Kanu hugged Adrienne around her waist with an affectionate smile as the woman put her arm around her and together they walked into the living room to sit down and chat. Kanu adored Adrienne as if the woman were her sister which she sort of felt Adrienne was. She was caring and affectionate, and always really careful around the younger girl sort of like Kazuki, her brother behaved, except Adrienne's attention was more loving than protective as it was with her brother.

As everyone settled into their seats and the tea cups were laid out along with scones, Kanu looked up eager to hear some of the tales of what had occurred since they last time they had spoken. She wanted to imagine more sights and sounds that she was sure she'd never see, but at least Adrienne and Kaz were both good story tellers who included a lot of details. It made Kanu believe that she could almost see what they were seeing while they spun off a tale of what had happened while they sailed the seven seas. Of course, this time she found that she was going to have to wait when Adrienne explained that she came for a specific reason. Kanu caught the hesitation in her voice and blinked a little wondering if something had happened.

Katherine found her place again across from her daughter and her son's girlfriend as she questioned Adrienne on how exactly she had traveled all of the way to Nottingham without a horse and carriage. It worried her to imagine a young woman like herself accepting the generosity of strangers. While she knew that there were kind hearted men out there, as a mother she could too easily see how much damage that innocence could've done. Even though Adrienne had made it safe this time, she was going to have to ensure that she secured a much more safe way back to port if Adrienne indeed had hitch hiked her way to Nottingham. Seeing the young woman's expression, Katherine raised her eyes a bit; there was timidness there and avoidance like when one of the children got into something they should've have or were about to admit to something bad they had done. Straightening her shoulders, the older woman nodded her head once she prepared herself not to bed angry with whatever Adrienne was ready to admit.

At first when the woman across from her explained that she wasn't really who or what she appeared to be Katherine frowned in confusion not understanding exactly where she was getting at. Katherine assumed that she meant in occupation, but then all too soon the truth came stumbling out and Adrienne admitted that she was the sea goddess Nerissa. For a minute Katherine froze in shock. Beside Adrienne, Kanu looked up at her friend in surprise that she'd just outright admitted it even though both herself and Kaz had warned her of the negative outcome that would come out of it, "Oh no...mother? She really didn't have anything to do with Father and Kazuki." she begins but her mother raised a silencing hand that even though Kanu couldn't see she could sense and hear as it was accompanied by a small clearing of her throat. Katherine slowly lowered her hand and looked at her daughter, "So then, you had already known Kanu? About who Adrienne was?" she asks neutrally.

Kanu hesitated before glancing in the direction of Adrienne. She nodded, "Yes mother. Adrienne told me the first time she came with Kazuki...she's trapped in the body of a mortal just as the song "Hoist the Colors" says. We didn't want to tell you because...well, we know how much you hate the sea now...we didn't want you to hate Adrienne..." she explains meekly and in sadness. Kanu was positive now that her mother would kick the goddess out of the house. Kanu looked down when she heard the squeak of the chair beneath her mother adjusting as the woman stood up.
Katherine walked towards the painting on the wall, since Stefan's death the portraits had been switched so Zekeal was again on the wall. Katherine looked at her husband and then at the smaller picture of her son and sighed, "I will admit. I am quite surprised to hear that I have Nerissa, the sea goddess in my home. I'd always imagined you to be just a bit more hostile I suppose. I don't hate you Adrienne..." she admits softly as she turns around with a small sad smile, "I never hated the sea. It just...breaks my heart to be so near it. My husband loved the sea more than he loved me. We shared a lot of good times together, amazing times. But he was a sailor so I couldn't persuade him to stay inland with me and I never tried to. When Kazuki was born I fancied him going into so many prestigious careers, but he loved the sea as well and followed in his father's footsteps. When Zekeal was killed I do suppose for a moment I held a grudge. But to be honest, I was just broken hearted..." she admits softly, "And now when I see the sea I can't help but remember all of the times I had with my husband and with my son and I can't take it. I just wonder...would Zekeal still be alive if he hadn't been a sailor? Will Kazuki be killed at sea as well." she sighs, "But no Dear, I don't hate Adrienne. Just please if it's possible... keep him safe while he's at sea?" she asks

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne's throat felt constricted as if her body were willing her to stay her tongue before she released any other information that may lose her the woman's affection forever. She glanced over toward Kanu, surprised but touched that the girl moved to defend her, but a chill swept over the goddess when Katherine raised a hand and cleared her throat for silence. She fully expected to be kicked out, to be ostracized, and that prospect broke her heart. Adrienne met Kanu's pale, sightless eyes when she looked toward her and then admitted to knowing about her, although she realized as the younger girl spoke that she had yet to mention that she was back to power. Smiling slightly, Adrienne took Kanu's hand both as a gesture of thanks and because she needed the comfort as Katherine stood and moved toward the wall.

Looking over her shoulder, Adrienne's eyes followed the woman, noticing that Zekeal's portraits hung proudly on the wall now that Stefan was well and truly out of the picture. As she spoke, she heard the sorrow in the woman's voice, the soft touch of bitterness dulled by time. When she admitted that she didn't hate her, Adrienne visibly relaxed, feeling relief so profound, she nearly shook. She frowned softly as Katherine said Zekeal loved the sea more than he loved her; it bothered her to hear that, knowing that it wasn't true. And if anything, they were equal, different, but eternal loves. She had his message to pass on to Katherine and Kanu as well, but she would take things one step at a time. She smiled softly and nodded in reply to Katherine's plea. "Thank you, Mrs. Topaz," she said quietly, sincerely, still so relieved.

She paused before standing, giving Kanu's hand a soft squeeze before letting go to stand next to Katherine and peer up at the portrait. The likeness was incredible. "Part of my job is to guide those passed at sea to paradise," she admitted gently, not taking her eyes off the portrait as she spoke. "I'd been gone for so long before getting my power back a few days ago, there was quite a crowd..." Tilting her head slightly, she murmured thoughtfully, "I met your husband and he didn't say a word about missing the seas or his sailing... But he did ask me to make sure to tell you he loves you. That he'll be waiting to see you again." She let Katherine absorb this as she would, hoping she hadn't said anything to offend her or hurt her more.

Kanu was a little panicked as her mother stood up and approached the portraits. She was worried that Adrienne was going to be kicked out and asked to never return again and the thought tore the younger girl apart. As Adrienne reached across to clutch her hand, the girl enclosed her single hand with both of hers and held on tight in her nervousness waiting for her mothers decision.
Kanu was surprised and relieved to hear that her mother wasn't going to kick her out nor did she hate the goddess for being in charge of the sea. Kanu frowned in sadness to hear that, instead, her mother was just upset because she had lost her husband and now there was a possibility that she could lose her son. The young red haired girl realized that she was right, Kaz was a pirate and a Captain at that. If he were to be captured by the Navy after all of the crimes against them that he'd already committed he'd be hung with no questions asked. Not to mention the possibility of being killed during any number of raids he orchestrated and other pirates going after him for various reasons. He was doing something incredibly dangerous all because he loved his freedom and he loved the sea. If her father had been killed doing something relatively safe because of his love of the sea how much worse could it get for her brother?

Kanu glanced up when Adrienne stood up. Slowly, Kanu released her hand and glanced in the direction of the portrait listening to Adrienne thank the older woman in a soft sincere voice. Kanu relaxed her shoulders and smiled slightly, her attention only raising again as Adrienne told her something she hadn't known. That she'd gotten her powers back and she ferried those who died at sea to their final resting place. Kanu's sightless eyes widened and she leaned forward a bit hearing that Adrienne had met her father and had accepted final words from him to say to her mother.

At the news that Adrienne had met her husband, Katherine quickly looked at the younger appearing woman in shock. At the message that was delivered to her, Katherine looked back at the portrait; she could almost hear her husband right beside her with a hand on her shoulder whispering those same words. Katherine turned away from the portrait with a small smile to herself. They'd always had that argument, that he loved the sea far more than he would ever love her. Zekeal would insist that wasn't true at all, but Katherine would see him early in the mornings watching the waves and looking more peaceful than at any other time. It wouldn't necessarily upset her, but Katherine knew better than to think otherwise. Hearing Adrienne explain that in his final moments before going to paradise he hadn't spoken a word of missing the sea and his sailing she shook her head, "That man..." she muses thinking to herself and maybe now she'd believe him. Straightening up, Katherine moves some of her hair behind her ear, she gives an amused sideways glance to the portrait again, "He's going to be waiting quite awhile. I have no intention of leaving so soon." Katherine declares but in her eyes it was clear she was happy at the news. It was as if she were a young girl again meeting him for one of the first times. All of the playful glances and stubbornness just to make him pursue her. It warmed her heart to know that their relationship would continue even past a mortal death for there would be nothing to stop her from seeing him again if he were waiting on the other side. Turning back to Adrienne she smiles sweetly and lovingly, "Thank you Adrienne." she tells her before taking both of her hands and kissing her forehead with motherly love.

Kanu smiled hearing her mothers comments. Leaning back, Kanu looks to Adrienne, "So, you just came to deliver the message to Mother about what Daddy said then?" she asks curiously

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne's gaze slid over to Katherine as she spoke and she noted that with the smile on her face, the usually quite serious woman looked younger, or at least more vivacious. She smiled to see that and hear that the woman had no intention of passing on anytime soon. She found it was one of quite a few reasons she liked Katherine so much: she was strong-willed and despite all she'd suffered, she was still upright and living. It was admirable, to say the least. Yet she did notice that there was some comfort in the woman's features before she turned and surprised Adrienne a little with the tender, loving look she gave her before clasping her hands and kissing her forehead, much like her late husband had done while saying goodbye. Adrienne's throat worked a little and she inclined her head with a soft, equally loving smile before turning to look toward Kanu as she spoke up.

The goddess shook her head and replied, "Not quite although it was certainly part of my trip." Giving Katherine's hands a soft squeeze before releasing them to go over to the sofa again, Adrienne added, "He also told me to tell you he loves you and to keep 'that beautiful smile on your face," directly quoting him to be sure she left nothing out. Taking a seat, she picked up the drawstring bag again after leaving it on the couch to go over to Katherine and took a breath. "What I mainly came here for was because I have something for you," she told the girl, her fingers clutching on the bag. "It's not a wedding dress, but I think you may like it at least a little better..."

First, Adrienne shifted forward and touched a fingertip to Kanu's forehead, so feather-light she could barely feel it. Light swooned from her touch, rippling like the calm surface of a lake. She felt the boundaries of Kanu's mind and gently nudged them wider, stretching them and giving her overall more space for the power that would soon find her. Once she felt that she would be fully capable of handling the power of the eye, she retracted her hand and sat back a little. Thinking over what was to come with nothing short of full-on hope and anticipation, Adrienne looked up and then summoned something into her hand, closing her fingers over it just before it appeared. It was a rather simple black eyepatch with a jeweled spiral at the corner.

Lifting Kanu's hand, palm up, Adrienne pressed the accessory into her palm and explained, "This isn't it, but you may need this in a moment or two." Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, Adrienne pulled open the bag and extracted the small glass bottle, Tirus' light still shimmering inside. Swallowing a lump in her throat, the goddess said calmly, "Okay, Kanu, look straight ahead, toward my voice." Once the girl had her eyes on her, Adrienne uncapped the bottle and gave the bottle a quick flick of her wrist, starting to send the light spilling out, but capturing it before it could. Upon touching it, she found the energy to be tangible, like a swatch of very, very fine silk. Pulling it up to hang between herself and Kanu, directly in front of where she gazed, Adrienne held it there as long as she could before it burst into a shower of glittering particles, some of which fell toward Kanu's eyes.

With bated breath, Adrienne was at first unnerved when nothing happened within the first few seconds. However, as she watched and Kanu blinked a little, she saw the foggy irises begin to change, taking on a pale green color while the pupils blackened with depth and sight.

Kanu tilted her head just a bit as it was explained again that Adrienne had arrived for a different reason. Hearing the woman approach, Kanu let her head follow the sound until the girl was sure that her friend was standing in front of her. She raised her eyes listening to the message that her father had given to her. Kanu smiled even brighter and nodded her head, "I will!" she says back happily, although she didn't mention how difficult that was getting to be these days. Kanu wasn't an adult yet, but she was getting older; she wanted to go outside and walk around the town, make some friends, and even have a childhood crush but none of that was possible being blind. No one wanted to be her friend, and she wasn't able to walk around town by herself. If Kanu was unable to even make friends she knew it was near impossible to find someone to actually fall in love with her. She was better off accepting that her life was going to be just like it had been for the past 8 years, basically being locked up within her home day dreaming. Nonetheless, for her father and the rest of her family's sake she smiled.

Kanu glanced over hearing a bag rustle and Adrienne explaining that she had something for her. Immediately the girl smiled and perked up, but her enthusiasm was stunted a bit when she heard that it wasn't what she'd been anticipating which was a dress. Placing her hands in her lap, Kanu waited patiently for what was better than a wedding dress by a slight bit. As soft hands grasped her own Kanu allowed her to lift her fingers until Kanu was grasping an oval piece of material with bumps on one side. Kanu frowned using both hands to get an idea of what exactly she was holding. She didn't have to wonder long because her mother spoke up.

"An eye patch?" Katherine questions before looking Adrienne wondering what in the world she intended to do now that she'd given her a patch. As the goddess dug into her pack and pulled out a bottle with strange air within, Katherine moved herself so that she would get a better look at what was about to occur.
Kanu looked forward while running her fingers over the material curiously but she paused when she felt fingers against her skin very light but still very much there. Since Kanu didn't have her eyes she'd need to compensate the loss of the sense with the strength of her other senses since birth, therefore, her sense of touch and hearing were incredible compared to others. Soon enough the fingers were removed and then came a final instruction from Adrienne to look in a certain direction. Kanu frowned but nodded glancing ahead and listening to the soft rustling of a bag before her. During her wait, Kanu listened to Adrienne's quicker breathing wondering what she was anticipating so much, in that next moment everything changed.

A brilliant light so bright that it pierced through the darkness within Kanu's eyes. Like fog fading from a warming window her eyes cleared up. Kanu blinked and then rubbed her eyes before looking out again. Things that she'd never seen before overwhelmed her for a moment before Kanu focused again to Adrienne smiling at her. Kanu blinked again before finding her voice but surprised and in disbelief, "I...I can see?" she questioned. Realizing this wasn't a dream or a vision but reality, the girl quickly stood up and looked to her mother in delight, "Mother I can see! oh Thank you thank you thank you Adrienne!" she calls to the older woman before running to Adrienne and embracing her tightly. Katherine stood up as well in shock, walking towards her daughter Katherine gently stopped her from running around and looked deep into her eyes with her own. There was a moment of silence as Katherine searched her daughter for any lingering blindness, when she saw none the woman pulled the little girl into a hug, "Oh my goodness. You really can see!" she whispers. Kanu nodded again happily, as she nodded she suddenly felt dizzy. Kanu touched her head and took a seat, "Oh, my head feels all fuzzy right now...all of these images are in my head...I can't shut them out." she explains trying to figure out why everything she was seeing suddenly felt like it was being recorded.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne watched as her eyes cleared much like the mist over Kaz's eye had cleared when she'd focused upon removing the protective barrier last time she'd been in this house, when she'd been there with him. She saw Kanu blink and then press her knuckles against her eyes to try to clear the likely blurs from her vision and take everything in. Adrienne grinned, ecstatic that it had worked, and watched as Kanu slowly realized what was happening and bolted to her feet, turning to her mother with an expression of pure delight.

She'd started to stand when Kanu turned in a flurry of thank-you's and ran to her, embracing her so tightly with such momentum, Adrienne nearly fell back into her seat on the couch. Laughing breathlessly, she hugged her back tightly as the moisture in her eyes overflowed with relief and joy for the young girl who she saw and loved as her little sister, just as she loved Katherine and Zekeal as a mother and father. While none of this had taken much time at all, she could feel it in the core of her being and never wanted to let that go. "You're very welcome."

She watched as Kanu darted about again and Katherine stopped her to examine her eyes and then embraced her, still seeming shocked. Adrienne felt the grin spread across her face, only dimming a little as Kanu sat back down mentioning not being able to push the images from her mind. "That's what this is for," Adrienne murmured, realizing it was the photographic abilities of Tirus' eye as she moved forward to gently take the patch from Kanu's hand and place it over the paler of her two eyes, positioning it snugly. She'd fashioned it to be extra soft so it wouldn't chafe against her skin or anything of the like before she got used to it. She could tell her expansion of her mental threshold had worked given her enthusiasm and lack of any pained expression.

Kanu looked up with a blink as Adrienne provided a solution for the strange need she seemed to have to memorize everything she was looking at. Kanu originally thought it was just her eagerness to see the environment she had lived in for the majority of her life. She did, after all, want to see everything that there was to see, she wanted to understand the colors each object emitted and see the decorative patterns. More than anything she also wanted to see what she, Adrienne, and her mother looked like. As Adrienne took the patch she'd been given earlier and put it around her left eye. The younger girl stood still and waited patiently. Feeling the soft material against her eyes the young red haired girl recalled suddenly her mother and brothers abilities and realized that to be the reason why she needed to wear a patch just like them. Her mother seemed to be thinking along the same lines as she looked at Adrienne for clarification.

"So, Kanu also has the gift?" Katherine questions her curiously, shaking her head a bit as she still tried to register exactly what was going on, the woman looked again to her son's girlfriend whom she did very much consider to be like a daughter to her at this point, not even because she had healed the eyesight of her biological daughter. Katherine knew now that Adrienne was much much older than she was and immensely powerful, and yet there was still an intense desire to protect her as if she were a child. It didn't matter to the woman that Adrienne wasn't really slightly younger than her son as she appeared to be, to Katherine she still seemed like a young woman who needed direction and some love. "So then, if you learned how to give Kanu the gift, then does that mean you learned its true origins?" she asks.
As Adrienne questioned her, Kanu glanced about again noting with relief this time that she was able to simply 'see' everything and didn't feel like it was being ingrained into her head. She immediately looked at her mother for a long moment and then at Adrienne. She was surprised that they weren't exactly as she had imagined them which was more like angels of white countenance. Instead her mother had striking hair and Adrienne had beautiful eyes. Thinking about it Kanu stands up and looks down at herself smiling softly as she was finally able to look at one of the many beautiful wedding dresses her brother had sent to her.

"It's just like I imagined it would be." She realizes in delight taking in the slightly different color at her waist as compared to her arm sleeves. Raising her hands she moves some hair from her back to over her shoulder looking at the shade that resembled her mothers. "So this is red..." she realizes before looking to Adrienne, "My brother has red hair too right? I can't wait to 'see' him!" she says in delight. Remembering the promise that was made the last time her eyes glitter and she leans forward, "And brother's ship as well! And the Northern Lights!"

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne fitted the patch and leaned back, giving a nod of approval before looking to Katherine. "Yes, she does," she confirmed, explaining, "It was the only way to give her her sight without completely breaking the curse."

Letting Kanu have a few minutes to do as she wished now that she wasn't in danger of straining her gifted eye, Adrienne moved closer to Katherine to try to explain what she'd found out. "Some, yes. I know where the blindness trait came from, but I still don't know exactly how to break the curse as a whole," she began, soon going into detail on what she'd found out about Tirus' third eye and the guard of its resting place, which had been a member of their ancestry. "I'm afraid that's all I know at present, but I'm working on it, if only for the information's sake," she admitted, noting with the last bit of her statement that should Katherine want to keep her gift, the curse didn't necessarily need to be broken.

She turned to look at Kanu, her smile from speaking to Katherine remaining when she faced the younger girl as she looked over her hair and murmured something about red, memorizing the color. Adrienne nodded in reply to Kanu's question and grinned as she leaned forward with enthusiasm, as if it were weighing her down, pulling her forward. "You'll see all of it, I promise!" Adrienne laughed, thinking over Kaz's condition at present. It would either be a little dangerous for Kanu to be in the area or it would do him some good, maybe bring him back to his head a little. Whether or not he no longer wanted her near him didn't matter much to her, but she was his sister.

Katherine listened calmly to the missing parts of their family history at last being explained to her; this was the part of their history which had somehow, inconveniently, been lost with the generations until at last there came the point in which all anyone in the current generation knew was all rumors and speculation. Katherine listened intently to everything that Adrienne knew and made a point to memorize every single word. She was going to have to record this information into a new book as soon as possible so that future generations wouldn't have the problems they did, especially if there remained a possibility that they would keep their eyes even if the blindness curse was eliminated.

"So then...this was the work of the gods..." Katherine muses while touching her own dark sunglasses. Glancing to her daughter, the woman smiles and removes her thick shades revealing her own eyes to be gold instead of green. Going through her pocket she pulls out her own simple patch and puts it on her left eye while listening to Kanu and Adrienne speak of going to different places. Katherine looked to her daughter, "Yes, but before you leave, I must teach you how to use your gift properly dear. Unfortunately where I had a lot of Kazuki's childhood to teach him, I do not have as much time with you. You're going to have to absorb a lot of information in a very short amount of time." she explains before directing her attention back to Adrienne she smiles knowing that she was basically being asked as well whether or not she wanted to keep her 'gift'.

"I will admit, I have grown quite attached to this ability and so has my family. We have established our livelihood on this gift from the gods. I suspect for myself and a few others we would prefer to keep this Eye of Tirus, however, it would be beneficial to remove the eye from others of my family who have been driven mad. I don't believe it would do any good to their sanity at this point though..." Katherine shrugs her shoulders in a simple and very polite gesture before bending her neck a bit in a slight bow, "Thank you Adrienne. Any more information you receive. Please do let us know of them?" she asks.

Kanu looked from around to room back to her mother as the woman explained that she would need to train in how to use The Eye of Tirus before she could leave for anywhere. Kanu nodded back in understanding even though she didn't want to. It wouldn't be good if something happened that could've been prevented had she listened earlier. Kanu wasn't going to be taking advantage of her ability to see any time soon, nor was she planning on jeopardizing it. Kanu smiled back to Adrienne after the tale was told, "So, what is Tirus, the goddess of light, like? Is she nice?" Kanu asks innocently.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne looked to Kanu as her mother spoke to her, making sure she knew that she had a lot to learn before attempting to use her new gift. She smiled slightly, so glad to have made this change for the young girl; the wonder in her eyes was beautiful and incredible. Looking to Katherine as she admitted her attachment and favor to her gifted eye, Adrienne nodded, understanding. Given her profession and having had it for so long, she wasn't surprised that she would want to keep its abilities. "You're very welcome. And of course I will," she promised. The origin of how the eye had united with their ancestor in the first place was still a slight mystery, but one she intended to solve, once more, if only for the information.

Looking to Kanu, she laughed softly to see the girl nodding in agreement to her mother's wishes, but still looking a bit put-out by not being able to go about her business straight away. Even so, the responsible look on her face made her proud and return the girl's smile the instant it was offered. "Yes, she's very kind," she answered and, upon thinking for a moment of both the goddess's sweetness and slight clumsy stride, she admitted, "You remind me quite a lot of her, actually."

Glancing toward the sky outside, Adrienne noted the time and sighed, figuring she should be getting back in case anything happened. Her gaze fell upon an open mythology text and she stepped over to it, peering at the pages before noting the blue edge of a picture revealed by a slightly curled page, mildly curved with age. Turning it delicately, Adrienne smirked down at the depiction of her on the parchment. "They're slowly getting more accurate as years pass," she admitted with a hint of approval, turning the page back to its previous status before moving to the two women again. "I'd like very much to stay, but I should probably be going," she admitted with a tender smile between the two of them.

Katherine nodded back glad that the goddess seemed to understand her attachment to her eye after so long. While it could serve as an inconvenience at times the truth still remained that her eye had been much more beneficial to her than a burden. In fact, it it hadn't been for her abilities then Katherine never would've become the historian upon The Moon Dust, in turn, she might not have met her late husband Zekeal as a result. She had a lot to owe to the gift of instantly recording everything around her once she saw it with her left eye, and now that her daughter was able to see as well she had one less negative aspect regarding the gift.

Kanu nodded back reluctantly to her mothers insistence on training her. Kanu was eager to get to exploring the outside world but, on the other hand, she guessed that if she didn't learn how to properly control her new gift then she would strain herself and wind up just like Kazuki had when he'd overworked himself and had to return home to get his sight fixed by their mother. The young girl was also going to have to learn how to read and write as well since she'd never had much use for those things being blind. She knew, of course, what letters were and their basic shapes but just as seeing the objects she used daily were startling just a bit she knew she was going to have to get used to actually seeing letters instead of simply imagining them. As Adrienne glanced outside, Kanu followed her gaze as well realizing at once that she really wanted to go outside and see the town, but to her disappointment it seemed that Adrienne wasn't going to be able to join her. She nodded back sadly, "Oh, well alright. Please visit again soon! I mean, when you're not busy." Kanu tells her while standing up. She gives Adrienne one more hug, "Give my brother a hug for me please?" she asks.

Katherine glanced outside hearing Adrienne say that she would have to be going soon. She purses her lips but nods back, "Just as Kanu said Dear. When you find some time don't be a stranger here. Maybe next time you can stay a few days." she tells her standing up and approaching the goddess as well. When her daughter steps to the side, Katherine looks at her for a moment before smiling a little and taking her hand softly, "Have a safe journey back. Thank you for everything you've done." she tells her giving her one final kiss on her forehead but not letting go of her hand, "Here, I'll walk you out Dear." she says while walking towards the hallway.

Down a darker hallway, Kanu glanced about taking in all of the sights and sounds until they reached the front door where Katherine opened it and stepped outside. Kanu followed behind taking a look to the town. It was like being given a new leash on life. She'd make friends, window shop and admire the flower fields as much as possible to make up for lost time. For now she stood outside with her hands in front of her with a smile to send off her new found sister, "Goodbye Adrienne! See you again!" she giggles at her own pun.

At the ship, Captain Kaz was within the sea cabin lost in his own thoughts as he sat at his favorite desk. Unlike the many other times where the young man would sit and gaze at maps and plan strategies for their next plunder he was doing none of the sort this time. With hands clasped Captain Kaz stared to the wall unmoving, his eyes while green held a darkness within them along with the stains of red in his white sclera from lack of rest. While he was exhausted he absolutely couldn't rest, he had much more important things on his mind. Mainly wondering where in world Adrienne had run off to. While one part of him just mused that she probably had some business to attend to concerning her duties as a goddess the other half of him wearily wondered if she weren't planning something behind his back. Why wouldn't she announce to him that she was gone? Why was she suddenly being so sneaky?
'She's planning to betray you...I just knew she couldn't be trusted...' Whispered the voice of his conscience within him. Captain Kaz felt inclined to agree.

Outside of the cabin, Ven and Neda stared at the locked door in concern.
"He really isn't himself...is he?" Neda asked her boyfriend with a furrowed brow. She knew that Adrienne had mentioned it earlier, but now, seeing it for herself she realized just how weird their Captain was being. It wasn't even a bad day mood that he sometimes got into. This Kaz wasn't Kaz at all. Ven nodded back pensively, "When we went to greet the carpenter and blacksmith he wasn't himself in the least. He kept insisting that we make the ship strong enough to withstand the gods. I've never heard Captain Kaz mention anything about modifying the ship before, Selene's design means far too much to him. He usually doesn't even like the idea of improving her wood and sails to better materials. I told him to sleep on that thought because it was a big one." Ven frowns, "He nearly bit my head off about why I was defying his orders. I don't know what's going on here, but that in there isn't my best friend." Ven says with confidence.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne noted the sadness and slight disappointment on Kanu's face with a bit of guilt and sadness of her own. Taking her tightly into her arms, she promised, "Of course I will. I look forward to seeing the both of you. I missed you both, truthfully, though it hasn't been very long." She reluctantly let the girl go and nodded in reply to her request to give Kaz a hug for her. If anything, she supposed she could just tell him. She doubted he'd want to get near her, even if it was to receive a sent hug from his sister.

Pursing her lips at that thought, she turned to Katherine, noting the endearments the woman used while addressing her. She'd used them last time, too, but they caught her every time. "There's no need to thank me. And of course, thank you, Mrs. Topaz," she smiled softly. When she took her hand and kissed her forehead, Adrienne warmed, glad that she didn't let go and instead held her hand as they walked to the door, the three of them.

She looked around at the town nearby and the green grass that covered Nottingham when they left the house, breathing in the sweet country air before turning to Kanu with a soft smile as the girl giggled, her signature grin on her face. "Yes, you will," she smiled, unable to help herself from hugging the girl again and dropping a kiss to her forehead before pulling away and nibbling her lip in slight hesitation. After a few seconds, Adrienne stepped forward and embraced Katherine as well, but gingerly, giving the woman time to step away from her if she wanted. Once her gesture was either accepted or rejected, Adrienne beamed at both of them and murmured, "Take care, both of you," before shifting into vapor, knowing she'd just stay longer if she didn't go now. She was immediately in transit to the Selene, but missing them already.

In the living room, on the couch, she'd made appear a beautifully carved wooden chest filled to the brim with gold coins, jeweled trinkets, and other expensive items of the like that could be sold for money, giving the two women enough to last them for at least two years to come. She planned to visit much before then, but she wanted to make sure they had both everything they needed and wanted for the time in between. Having known it may be difficult to convince Katherine to accept the fineries she'd noticed they'd needed, given the complete absence of servants, she'd simply left it for them to find as a parting gift, perfectly willing and glad she could help.

She arrived back at the ship within good time, moving back to corporeal form on the deck and accidentally startling one of the crew, Aiden. "I'm so sorry," she admitted sheepishly, "I'm not quite used to this yet," but he waved her off, laughing at the slight scare he'd had and welcoming her back. Smiling, she saw Neda and Ven standing outside the cabin and she looked at the door warily, feeling a little sick at being back, which was a feeling she'd never thought she'd experience regarding the Selene or Kazuki.

Kanu grinned wide as Adrienne hugged her and gave her a kiss on her forehead. She stalled when the woman returned to her mother and stood there for a pregnant moment before hugging her as well. For a moment, Katherine paused unsure if she were really being hugged or whether she was misinterpreting the gesture for something else. After a paused she found herself smiling a little as she realized that, indeed, Adrienne was hugging her. Raising her own arms Katherine hugged her back a little big tighter, "Goodbye Dearest." she says again softly before pulling away when Adrienne did. With one final wave both ladies watched in awe as the woman dissolved into the wind and blew away. Once Adrienne was completely out of sight, Katherine let her hand drop but she didn't immediately look away from the direction she'd seen Adrienne go. Looking up to the skies, Katherine smiled, "So that's my daughter-in-law. I'm glad Zekeal could meet her as well." she muses before turning around to go back into the house. Overhearing her mothers musings Kanu shot a glance to the woman in excitement.

"Daughter in law? Do you really think Kazuki is going to marry Adrienne?" she asks following the older woman and shutting the door behind herself. She was going to have to make a point before evening to go outside again, but for now Kanu wanted to explore the rest of the house. Katherine nodded with a hum to her voice, "I'm fairly confident." she says stopping and looking up at the portrait with her husband. Instead of the bittersweet smiles she used to give the picture, she smiles back peacefully remembering his last words to her, "I'm sure Zekeal saw it as well." she says in confidence. Soon enough the smile falters a bit and Katherine looks down with a small sigh. Now that the pleasant part of the day was over, they were going to have to address the more pressing matters, "Let's continue packing up Kanu. I don't want to lose that cottage to someone else because we weren't able to get everything outside quick enough to auction off." she explains looking around the house at all of their valuables.
She'd known it would happen as soon as Captain Stefan passed away. Their steady income was completely gone and therefore their living allowance as well. Katherine knew that she'd managed their finances well enough that they could've lasted another two months in their home living the same way they had been but that was only if they expended all of their savings. They would be better off selling off everything right now and downsizing. Katherine was grateful at least that Kanu had her sight now, for she'd been worried the transition would be tough on her daughter being blind. Kanu had memorized the entire estate but in a new house she would be starting from scratch and doing it largely alone because Katherine was going to have to go and find some work to keep them alive. She sighed before straightening her shoulders preparing herself for this next major step when Kanu gasped.

"Mother look! On the couch aren't they beautiful!" Kanu says noticing the chest. Sitting beside it, she opens it slowly and marvels at the lovely fineries within. Pulling out an expensive diamond Kanu smiles wide, "Adrienne must have left them here for us!"
Katherine's mouth as slightly parted as she rushed over to observe the chest for herself. Sure enough there were beautiful jewels and gold coins within, some many that they filled the brim. Katherine dropped her shoulders and shook her head with a fond smile realizing that Adrienne must've guessed their predicament, "What a girl..." she says affectionately before sitting down and picking up a ruby, "If we sell these, I don't believe we will have to move." Katherine estimates. Her daughter beamed at her, "Really?! Mother do you mean it?"

"Yes of course, we need only to put them on display somewhere in the house, make a jewelry store of sorts. I think we'll make it. In the meantime we'll find a reliable source of income so we needn't be pushed into this situation again." Katherine says. She didn't like accepting charity from others, but it wasn't as if she could pursue Adrienne to give back the beautiful jewels. Katherine was sure anyway that the goddess wouldn't take them back no matter how much she insisted. So, the best thing she could do was spend them wisely to maintain their lifestyle.

Hearing a startled yelp, Neda and Ven turned around a bit to see one of their ship mates Aiden laughing merrily as Adrienne aplogized for startling him. Watching the woman approach them again, Neda gives a small smile but it wasn't all that happy.
"Hey there, welcome back." Neda greets before frowning, "I wish I could say you've returned to something good, but...Kazuki is getting a whole lot worse." she admits.
"Yea...actually I think he's angry with you for some reason." Ven explains, "I wouldn't go in there if I were you. Maybe give him a day to cool off?" he suggests worried about her. He wouldn't wish Kazuki's presence on his worst enemies at the moment, not when his Captain was acting so strange and completely not himself.
Neda nodded back, "He's just not Kazuki. Are you sure those powers can't overwhelm someone and make them completely the opposite of who they are or something? If I didn't know any better I'd say the guy in that cabin is an imposter." Neda crosses her arms and continues to wearily watch the door. She somewhat wished her friend had stayed away but another part of her remained stubbornly hopeful that Adrienne might snap their Captain out of this strange behavior and bring him back to himself. If anyone could do it, it would be Adrienne.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne noted immediately that something was even worse off than when she'd left. Neda's smile wasn't even reassuring, it was just barely there. When at last her lips dipped into a frown, Adrienne frowned as well and heard precisely what she'd not wanted to hear: the truth. Clenching her jaw a little when Ven mentioned him being mad at her, Adrienne admitted, "I'm not surprised. And I suppose that would be best, or at least wait awhile..." Hell, he didn't trust her, he probably thought she was a traitor now or concocted some harebrained illusion that never even happened... It was sad how upset she had to be with him because he was acting this way although, unluckily for him, her previous shock and despair was swiftly transitioning into anger at the injustice of all this.

Looking to Neda, Adrienne shook her head. "They shouldn't. Power itself has no bias. It's the wielder," she told her, but she'd admittedly wondered the same thing. Something wasn't right, it shouldn't have been like this. Everything should have gone differently, they should have been happy, scouring the seas together, or at least helping each other in this time of turmoil. However, that certainly wasn't happening and she doubted it would until something changed.

Ven nodded back feeling some relief that Adrienne seemed to agree with him. If Captain Kaz really was, somehow, just in a particularly foul mood this day then he felt it would be best if Adrienne didn't see him. That way when he cooled down and found that he missed his girlfriend they would be able to go to one another without any hostility from a prior fight. Sure, Captain Kaz might end up angry with his first mate for not bending to his wish of immediately finding Adrienne and bringing her directly to the Captain but Ven felt it was the best solution for everyone involved. Besides, the young man wasn't even sure if Kazuki wouldn't hurt Adrienne in the dark mood that he had been in all day long. It wasn't apart of his best friends personality to be so hostile towards people he cared about. True, he did expect this behavior around enemies and strangers but Adrienne was the love of his life, although the way he had spoken of her moments before Adrienne arrived hadn't made it seem like they were an item. Until he started showing the love and compassion that Kazuki typically showed Ven was going to make it a point to stand in the way of them meeting one another again.

Neda felt sympathetic that she wasn't able to deliver better news but the female pirate wasn't in the business of lying to her friends, especially not her closet friend Adrienne. Nodding back to her answer about the possibility of Elspers powers getting the better of him and somehow warping the red haired man's personality she sighs actually disappointed that they were without that excuse.
"Well, suppose that were to be the case, if someone's powers overwhelmed and changed someone what would you guys do about that?" she asks wondering if they couldn't just give it a shot. Before Neda could receive her answer though a deadly chill sliced through the air so painfully clear that everyone above deck froze up and looked towards the door. There was a black mist coming from beneath the wood. It was creeping along resembling a snake in its movement but having no specific form or shape to it.

The door slowly creaked open and there stood Captain Kaz with blank eyes and a none too pleased expression, "So there you are..." He whispers before touching his patch lightly, "My eye told me you'd finally arrived. So? Where were you?" He dares while stepping closer his boots clicking along the foods like those of a strangers. The first mate set his expression and stepped forward blocking the path Kaz had to Adrienne. Kazuki stopped and glared, "Ven? What are you doing? Move aside." he says quietly
"Captain, I can't do that. Something's wrong with you. Maybe you should go and see Dorian." He suggests gently, but his friend wasn't listening. He simply shook his head looking even more irritated, "You're going to turn on me to?" He asks
At the question, Ven blinked in shock and loosened his shoulders, "Turn? Wh-No Captain of course not!" he says in surprise.
"Then move it." There was a threatening edge this time, but Ven wasn't paying enough attention as he shook his head.
"Capt I--"
"I said MOVE!" A dangerous spark of his eyes and Captain Kaz had extended a hand. Ven only had the opportunity to yelp once as a burst of black cloud appeared in front of him and then expanded powerfully. The force was so great that Ven was strewn through the air. His head slammed against the mast with a sickening crack before he crumbled to the ground. Neda screamed and raced to her boyfriend but Kaz didn't even seem to notice as he turned back to Adrienne, "Now, answer the question." he continues.
