Dangerous Lunatic

Tavon simply ignored Ana's attempts at making herself look good, and dove into the battle. "Damn, you guys have thicker hides than i expected" he muttered as his blade ripped open tje stomach of a lesser demon causimg the contemts to splatter onto the wet pavement.

Their blood was a thick, black syrupy mess that seemed to ooze out in globs as the heart beat its finale. "No offense Ana,but you things are nasty. " Tavon said as he wiped some of the black residue off on a womans hair.

((pretty much just a post to describe how the darkness looks))
Ana casually sliced open another belly as she passed. "I actually am rather offended. My blood doesn't look like that." She kept her eyes peeled as she casually dispatched demons that she had trained with for many years. "If you see a male with a claw like mine for a left arm and really sharp horns, stay away. He is the general and I'm in no mood to face him right now."

Dangerous Lunatic

"So, how many more of these wimps before he starts sending in the big guns?" Tavon asked stepping away from the gate to allow a small group out before he stabbed one in the throat. The others grasped their neck as if it had been lacerated as well. While they were distracted by their pseudo death, he tiredly killed them in various ways. "Sorry, had to castrate at least one." He laughed as a few more poured through the gate.

"Guys, run towards the church." Hunters voice crackled over their walkie-talkies.

"Not now kid, having too much fun."

"A second gate is about to open behind you!"
Ana frowned. "Scissor attack. That would be the higher ranking ones."

Canaan smiled as the second portal began to open. This was a plan he had for a while. If Ana was there, she might know about the maneuver, but she wouldn't expect it.

Dangerous Lunatic

Tavon nodded."Flanking tactics... You guys aren't as dumb as I thought. " He said as he retreated back to the church for protection. "They're probably going to use the gas station for cover while they're building numbers and power." he said looking to Ana as he finally reached the entrance to the church. "Do you have any area attacks?"

One of Canaan's commanders approached him. "We have them cornered sir, shall we have the men acclimatize before sending them into battle?" He asked as several of the demons waited just inside the portal."Also, it would be wise to send in our archers. It seems that the enemy is only prepared for close combat." The commander paused obviously not wanting to deliver the last bit of information regarding Ana."Oh... and sir..."
Ana frowned at the question. "Yes and no. I can do some things. But I don't have enough power to do them at this moment. Got any range attacks?"

Canaan shook his head. "I would rather not risk killing Ana. I want her alive. If the archers think that they can pull off a shot without killing her, they have my permission." Canaan was occupied with counting down the seconds that the two gateways would last. Once could last long enough, but the amount of time decreased as more gates opened. They had plenty of time to complete their mission.

Dangerous Lunatic

"Nope... What about the kid's rock thrower thing?"

"Yeah I could shoot them, but I only have about 18 bullets... Of course if this was a movie I'd only need one." He said as a small smirk came across his face. "Ah what the hell." Hunter peaked around the corner and fired a single shot at one of the pumps. Nothing visible happened.

"General! I understand that you want to look after your cousin, but she is killing us! Not only that, but she's enlisted the assistance of an Altirian."
The commander knew he had overstepped his bounds, but Canaan was sending the soldiers into a kill zone if he didn't let them acclimatize first."And there is one more outstanding issue." he said taking a professional tone again."There's a human with her..." He trailed off allowing Canaan to make the connection for himself.

The commander attempted to make a strategic leave while Canaan was contemplating the data. "Alright, ranged squad, on me." He motioned for the bowman to come to his side. "Canaan's orders, shoot to kill."

((I've decided to make the nameless commander a character that I will be playing often in order to keep Canaan from becoming a "Shadow Character". Pretty much all you need to know is he is not infected with the darkness, and that he is a very effective commander that is willing to go against orders to get the job done.))
Ana peered into the shadows around the gas station. She swore some pretty colorful words that made the shadows pulse around her. "They are bringing in archers. That would mean that they intend to kill...or at least not send anyone else after us."

Canaan scowled at the commander. "If seasoned soldiers can be dispatched by an apprentice and a lowly Altirian, they deserve to die. An army is like a garden. The killing of the weaker soldiers is merely a pruning." Canaan gave the commander a meaningful glance. She stole something from our key. He would be displeased if we don't find it."

Dangerous Lunatic

The archers nodded to their commander before entering the first of the portals. The group fired a volley of arrows with small bags tied to the shaft with the accuracy of a sniper. The arrows hit mere inches above their heads powdering them with black powder.

Hunter ran into the main foyer to avoid what ever was about to hit his allies. Tavon on the other hand simply sat down in front of the door and watched as they prepared their next barrage. "Ana, I can stop their attack for a short time, but I won't be able to fight myself. You'll have to take care of the archers." Tavon waited for the archers to prepare their attack.

"Flaming arrows... real original."
He muttered as he flexed his hands. As he did so, the archers also flexed their hands causing them to drop the arrows. The flaming arrows fell to the ground causing the gas released from the pump which Hunter shot to ignite. The result was the entire station going up in flames.

"Uhm Ana... never mind."
Tavon said as Hunter peeked around the corner to check on his comrades.

"Are you two alright?" He finally asked over the radio.

The commander moved over to Canaan"You were right. We should have charged." He said simply looking to the few men of his left alive. "You can continue this battle, but this is a lost cause. I'm sure that Lord Tyrall would rather have a living army than...whatever he lost."

((So... yeah. That's what I meant when I said Hunter's main power was luck... and a LOT of it.))
Ana let out a low whistle. "I think they just learning something about combustion...those that survived anyway...good going."

Canaan sighed and gave the orders for a swift retreat. "I did not become a general simply because of my good looks."

Dangerous Lunatic

"Huh... So my plan actually worked... who would have thought?"Hunter said as the demons retreated into the glimmer of the gate which was closing rapidly. The man shook his head in disbelief. "The first battle we've won against them, and it was won by two aliens... Yep... Sounds like one horrible sci-fi."

Tavon looked to the two."So... what now?"

Aegis (the commander whose profile is now up) walked tiredly into the barracks and stripped his armor off. The room was nearly empty. "Sir, it's not your fault." One of his men said as he walked towards him. "They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

"My entire team is dead."
He said punching the stone wall.He retracted his hand wincing. "If I hadn't been with the general, if I was out there fighting, I could have saved them."

"If you had gone out there you would have been killed just like they were."

"I felt them die... Let me tell you, they didn't die painlessly."

"I wouldn't expect anyone in this army will."
Ana shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know what the gate recovery time is. Canaan was always the one responsible for numbers. That is why the humans have been having a lot of trouble. Canaan knows the exact amount of time a gate stays open and counts backward in his head. When time runs short he pulls back the troops." She frowned a bit. "But I think he would know better than to bring flame to a gas station."

Canaan threw his armor onto the ground. To say he was angry wasn't enough. He knew it would be only partially be labeled as his failure. He was unwilling to send in the archers in the first place, and he could always say that when accused. It was the commander's fault. But Canaan jumped into his bunk and waited for the inevitable, his summons from Tyrall.

Dangerous Lunatic

"Well, it's late. I'm heading home... If you guys need a place to stay... My couch has a roll out bed, and I have an extra bedroom." He offered as he rubbed his eyes.

Tavon shrugged."Huh... Not very often someone actually offers to let the mass murderer quarter with them." He looked up at the star-lit sky. "Eh, sure... an actual bed sounds alright."

The imp entered Canaan's chamber yet again. "Uhm sir, Tyrall has requested for your presence... He has already alerted your council to the situation, and they will be present during the audience."
Ana smiled. "Or a demon adolescent for that matter." She gave Tavon a nudge. "I don't know what you are talking about. I'll be sleeping on the real bed. You get the fold out."

Canaan sighed as he rose. "I figured as much." He waited only briefly to be transported to where Tyrall and the council waited.

Dangerous Lunatic

Tavon gave a big smile. "I'm sure we'll find a compromise." He said nudging the blue-haired woman back.

"You really want to sleep with a five year old?"
Hunter asked turning around."Don't know about where you're from, but here we call people like that child shmexers."

((Evidently the word Ped combined with ophiles is one of those unmentionable words on Gaia. Just realize that's what the underlined portion is supposed to say.))

"Fine fine... I have enough things on my resume that will stop me from getting a job here as is."

Hunter lead the two into his house once more. when he opened the door a small white cat began circling his legs. "Kupo, move out of the way, I don't want to play right now." He said as he nearly tripped on the feline. He folded out the couch, and showed Ana to her bedroom while on his way to the door that led to heaven. "Well, it's been fun... Extremely weird, but... Night." With that drug his feet into his room and hit the mattress.

Canaan found himself in an audience room several times larger than Tyrall's throne room."Canaan. I would like to let you know that I do not give you fault towards Ana's actions. You're council has convinced me that losing your student is punishment enough." Tyrall rose from his throne and motioned to the council. "I am aware that you're clan has been afflicted with a curse that has killed most of the children. As you know, your clan is very important to the continuation of our empire. This is why I have ordered your council to place the sole surviving child under your guidance. Upon this child's peak of power, she will become a general such as yourself. and after the population of your clan has replenished itself, she will become the new leader of your clan."

"I tell you this because I want you to know how important this girl is to me. If she is killed in or out of service, it will be you that will be found guilty of her murder, and the breach of the treaty between the empire and your clan."

((Flash to Tavon's first job interview:

Butcher:Sir, here it says that you have several years of experience in the murder of political figures.

Tavon:Well, I just wanted you to know that I don't mind dealing with a LOT of dirty, dead carcasses.

Butcher:Most carcasses are dead... I also have another concern where you put that you have a history of "dealing with creatures from hell."

Tavon: Oh, that's just talking about one of my friends...

Butcher:Uhhuh... So, the only reason why I'm even still talking to you is this right here. It says you're very skilled with all kinds of blades, including butcher knifes.

Tavon: Oh yeah, remember those political figures I was talking about earlier? Good times.

Butcher:We're done here... We'll be sure to give you a call if you're hired.))
