. The fact of the matter is, they are incredibly different as the method of feeding is not the same at all.

I see no reason why it is necessary, however, to distinguish between the two other than for convenience. A psy will have a far more simple time of feeding than a sanguinarian if only for the reason that it is difficult to find a donor. Truthfully speaking, a psy should be able to feed on anyone, but then we get into the consent issue and all of that.

I do not identify as either, but I know very well what I am; I simply cannot stand the terms "vampire" or "sanguinarian." They both reek of myth and bullshit, which is why I try to keep away from them myself as well. The idea of them is hot and all, but the reality is that it is quite irritating to have these types of needs. I could feasibly have a donor as my girl enjoys the sensation of being fed on, but I think that it is better for me that I only feed occasionally. Any other time, and I end up letting go of my reservations and the need becomes more apparent.

The term does not only refer to sanguinarian. I do not see how you distinguishing between the two implies that you're trying to say that; whoever thinks so is clearly not understanding that you're only trying to point out the differences.

The necessity for me lies in the fact that psychic vampires, by necessity, see their condition as metaphysical and
I absolutely do not. I do not believe I am ingesting metaphysical energy and benefitting from blood consumption
in that way, and that is 100% the reason why I think they are entirely different conditions that do not even warrant
grouping together in any way aside from whatever social benefit each group might gain from camaraderie.

Mostly though it's frustrating and upsetting, to be quite honest. I do not identify with the experiences of
"psychic vampires" at all and find it very exasperating to be told that I should. Not that you are, though it
seems that even folks that are willing to admit that psy vamps and sanguinarians are not the same are still unable
to comprehend the idea that not all sanguinarians believe their condition is metaphysical.

Would it kill people to just *try* to behave normally?

I suppose so.
