Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne tried very hard to believe Neda. However, the other woman hadn't seen what she'd seen. She'd felt the separation between them and it had hurt her more than the bone-crushing blows of his darker self, had scared her more than the feeling of being contained and unable to move. Glancing over when Neda commented on her ability, she shrugged a little, "In a way. It works better on others than it does on me." She didn't try to reason with Neda anymore; if she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would be able to sense that something was horribly wrong. She knew it, but hadn't a clue of what she would do about it.

Adrienne looked over again to Kaz when a shadow was cast over herself and Neda, finding that he'd raised an enormous wave of energy, only to send it down upon the deck of his beloved ship and set it on fire. She pursed her lips, watching as he quickly took it away when Ven came out to say something to him. She saw the unease on Ven's face and knew it was mirrored upon her own. Frowning slightly, Adrienne looked up at the sky, thinking again to the dream, how she'd snapped out of her trance with all these bruises and a snake bite, which brought her once again to if the vipers Elsper manifested (now Kaz) tied in with the curse upon Kaz's family which included the use of viper venom.

She once more considered who she could ask about that and soon, her mind traveled to Tirus. Not only was she the Goddess of Wisdom, but she and Elsper had also been long-standing enemies, although they'd never been outright about their feud. Sighing softly, Adrienne told Neda, "I'll be back in a little while. I need to go speak with someone." With a slight smile that couldn't quite mask all her worries, Adrienne said, "Thank you, Neda. I'll see you later." After giving her a brief hug, Adrienne disappeared into vapor and glided out of the crow's nest, glancing back once more at her much-changed lover before catching the next wind to the west, figuring the quickest way to the Middle East was to cut across the Pacific.

Soon enough, Adrienne arrived at Tirus' temple, figuring it would be a good place to start to look for the goddess. Tentatively, she glanced around to see if there was anyone around before reappearing and venturing inside. "Tirus? Are you there?"

Neda watched in surprise as her Captain seemed to gain more and more control over his new found powers. Then started to get braver in expanding them. Seeing a powerful wave of power shoot up into the skies and even a bit over their heads, the female pirate recoiled back a bit afraid that he might lose control and send the darkness on top of them which she was sure would hurt both herself and Adrienne even if she wasn't sure how. Just as Neda considered retreating he sent the wave crashing down hap hazardously onto the surface of The Dark Selene and then sent the liquid into a sea of fire. Neda wanted to scream out and demand to know what he was thinking. It was as if he were setting his own ship on fire! Although she could clearly see that the flames were not doing any damage to the ship at the moment she also knew that he was still practicing and learning his powers. It was simply reckless to practice while onboard the ship like this! Neda opened up her mouth to protest but suddenly the flames ended just as Ven came into view. Neda sighed in relief looking around the ship to make sure Kazuki hadn't missed any spots or did any permanent damage. Seeing none she sighed again, "What's going on with him? That was dangerous!" she exclaims. Behind her Adrienne mirrored her own worry. They both knew now that Captain Kaz was definitely not himself, something was going on, but was it just because of Elspers powers? She wasn't entirely sure.

When Adrienne said she needed to go talk to someone, Neda nodded back figuring that her friend was off to get some answers. She didn't blame her one bit. "Good Luck." Neda says giving her a firm hug, "I'll keep and eye on the Captain while you're away." she reassures her friend. With one final glance down to Captain Kaz as he walked away with Ven, Adrienne became vapor again and left with the winds.

The temple was an old one with many tall and graceful corridors and hallways sparkling with marble walls and limestone flooring. In one particular room the splendor was even more grand that the entire temple combined. It was the one and only room that almost no one, not even the temples shrine keepers and maidens were allowed to enter except on special days sanctioned for cleaning and purification. In this room the floors were crested with yellow rivers stones and a waterfall spray down against a silvery stone wall. A grand tree rose up the the furthest corner of the room just high enough to cover over the small opening in a glassed ceiling to spread out its branches. In the middle lay a magnificent statue of a regal woman of pure gold standing with a plain wooden scepter. This was where Adrienne stood calling for Tirus.

Hearing the call,Tirus a young woman who actually looked very little like the statue appeared from beneath a glittered veil concealing a soft cushion for her. A book had been laid on the floor where she was reading about some magical story created by humans. Standing up she peers through the veil and brightens at a familiar sight, "I'm here." she calls before jogging forward. A few steps before she reached Adrienne, she tripped against the great trees roots and stumbled forward a bit only barely managing to catch herself. Stopping, she turns around to glare at the root, "Every single time. One of these days I'm going to ask the god of the forest to move that trees roots." she declares before turning back to Adrienne. Clasping her hands before her back she walks forward with a smile, "Nerissa, I didn't get a chance to speak with you at the trial. I'm glad to see you are back to the way you were before." she says sincerely, "So what brings you here?"

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne was relieved when she heard the goddess's voice echo from the ancient tree inside the beautiful marble and limestone temple, glad she didn't have to look elsewhere because, honestly, Adrienne hadn't a clue of where else to look. Smiling softly as she approached the other goddess, Adrienne was prepared to speak when Tirus tripped over one of the great tree's roots and stumbled forward. The sea goddess moved quickly up to catch her if need be, but the Goddess of Light and Wisdom righted herself, shooting a glare toward the root. Nodding agreement, Adrienne admitted, "Yes, Polonius could have picked a better spot for that one..."

Returning her eyes to Tirus, Adrienne's tender look resumed and she returned the woman's gesture with a smile. It really was wonderful to see her again, she was always such a bright presence wherever she went. She would have been even without the powers of light on her side. "Thank you, my friend," she replied in an equally sincere voice, meaning to more levels than just the woman's well wishes. She was also incredibly grateful for her support in her appeal, knowing what a risk it had been for all those who had backed her up to have done so.

She swallowed and moved over to sit down on one of the intricately carved marble benches in the room before admitting, "In addition to extending my thanks, I wanted to ask you a question about Elsper, in a way, but also about a human family. I figured you may be able to help me for your wisdom and also what you know of her. The human family has a curse upon them, passed down over generations. Some have a special eye which can remember things in perfect detail and some are born blind, but an oddity to this is that viper venom heals the eye if it's hurt..."

Adrienne frowned, not sure how this was sounding to Tirus. "And I knew Elsper always favored her vipers... I was just making assumptions, possibly, but I was hoping you could tell me whether there could be a connection there or not."

Tirus exchanged a warm smile with Nerissa before following her over to one of the lovely benches set out within the room for her. She waited as Nerissa took a seat first before lowering herself in the spot right beside her, turning so that she was facing her friend and able to listen to her troubles. After the thanks and initial greeting she watched in interest as Nerissa's expression changed to become just a tad more serious and she explained why she'd traveled to the temples to see her. Tirus raised her eyes just a bit in surprise. As Nerissa finished her question, Tirus nodded back, "Oh! You're speaking of the Topaz family!" she realizes with a small snap of her fingers. Trius nods back to confirm what she had already spoken, "Yes, that happened quite some time ago with Yamoto Topaz, a shrine hand of mine. I am unsure of the entire tale myself, I only arrived later, but somehow in some way Yamoto got ahold of my eye. You remember don't you? The one you, Alastar and Sapphronius helped me to remove because it was too powerful? It was a complete disaster! I suspected Elsper having something to do with it as well, but with the only evidence being viper venom within his veins and shattered glass upon the floor I didn't have enough evidence to accuse Elsper." Tirus rolls her eyes, "As she enjoyed pointing out after the fact, she wasn't the only god with an affinity for vipers." she explains before lowering her hands politely upon her lap and looking knowingly to Adrienne.

"You question this because of the mortal Kazuki? He is the one being accused of killing Elsper and he possesses the eye. To be honest, I believe Elsper got just what she deserved." Tirus says with a firm face and a nod, "She always did enjoy meddling where she did not belong. This time she took her games too far. I can have no sympathy for one who would go out of her way to torment others so mercilessly." Tirus declares before losing some of her strong face and showing just a bit of her worry, "Although...I am concerned about Kazuki now myself... now that he is a god he should have the ability to tap into the true powers of my eye..." she muses quietly.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne's brow rose in surprise when Tirus immediately named Kaz's family as the one she was speaking of. At first she wondered if perhaps she knew from perhaps hearing Kaz's full name during a meeting or something, but as she listened, she realized somehow their fates had yet again become intertwined without knowing it at all. Yes, she definitely remembered Tirus' third eye and the trouble it had been to extract it. She'd been happy to help her, but that had been a long, tedious task. She nodded as Tirus spoke, considering it and giving her a sympathetic glance when she'd mentioned suspecting Elsper but not having any grounds to support the accusation.

She smiled slightly when Tirus noted that Elsper had gotten what she deserved, glad to have the woman's support. Adrienne frowned lightly, knowing the all-seeing powers of Tirus' eye may be way too much for Kaz to handle, especially in his state of mind. What if he got worse? Wetting her lips, Adrienne thought of Kanu and ventured to ask, "What causes certain descendants to be born with the power of your eye and others to be born blind? Can the blind be given back their sight without fully getting rid of the ability in all the family?" It made her a little more at ease to hear Tirus speak of Kaz and his family in such a familiar tone; at least she and Shiva weren't the only ones who would fight for him, amongst the gods, anyway.

Tirus nodded to herself as she finished speaking her mind about the whole Elsper incident. The two goddesses had never been friends, which she knew was to be expected in all honesty because the two women were created opposites; Tirus was light and Elsper had been darkness. Where one had the desire to do all good, the other had the intense need to do bad. The two were forever rivals and not friendly ones in any respect though Tirus felt justified in this situation for feeling no pity for the deceased woman. It did still bother her that it had been that easy a task to do. Somehow something just didn't quite add up regarding the entire tale. She was confused as to how the fire even managed to hold the goddess of the shadows when the entire ceremony had been created specifically for Adrienne's imprisonment. For the moment at least, Tirus filed away this suspicion for another time. Adrienne hadn't arrived to hear her doubts after all, she wanted some information about the gift of the eye and the curse of blindness.

"Actually, all of Yamoto's descendants are born with my eye. Even if they are born blind they still possess the ability." she corrects gently. Knowing that her statement was going to harness some confusion from her friend Tirus moved on to explain, "You see, I am the one that cursed the family with blindness. I did it at the request of Yamoto. He discovered after he had his first child that their newborn was born too with the gift, but it proved to be far too powerful for the child. When I looked at the baby I realized that even as he grew older he'd never have the mental capability to handle the stress of my eye even to the small extent that they are able to tap into. I wanted to remove the eye, and I still do but I cannot. There is a barrier that prevents me from extracting the eye from any of the Topaz family. To give the child some relief I cursed him with eternal blindness. And so, if my eye is too powerful for the child then they are born blind. This can easily be remedied, but upon removing my curse the blind descendant will be overwhelmed with pain as there will be no more barrier between my eye and their body." she explains softly before shaking her head, "The viper venom, I have deduced is simply too powerful to completely extract. It is as immortal as my eye. The venom can be removed however only by the god of darkness. It actually helps a bit as it serves to make the eye unable to complete all of its normal functions, something that would make the mortal user go mad, unless the eye is overused to the extent that it weakens. Then the viper venom gains a foot hole and attempts to overwhelm the eye. This is why viper venom recovers blindness in those already possessing the gift." she explains while gazing at the waterfall on the other side of the room. "With Kazuki being the new god of chaos you could get him to remove the venom, although I wouldn't recommend it until the eye is lifted from his family. It'll only cause pain to them."

Finishing speaking, Tirus looks at Adrienne trying to determine what she felt listening to the reasons behind the cursing and the gift. She could sense that there was more to this question, a bigger goal in mind, but she wasn't quite sure yet what it was. For a moment she missed her eye as she would've been able to tap into its powers to get the answers she wanted, but Tirus knew the reason why she'd given up such immense opportunity.
Sometimes it was simply better to not know. If one wasn't sure there left an opportunity to create and nurture trust. Sometimes, a person simply didn't want or need to know everything. Tirus had lost her eye millennial ago but she didn't regret it. She was concerned about it being misused however, although, she was very impressed with the responsible way the Topaz family had used their newly inputted talent. Tirus only hoped that they would continue to be responsible with it and that Kazuki wouldn't get in over his head. He especially could turn their worlds upside down if he only tapped into the infinite abilities and used them with a cynical intention.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne's brow rose at Tirus' correction and she leaned eagerly forward to listen to the tale long forgotten by the Topaz line. She tried to commit all this to memory as she heard it, finding it as easy as usual, but wishing she had some of the photographic memory abilities Kaz and his mother possessed if only to reassure herself that she wouldn't forget anything. So the problem was the mental power capacity and its ratio to the power of Tirus' eye.

Tapping her chin as she listened to the rest of the explanation, definitely memorizing the part with the viper venom that Kaz could perform after the eye was lifted from his family, which she assumed Tirus didn't know the way of since she didn't mention it. Still something left to understand. Even so, she returned to thinking of the ratio of powers, treating it like a formula of sorts.

Nibbling her lip, she figured perhaps, in practical circumstances, the answer was simple. Were the mental capacity to handle the power to increase, the eye would kickstart and the blindness meant to relieve the pain formerly induced by said eye would be lifted. That was at least the ideal. Things weren't horribly complicated with castings, so she had a hefty amount of confidence in this plan.

Leaning forward with a sliver of hope in her eyes, Adrienne asked, "Would increasing the mental capacity give the individual her sight? And it's safe to assume...that you're not certain as to how to remove the eye from his lineage?"

When Nerissa leaned in a bit closer and with more eagerness to hear the story between the Topaz family and her eye, the woman cleared her throat a bit and straightened up making sure that her voice was loud and clear so that her friend could remember every detail. When she finished explaining everything that she knew about the curse and the gift, she watched in interest as her friend fell silent and started to contemplate something. While Nerissa thought, Tirus touched the petals of a smaller cherry blossom tree just over their heads within the large room. Most of the time Tirus spent her off time within this place in her man made temple. Even though mortals had created it, she thought it was pleasant enough and was content with the space they'd granted her. Tirus knew that she could've made something more extravagant and grand, but sometimes the biggest wasn't always the best, at least she was among the easier goddesses to locate because of her immobility.

Tirus looked back over when Nerissa seemed to figure something out within her own mind. She inquired about a solution to the blindness confirming what she thought might be a solution to it. Tirus nodded back, "Yes, if you could raise that persons mental capacity then my curse will not affect them." For a moment her expression brightened and Tirus extended a hand. A beautiful teapot appeared in a burst of light followed by a small matching tea cup.
"You see the individual family members are like this cup. My eye is like the water in this pot." she explains before pouring the water into the cup. "This is not intelligence, it is memory if you will. The capability to hold large sums of memory for a long time. Some mortals have large short term memory and others have large long term memory. If the family members have longer short term memory then my eye overwhelms their long term memory." she explains continuing to pour the water into the small cup even though it was already flooding out.

"Now, the curse is a cover over the top." Tirus explains summoning forth a cover and placing it over the cup. She starts to pour the water again, "Now the inside isn't harmed anymore but of course the inside cannot gaze out any longer." she says before making the tea set disappear again. With a small glow of her eyes she concentrates on her hand. At first nothing happens but then a brilliant blinding light blinks into existence for a split second and goes away in its place is a beautiful bottle filled with something with no solid body. Holding up the bottle the air within went from clear to a beautiful yellow and then shimmering blue. Tirus held out the potion, "You are asking this because you want to lift the curse of darkness from one of the family. This is some of my light. If you have her look at this with her blind eyes the darkness will be lifted." she explains.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne felt satisfied that she'd come up with a solution for at least Kanu's portion of the curse, or rather layered spells obscuring her sight. Protecting her, as history would have it. She tilted her head a little to the side as Tirus seemed to get an idea and summoned a teapot and teacup into her hands, beginning to pour water into the cup while explaining what both represented. The metaphor was done very well and it helped Adrienne get a better understanding and a visual for what the two curses were to each other and their bearer. She looked back to Tirus when the teaset disappeared to see the woman focusing hard on her hand.

She waited patiently, squinting when a blinding light erupted from the goddess' palm. When she looked fully upon her hand again, there was a small bottle which at first appeared to be empty until Tirus held it up a bit and the air inside changed. Taking the bottle when it was offered to her, holding it delicately in her hands, Adrienne looked up in surprise when Tirus told her that she'd given her some of her light. Her features tightened a little with gratitude as she listened and she voiced that gratitude in a deep-felt, "Thank you so much for your help." She rose and took the woman's hand again, smiling softly as she said, "It was wonderful to see you. I'd love to stay and talk more, but with how Kazuki's doing..." She sighed a little, giving herself a quick shake before releasing Tirus' hand. "I should go. Thank you again!"

With that, Adrienne gave a little wave and hurried off from the temple, the bottle clutched in her hands as she burst into vapor, mid-sprint, heading then toward Liverpool with a real, consuming grin on her face. She couldn't wait to arrive, but wasn't sure how she should go about doing that. She figured by now, Katherine knew who she was, especially after the chess match. She hoped there was no animosity toward her for that... She'd have prevented it if she could have, but at the time it had been beyond her control. She nearly began to worry in terms of Stefan being there, that was, until she remembered he was dead. Adrienne frowned as she caught sight of the house, wondering how they were doing with him gone; if they were stable. If not, she could help there, as well.

Taking the safe route, Adrienne touched down outside the door, manifesting with a worn brown cloak covering her--there were no servants where they could see her--and knocked, waiting until she heard the doorhandle turn, hoping for the best as she quickly made a brown drawstring bag appear, stowing the bottle of light inside. She was nearly thrumming with energy and excitement, nerves only adding to her restlessness.

Tirus smiled and gave the bottle over to Nerissa willingly, smiling a little more softly as she received a very sincere thank you from the woman, "Anytime Nerissa. I mean that." she tells her sincerely. Though she hadn't mentioned it, when Adrienne had been turned into a human being she had been guilty about being unable to do anything for the other goddess. Or at least not as much as she could've done to perhaps keep her safer and more comfortable. The only thing she'd been able to do was hand the torch off to a young mortal man and hope for the best based on what she knew of him. It had been a bargain with a high probability of success but a bargain nonetheless. She'd discovered almost immediately that neither herself of Shiva could undo the binding. From human hands she had been reduced to human form so a human once again had to be the one to undo the damage. Tirus would never forget just how big of a help Nerissa had been to her in removing her third eye; the very topic of their recent discussion. It was a powerful tool with incredible power too much really for anyone to possess let alone be created with as she had been. Fate had even told her that they wanted to instead find a way to destroy the magnificent source of power instead of preserving it and giving it to the humans to use for their purposes. Mortals would never be strong enough to harness the true powers and abilities of the eye, it was safe down there. Until Elsper set her violet gaze upon it, but there was still no proof and with the goddess of mischief and chaos gone for good there would probably never be the proof to convict her for the crime.

Tirus's expression opened up as Nerissa explained that she had to be leaving quickly now that she had the information she wanted. Before Tirus could stop her the woman was already but a wift on the wind dancing to her destination. Tirus held herself with a small shake her of head. She hadn't understood what the goddess of the sea had been talking about when she said that she was worried about Kazuki. It hadn't sounded as if she were fretting over the trial and finding evidence, that the goddess of knowledge was sure about. Tirus had also wanted to warn her of the potential catastrophe were the mortal turned god to start tapping into the eye. Where Tirus had used a teacup in her example, in Kaz's case he was a cauldron; more than enough to tap inside of to the even most dormant talents her eye possessed. And if he did that, without the wisdom to accompany his new found power, they could all possibly be doomed. Tirus had also wanted to run her suspicions past Nerissa of the death of Elsper and just how... convenient it had all seemed to play out. Tirus sighs, she was just going to have to mention it the next time they came across one another. Preferably before the appeal trial.

In Liverpool, in a large estate a single door was being rapped upon insistently. Curled up upon the couch, Katherine sighs and closes her book before rising from her place. She looked much more tired than when Kazuki had visited her, for she had gone through much more now that Stefan was dead. With no more steady income, there were no more servants bustling around the property tending to the plants nor cleaning up the house. It was much quieter and darker both inside of the house and outside with only two women living there, and receiving no company.

Answering the door and seeing a strange figure in a worn down cloak, Katherine purses her lips unsure of whether or not to even question this stranger or to just err on the side of caution and shut the door. After a moment of indecision she squares her shoulders.
"Yes? I am Katherine Topaz the owner of this estate. What can I do for you?" she asks.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne had been touched by the sincerity in Tirus' voice and it had only been as she wove across the winds from the Middle East toward Liverpool that she realized Tirus had tried to stop her before she left and she felt badly, realizing she'd not given the woman much of a goodbye. Figuring they would catch up soon enough, hopefully before the next trial, she let it go, but that brought her to another problem. How the hell was she going to explain Kaz's absence if Katherine asked? She'd promised to take care of him and look what had happened! Guilt suddenly pooled cold in Adrienne's chest and she nearly lost her nerve and left when the doorknob turned and she heard Katherine's voice.

Taking a deep breath, Adrienne looked up at the woman enough that the sunlight slanted across most of her face and murmured, "Hello, Mrs. Topaz," with a soft smile on her face. As she was shown in, she felt horrid, able to sense her confusion, her glances outside looking for her son. While he wasn't dead and she could deliver that news, she didn't know what she was going to say to other questions she knew would come. Swallowing hard, she could only think repeatedly that by letting her down in this way, she'd given Katherine one more reason to hate the sea, and her, now.

Katherine looked suspiciously at the figure standing in her doorway until she removed the hood. Recognizing the face to be the very same one that belonged to Kazuki's girlfriend her eyes widened, "Adrienne, what are you doing here? So soon after visiting the first time." she remarks before glancing past her. She couldn't help the action and when she didn't find what she was searching for, Katherine gathered up her dress and stepped outside a bit to look around the property. She didn't see a horse and carriage as had been there before which Kazuki might've been tending to, nor did she see any chests outside. Her son was no where to be found in the vicinity. Katherine frowned in concerned and looked back to Adrienne, "Where's my son?" she questions her. Seeing the guilty expression across the young woman's face, Katherine's brow furrowed for a moment then she paled, "My son...he isn't....he's alright isn't he?" she asks in dread.

She remembered this scenario far too well. Someone knocking on her door, and she answered it and saw a familiar face with a somber expression. Katherine had been sent below deck when the pirates had attacked. She had waited with Kanu in a small room feeling relatively calm about the entire situation. There was no possible way that pirates were going to manage to take The Moon Dust from the Navy, so she was simply hoping that they would all hurry up above deck with the fighting so that she could get back to her work. When the door had been rapped and Katherine had answered it, there stood one of her husbands men apologizing to her. She had asked where her husband was so that she could speak to him and was met with a heart chilling silence.

It had happened again just yesterday as well. A Navy Lieutenant coming to her door step and saluting her. When she'd asked where Captain Stefan was she'd been met with an apology and then the announcement that The Moon Dust had last been spotted sailing into Isla Sirena, pursuing her son in The Dark Selene. While The Moon Dust had been reported going into the supposedly cursed island, they had never received word about it coming back out. Katherine hadn't held any intimate remorse for her second husband; the man was a source of steady income more than a source of love and affection. Her mind had immediately raced to the possibility of Kazuki also failing to make it out of Isla Sirena. She had dreaded that Adrienne, or Venice, or any other of his crew or his pirate friends coming to her door without him in tow. Telling her the words that she was positive would now rip her in two. Just like before, someone was at her door. Now it was he son being taken away by the sea.

"Mother? Whose at the door?" Came a small voice from further within the house. After not hearing an answer, Kanu placed a hand against the railing and slowly worked her way downstairs wearing a silvery wedding gown different from the one she'd worn the last time. As she reached the last step, she glided down the hallway and towards the front door with a steadying hand against the wall. She stopped as she sensed that the door was opened but no one was stepping inside or out. Her mother was still silent. Kanu frowned knowing that something was wrong, "Mother? What's wrong?'" she asks feeling a slight edge of panic in her voice.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne looked up at the woman with wide eyes and was momentarily distracted as she heard a smaller voice from further inside the house and she felt energy race through her frame again at being able to help the girl she heard coming nearer. Looking back to Katherine, she gave the woman an honestly elated smile and nodded, "He's alive and well," which he was, just tired, mostly, although she couldn't help the slight sting she felt at thinking of him. At his rejection of her. Chewing on her lip a little, she elaborated, "He's taking care of some things in the Caribbean at present and, well, I suppose I should explain some more things before getting to why I'm here."

She figured it was about time she told Katherine, since obviously she didn't know. She appreciated Kanu keeping her secret and when the girl appeared downstairs, Adrienne smiled warmly. "Hi there," she greeted her, knowing she'd really be able to share a smile with her later, believing in Tirus' power and the goddess, herself. Seeing Katherine's still slightly concerned look, Adrienne gently took her hand and reassured her with, "He's fine. Took down Davy Jones, as a matter of fact..." Sure, she was somewhat using that as a distraction for Kaz's mother, but she would cling to what threads she could grasp. Frowning as the Fates' words echoed through her mind again, sharing a similar metaphor, she moved to embrace Kanu as she fumbled forward a little, looking for her.

Katherine watched the woman in front of her intently until she heard the words she'd been hoping to hear but hadn't expected. When she was reassured that her son was alive and well, Katherine put a hand to her chest and breathed out through a small hole in her lips softly, "Thank goodess..." she whispers in relief. Somehow, her son had beaten all of the odds and was fine in the sea. Nodding along to the important matters in the Caribbean and to the announcement that he had defeated Captain Davy Jones. Katherine sighs again this time in a much more composed way. She took one more glance outside and shakes her head, "Well, I suppose work is necessary especially when he's doing so many amazing things. I do hope he doesn't forget to visit his family soon." she says wistfully before looking again to Adrienne, "I'm sorry dear, my manners aren't proper. Come inside won't you?" she invites Adrienne stepping to the side a bit to allow her to enter the house and take off her cloak, "I'll prepare some tea." she offers before leaving. As she walked, she passed by her daughter who had been listening to the conversation unsure until she heard her name being called.

"Adrienne?" Kanu asks tentatively, she finally felt confident that it really was the woman, Kanu gathered the ends of her dress and picked up her pace, in her eagerness she nearly stumbled forward but managed to catch herself with the help of the wall. Barely even noticing how close she'd been to an accident, Kanu grins up at Adrienne, "Welcome back! What brings you here?" she questions while clasping her hands in front of herself, "Do you have any more adventures to share? What did you mean when you said that my brother defeated Davy Jones? Did he really?' she asks following Adrienne into the living room so that they could talk.

Just as the girls were taking a seat Katherine returned and began to set out tea cups. "And how in the world did you get here? I didn't see a carriage outside, did you accept a ride from a stranger?' she asks in motherly concern.

Adrienne
Nerissa, Goddess of the Sea

Adrienne relaxed a bit when Katherine did, smiling a little apologetically when she took one more glance outside and mentioned Kaz being busy. Hearing the woman call her "dear" again was both welcome and rather touching, especially now in her somewhat somber state, though she hid it well beneath the rivaling enthusiasm she felt for what was to happen. The bottle in the drawstring bag on her arm felt light as a feather yet a heavy reminder all at once, not to be forgotten. "Thank you," she said sincerely once she was invited in and Katherine walked off to make tea.

She was incredibly happy to see both of them, Kanu and Katherine, and it showed on her face. "Thank you, sweetheart. I'll explain once your mother joins us," she smiled at Kanu's greeting, touching her cheek softly before they started down the hallway and Adrienne put a gentle arm over Kanu's shoulders to both guide her a bit and as a loving gesture. "Many, I'm sure. Or at least a few major ones. And yes, he really did," she grinned as they took a seat on the sofa. Adrienne's eyes caught on Katherine as she entered the room with the tea tray and her eyes caught on one of the teacups, remembering Tirus' physical metaphor for the curse and feeling determination course through her.

Looking up as Katherine spoke, Adrienne pursed her lips. Well, she wouldn't have been able to avoid an explanation for long, she knew, but something in the woman's tone threw her off and made her not want to go into the explanation for how she'd arrived. It was the touch of concern in her voice, the motherly undertone that had the potential to turn to either relief or soft disapproval depending on which direction Adrienne's answer took. It made her soften and, like she had in response to Zekeal's kindnesses and acceptance, she wanted to keep it. It was the closest she'd ever come to feeling a part of a family, a part of anything except Kazuki's crew, even as she knew, with her own words of truth, she could undo it. She swallowed a lump in her throat; it was like saying goodbye to Zekeal all over again.

Taking a deep breath, Adrienne forced her smile a little and shook her head. Her nerves were clear on her face, her fear of rejection. It made her appear slightly timid, which she didn't take well to. Even so, she began, "No, I came here by my own devices. I actually have something I need to say in order to explain why I'm here, as I said before."

Realizing she was rambling a little, Adrienne took a deep breath and squared her shoulders a bit before admitting, "I'm not precisely who or, I suppose, what I appear to be... I have taken the name Adrienne permanently, but, um...I was known by another name once, one I didn't choose, precisely. My name was Nerissa." She gave a slight shrug and said rather casually, "I am the sea goddess."

And she waited for the cold look, the anger, the sadness, or anything of the like, but most of all, she waited for Katherine to reject her. She knew her qualms with the sea, Kaz and Kanu had mentioned last time that she blamed it for taking both her beloved husband and son away. Why would she react any other way? It wasn't as if Adrienne could really blame her either, despite her innocence.
