Hygienic Genius

Armelle was comfortably asleep in her husband’s arms when she began to have a vision of a horrible event. She was suddenly thrust in the middle of a large battle. The setting seemed to be king’s lawn. There were ereiki, and bannermen, and knights all battling it out for the throne. Out of the chaos, she saw a familiar face. It was Celeste. She was fighting alongside her soldiers fearlessly. She was doing pretty good too, until a large beastly man stepped up to fight her. He was twice the size of a normal man, and wielded an axe equally as big. Celeste tried to block his attack, but there was no human alive who could stop such a blow. Her sword went flying and the large axe lunged straight into her chest. As powerful as Celeste’s healing powers were, they could not fix the severed heart. Her face went cold as her body went limp and fell to the ground.

Armelle awoke from the vision overcome with worry. It was by far the most graphic and troublesome vision she has had so far. It seems as if the storm gods were always testing her faith. She buried her face in Donny’s chest and tried to rid her mind of the horrific image but it wouldn’t go away. Finally, she gently nudged Donny’s chest to wake him up. Although as the high priestess she was supposed to be strong and wise, she needed guidance from time to time. “Donny, ive had a horrible vision” She whispered in the darkness. “Its…Its Celeste. I saw her perish on the battlefield against the king. I must warn her! I don’t want her to die! But ….it is against the ways of the storm gods to alter the future. I will be punished by them if I do so…and I don’t know what the punishment will be…”

For the first time in a long time, Varus and Celeste had one of their wild nights again and made love until the sun had both come and gone. Varus laid exhausted on his back as he waited for his heartbeat to calm down from all the excitement. Celeste was laying on his chest comfortably and playing with his hand. The silence broke when she spoke to him about an idea she had about how to trick Jhaego into helping them fight the war. Varus frowned when she brought up the subject again. That was the last thing he wanted to think about after having spent such an amazing day with Celeste.

“is that what you have been thinking about the entire time? And here I was, trying to think of more ways to please you” He said, a bit sadly. He wished that Celeste would be a bit more into making love to him as he was, but he supposed that it was an impossible thing to ask for with a war going on. He heard out her plan and thought that it could work even though he definitely did not like what it involved. He was already annoyed of Jhaego hitting on Celeste now. He could only imagine how much worse things were going on suck once Celeste actually started to pretend to like Jhaego back. Varus sighed. “Fine, I guess we could try that if it is the only way” He agreed. But then he grinned and rolled himself on top of Celeste. He pinned her down on the bed and held himself over her. “But I’m not done playing just yet. And you’re going to have to make it up to me if im gong to have to watch you doting over that ereiki.” He grinned and stole kisses from her.

Suddenly, the door busted open and the little old innkeeper woman was standing at the door with a tray of food. “I thought you kids might like some breakfast!” She said obliviously with her dentures almost falling out. Varus scrambled off of Celeste and pulled the blanket over himself and Celeste but the old woman’s eyes were too far gone to see that far anyways. She meant well, she just wasn’t used to the western custom of knocking and she was not used to seeing young lovers who were so wild for each other. “Oh! Heavens! Excuse me” She exclaimed as she hurriedly set the tray down and left the room.

Celeste glanced up at Varus with a giggle and a scrunch of her nose. She kissed him back happily while she wrapped her arms around him. “Don’t be that way, Varus. You know that I enjoyed every minute with you, my love.” She smiled and moved to kiss him, but, that changed when the little old lady walked in and left as quickly as she came. Celeste was wide eyed, but as soon as they were safe and the shock wore away, she burst into happy laughter. “You-you should have see your face!” She laughed as she brought the tray of breakfast into bed. When he emerged from his tent of shame, Celeste pounced on him with a piece of toast in her hand. “I’ll feed you breakfast in bed, my dear. Don’t you worry about a thing. I’ll take care of you until we have to go back.” Celeste kissed his lips and fed him, but as soon as he was finished eating she was back to business. Celeste kissed him hard and made sure that he was not upset for any reason. Because when they returned, she would have to pretend to like Jhaego more than Varus.

But for now she had to just enjoy her time with Varus rolling in the sheets. When they got back to the grasslands, everyone wondered where they had gone, and celeste replied to explore the free cities. It was an innocent enough explanation. However, she squeezed Varus’ hand and went in search of Jhaego. When she found him and cleared her throat, elevating her voice to a slight happy chirp. “Erebuki! My stallion, I missed you. How have you been in my absence?” She asked softly.

Jhaego wasn’t too happy about getting punched by Varus, but there was little he could do because he knew that he was the one in the wrong by trying to trick Celeste. To his dismay, she quickly came to her senses and dragged Varus off to god knows where on her dragon. Of course Jhaego could not follow. As fast as his prized horses were, they were no match for a dragon. He was forced to stay home and wait for Celeste to come back to the camp.

A few days later, he got word that her and Varus had returned. He quickly went to meet them. He was very curious to know where Celeste had gone. It turns out they had been exploring the free cities. Jhaego did not have a very good relationship with the people of the free cities since they did not allow the ereiki to enter, but he supposed that it might be a reasonably believable venture for the westerners. But something seemed to be different in Celeste’s attitude towards Jhaego when she returned. Before she was often offended or annoyed, but now she actually seemed to enjoy Jhaego’s company.

Jhaego’s eyes lit up when she called him her stallion. His mouth twisted into a wide smile as she puffed his chest and looked proud to all the people that Celeste was finally coming around. “I have missed you too, coconut bottom! None of the girls here even come close to your beauty!” He said as he snatched her from Varus once again, this time leading her away by placing his hand on her butt. “Come! Drink with me! Try some of the best summer wine that the grass sea has to offer!” He said charmingly as he head her away to his tent, thinking that he had a chance with her.

Donny was awoken from his wife’s sudden shaking. He frowned a little before cracking his eyes open. Ever since this entire Vision thing, Armelle often woke him up complaining of vivid dreams- or visions. He sat up sleepily and peered at her with kind eyes, trying to focus on what she was saying. He looked troubled as he gently pet her hair down to calm her. Finally, he lit the candle beside the bed so he could see her better but instead of saying anything just yet, he worked to calm her first. With Armelle seated in his arms he breathed a sigh of defeat. He was conflicted in what to say. He knew his brother loved Celeste, but he loved Armelle and couldn’t accept anything bad happening to her. He was selfish. “Armelle, I don’t think we should take these visions you have and use them to our advantage. If that is meant to happen then we should let it happen. I can’t watch anything bad happen to you.” He told her, holding her close to him and kissing her forehead.

However, it seemed that Armelle had other idea’s because in the morning she had made up her mind. Despite Donny’s urging to say otherwise she wanted to warn Celeste. All he could do was support his wife, but he didn’t really want to. Instead, he silently escorted her to Dragonbourne. The ride there was long, but once they arrived it seemed worth it. Dragonbourne was beautiful with lush trees and beautiful waters surrounding it. As they entered the city they were stopped, but when they announced who they were they were allowed to enter with the guard leading them to not the main castle, but a very large manor near it.

“Lady Sidara is not here, we will arrange to have you meet with Lord Knox. He is acting as Regent until she returns from Candor. “ Said the guard with a smile. The man seemed jolly, despite his very formal armor. He held his helmet under one arm, and his blond hair fell upon his shoulders. It was not nearly as light and inhuman as the noble family’s was, but most people in Dragonbourne had some shade of blonde hair depending on their purity and station. It was rare to see dark haired folk in Dragonbourne. Those who did were those who migrated there. As they arrived at the manor, he walked through the large halls, leading Armelle and Donny through the home until he came upon a grand table where the nobles were eating breakfast. There sat a young man, a middle aged woman, and two other men in their middle years. The woman noticed them first and gently touched the younger’s arm. Knox, as Donny assumed stood up and met them half way before they arrived at the table.
“I am Knox, of house Dragonbourne, I am told you are the lord and Lady of the forge? Varus’ brother, yes?” he asked in a quiet voice. He had a certain calm about him as if he was much wiser than his years. Though, there was much of the Wylde blood in there too. He moved so smoothly as if he was gliding and he had that air of regality. “What can I do for you?”

Donny urged Armelle to stay quiet, but she just could not bring herself to watch helplessly as Celeste dies out on the battlefield. Whatever punishment the gods would give her, she would face them honorably. Saving a life was much for important. She was just glad that Donny came along to support her even though he didn’t exactly agree with her decisions. She was lucky to have found a guy like him. When they arrived in the city, Armelle was in awe. Everything was so beautiful and clean. She quickly got off of her horse and skipped over to Donny. She held on to his arm as they walked around the town. But the two stuck out like a sore thumb in Dragonbourne. Everyone was light skinned and blonde haired and walked with a certain sense of grace. Guards could easily tell that they were foreigners and soon approached them to ask what was their business here. Armelle announced who they were and how they seeked an audience with Sidara. The guard revealed that Sidara was away, but he showed them to her regent instead. It was a young man by the name of Knox. And although he was not a part of the main ruling family, she could tell that he was a close relative by now similar he looked to Celeste.

Armelle smiled and bowed politely to Knox. “It is very nice to meet you Knox. Other than being the Lady of the Forge, I am also it’s high priestess, and that position has left me with some special…insight. There is an important matter that I wish to speak to you about. Perhaps somewhere a bit more private?” He smiled kindly to those still eating at the table. She wasn’t even supposed to tell anyone, so the fewer people the better. Armelle hopped up on her toes and kissed Donny’s cheek apologetically as she told him to wait with the men at the table. Knox then lead her into a back room, where she finally felt safe enough to speak. “Lord Knox, I have come here to warn you…well not you per se, but Lady Celeste. I had a vision of her passing. It will happen during the battle for King’s Lawn.” She said quietly in all seriousness.

Jenpai's Wife

Knox raised an eyebrow to Armelle. What could the girl possibly want? He wasn’t sure but he bowed his head slightly and lead to her another room. His arms rested behind his back, with his hands clasped together. When they had settled into another room he turned to face Armelle with a blank expression as if urging her to continue. “What is this gift you speak of?” He asked softly, but of course Armelle explained herself after a few moments. Knox frowned and circled the room once as she spoke, taking in everything she said, “By passing you clearly mean her death?” he asked to clarify what she spoke of, then tilted his head slightly as he stopped walking in front of the window. He peered out into the town thoughtfully, “And how pray tell is this death supposed to happen?” He asked the girl as he finally turned to Armelle and stopped before her, looking down to the shorter woman with his cool blue irises. If he was concerned, his face did not betray anything but calm. However, when she explained, Knox glanced upwards to the door behind her.

“My cousin is a stubborn woman, I cannot say whether or not she will allow me to convince her to stay off the battlefield, but I will travel to her and pass your warning to her regardless. Thank you for your care, my lady. I do ask that you keep this information to yourself for the remainder of your stay here. Us Wylde’s have a history of killing one another for the lordship and had I not seen Celeste as a sister, I would not warn her, but there are always ears and eyes spying for the king. We try to keep them at bay, alas, It is impossible to know all.” Knox finally allowed a soft smile to crack his lips. He looked so gentle and sincere as he bowed and lead her to the door and back to her husband.

Donny didn’t seem too thrilled at his wife being alone in the other room, but she returned to him safe, and that was what mattered. Knox smiled and invited them to stay the night to recoop before returning to the forge. However, he had to make plans to leave immediately. His mother would stay behind to look after Dragonbourne while he and another man of pale blonde hair would travel to Celeste. As knox and the man left and Donny and Armelle exited the room and followed the servants he turned concerned to Armelle,
“That was lord Dyaus- he is supposed to be dead, Armelle!”

Varus stayed home in his tent grudgingly as Celeste went out to drink with Jhaego. Although he had enjoyed their time together in the free cities, and promised not to be spiteful while she spent time with Jhaego, he couldn’t help but feel jealous that the ereiki was spending time alone with his wife to be. Varus sat bored in his tent. There wasn’t too much to do here in the grass sea if one was not into fighting to the death or nailing woman. He sighed and plopped down on the bed, wondering when Celeste was going to be back. To be honest, he wasn’t sure if her plan would even work, but she managed to get him to agree. She could get him to agree to anything when she spent the entire day in bed with him.

Suddenly, there was someone at their tent. Varus quickly got up and went to the door. He was more than surprised to see who it was. Dyrus was thought to be dead years ago, ever since the feast in the capital, but yet there he was standing in front of him. “Uhh…” Varus could not even speak. He just stood there sturdily in front of Celeste’s father. There was no doubt that the pervious lord of Dragonbourne did not like Varus. He was fortunate enough to not have to face Dyraus until now. Luckily the other man who was traveling with him broke the silence. He introduced himself as Knox and seeked an audience with Celeste for something very important, or so he said. “Uhhh…yea. She’s uhm…She’s with…” Varus began to babble, but thought that it would be easier to just go and get her instead of trying to explain everything to their new guests.

Varus escaped his tent and made his way over to the erebuki’s. Immediately, he could hear both of their laughters coming from it, which caused him to stiffen with jealousy. He peeked his head inside to get Celeste, and was shocked to see her perched up on Jhaego’s lap feeding him wine. Varus cleared his throat to announce his presence. This was a scene that he did not mind disturbing. “Celeste there is someone here to see you….You’re going to want to see this” He said with a face like he just saw something that he did not believe himself.

Jenpai's Wife

Celeste had been sitting upon Jhaego’s lap when Varus made himself known. She looked up and got up quickly. By the look on his face she knew something was wrong. So she quickly came to his side and walked with him. They rushed back to her tent, and Celeste didn’t pause to ask what was within before she opened the tent flap. She entered quickly, but stopped at the door and backed up like she had seen a ghost. In reality, she felt that she had. Seeing knox was nothing terrible, she didn’t feel anything was wrong with that. It was the second, more prominent person in the room that she found to be troubling. Celeste looked behind her at Varus with a shocked expression before glancing back to knox. “What is the meaning of this?” She asked him as she moved into the tent. She was on her guard, and not at all seeming comfortable about the situation at hand. “How did this come to be?” She hissed quietly.

Knox cleared his throat awkwardly, while Dyaus raised an eyebrow, “I had a good bit of luck after our previous encounter, thanks to my sister.” Celeste was infuriated. Her face actually turned a slight shade of red, which never happened. Rather, she turned to Knox, pointing an accusing finger.

“You’ve been hiding him the entire time! How dare you bring him here. I can’t believe this betrayal from you and your mother. I should kill you where you stand you…Ugh! Get out! Varus, take him out of this tent while I talk to my father.” She said as she waited for knox to leave before turning to Dyaus. “I killed you. I saw you die and I buried you. How is it that you are alive and standing before me right now?” She asked him with a glare. Though, Dyaus seemed as calm as ever. He wasn’t angry, or raging. He stood there like a stone statue, listening to her banter on. “I’ve had enough of whatever game you are playing. What do you want?”

“There is no doubt that you killed me that night, but I cannot tell you how I am alive now. Truth is, I was very angry when I first came to, to remember and then find out that you were starting a war with the king and gallivanting with that damn sand rat. But, the more I stayed in the manor I realized that you showed true grit and courage that night. I have always taught you to fight for what you believed in. I simply didn’t think you could turn on my decisions. I should have known better than that. Im rather proud despite it all, and much happier than I have been in years. Come sit down, child.” Dyaus pulled out a chair and swept his arm to the side to invite celeste to sit with him and chat as they did when she was younger. “I heard of the dragons, I would like to talk to you of them.” However, celeste would have none of it. She opened the tent flap and motioned for knox and Varus to come in.

“Why are you here?” she asked knox simply.

Varus watched quietly as Celeste confronted her father. He knew that this wasn’t going to be pretty. Celeste was a scary woman when she was angry. Varus was just glad that the anger was not directed at him this time. He obediently did as he was told and brought Knox outside for a minute while she talked with her dad. Although there wasn’t much need for that since they could hear everything through the thin tent walls anyways. Varus stood around and made awkward small talk with her cousin until she deemed it okay to come back inside. There, Knox said something that caught Varus’s attention.

As soon as Knox was brought back into the tent, Celeste insisted that he tell her why exactly they decided to visit her. “We have come to relay a message” Knox answered gracefully. “Lady Armelle of Thunderforge came into Dragonbourne a few nights ago speaking of a vision…” He said slowly, then looked to Varus and Dyraus. The two were both very close to her so he supposed that it was okay for them to hear. “She said that you will be killed during the battle for kings lawn” He said solemnly. “Let me fight for you cousin. Your life will be spared if you let me lead your men into battle!” He volunteered bravely. He was happy to finally be of some use. Being born to one of the lower families, there was not much hope for him to do anything great except for occasionally watch over the land when the main family was out of town. Thiss was his chance at greatness. He knew that he would be remembered if he lead the troops to victory against the king.

Jenpai's Wife

Celeste looked to Knox as he spoke and when he said his peace she frowned and looked to Dyaus who confirmed what he said with a simple nod. She shook her head and rested her hands on the back of her hips. Armelle was a trusted source- she trusted the girl with her life. She was family, after all. Sighing she turned to the table and tapped her fingers on a nap. Her fingers made steps across the map until she picked up a figure of a horse. “No.” She said simply, but the resounding “What!?” from all parties in the room made her turn around. “The offer is brave but I can’t let you lead my men into battle. This is my battle, not yours. You know as well as I do I will not and can not sit behind a solid wall and watch my men die. It’s not right, it’s not what we do, not what I do. I make my own future, I can’t depend on you or my father to fight my battles for me, or Varus either. I will be careful, but the answer is no and that is final.” As she spoke she tried to put her foot down but Varus seemed to have other plans. She could tell that he was going to argue with her the moment she closed her lips and sighed.

“Knox I-... I will think about it. “ She finally said to get everyone to stop the topic. She knew her arguing wouldn’t get her anywhere if she had no back up. She looked to Dyaus then, “I want to talk to Varus about this alone. Tell them that I ask that you two have a tent set up near here for now. Father, knox. I will speak with you both later tonight, for now my betrothed and I need to speak.” She told the two men, opening the tent flap and motioning for them to leave.

“Celeste-“ Dyaus began but celeste wouldn’t hear it, she turned her back on the man and walked away from him. He got the hint, obviously, but Varus was still there. “Don’t look at me like that, Varus! C’mon. You know I cant just let him fight my battles. How would you feel if someone told you to stay off the field because you had lost your hand? Or would lose the other? It’s not right. People are dying for our cause, the least we should do is be out there beside them!”

Hygienic Genius

Varus was shocked when Knox revealed that Armelle had gone to him with news of a vision. He knew better than to doubt the high priestess’s visions. He was infinitely grateful to Knox for offering to fight in Celeste’s place. However, he was not too excited about the fact that she was too stubborn to accept. He refrained himself from making a scene before her father and cousin left, but once they did he could not hold his peace any longer.

“But this is not a hand we are talking about, Celeste. It’s your life! Armelle had already seen the future. You know exactly what’s going to happen if you go out there on that battlefield. What would this entire war have been for if you perish before we even reach the throne?” He tried to talk some sense into her, but that was a lost cause. Celeste was far too stubborn. Varus sighed and got up to nervously pace around the room. When talking sense into her didn’t work, Varus decided to try a softer approach. “Celeste, this isn’t about bravery, or honor, this is your life we’re talking about here. I don’t want to lose you again.” He looked at her sadly as he took her face in his hand. “Please, let me and Knox lead the men. Stay out of harm’s way. Just this once. I’ll do anything you want, just promise me this”

Jenpai's Wife

At first Celeste was going to argue until she was blue in the face, but Varus paused and tried something new. With her face in his hand he talked her down. He didn’t want to lose her, he cared for her, and it was her life they were talking about, not something minor.” She parted her lips to argue, but she couldn’t bring herself to anymore. He was right. Only a fool would rush to death, and she and Varus had not had their promised time together yet. Instead of fighting she sighed softly, and nodded her head a little. “I will consider all you have said. I know the direness of it all, and I will not rush to the battlefield without due cause to do so. I will…I’ll let Knox lead the troops to battle, on the condition that you remain safe also and have Vanti near you at all times.” Celeste gave in and let him win this battle and in the end she didn’t feel bad giving into him in such a way. It felt nice to let someone take care of her, rather than worrying over the battle plans. For once she felt some weight lifted from her shoulders.

In her hands she took Varus’ face and gently kissed his lips, “If I am not going to the battlefield…” She began coyly as she took his hands and rested them low on her hips, “Then perhaps we can sneak away and work on your portion of our bargain?” She suggested softly. The tents were thin, and voices traveled so she spoke softly to him instead. The small bit of romance made her day a little brighter, compared to Jhaego’s crass ways, this was soothing to Celeste. Varus just had her so at ease that she let down all the walls and rested her head upon his shoulder. “I should get back.” She murmured to him, but she wanted him to make her stay there with him. So her fingers curled in his hair as she swayed in place with him. “But I’ve missed you, and I know you must be lonely on your own with nobody to talk to, or love on.” Celeste’s fingers moved from his hair to his shirt to let a few buttons loose. She wasn’t sure if her attempt to seduce her husband to be were working, but she certainly hoped it made a dent.

Hygienic Genius

Varus was surprised when Celeste said that she would allow Knox to lead her troops into battle. He had been able to break through her stubbornness after all. However, Celeste was not without her conditions. Varus sighed in defeat as she said that if she could go he couldn’t either. He wasn’t the one in danger, but he gladly agreed if it would keep Celeste away from the battlefield. Varus raised a brow when she lead his hands to her hips and suggested that they work on his end of the bargain they had previously agreed on. Varus was unsure. He looked back at the thin tent door that Dyaus had just exited from not a few moments earlier. It would be quite awkward if he heard of their intimacy. “Celeste your father is right next d—“ He started to say, but then was cut off by her about needing to get back to Jhaego. As awkward as it would be for Dyaus to hear of their love making, it was still better than having her doting over another man. His grip tightened around her hips as he pulled her close to him. “No, I don’t wanna share tonight” He said as he swung her up into his arms. “I know we just spent like a week out in the free cities, but I cant seem to get enough of you” He grinned as he carried her over to the bed. It didn’t take much for Celeste to seduce Varus. He fell under her spell every time with the touch of her hand.

The two were in the heat of passion when Varus heard someone burst into the tent without warning. Varus hopped off of Celeste quickly thinking that it was her father about to come whoop his a**, but instead it was Jhaego. In fact, it was a quite drunk and angry Jhaego. “Heey! Why yyou steal my coocoooonut buttom?” Jhaego slurred as he stumbled into the tent. He had obviously continued to drink even after Celeste had been called away. The man could barely even stand, but the liquid courage made him think that he could go and do whatever he wanted. Varuss was quite annoyed that Jhaego had interrupted their intimacy. He reached out for the closest thing he could find and threw it at Jhaego. “What the ******** is wrong with you! Get out of our tent! She’s not ‘your’ anything!” Varus shouted from the bed.
