"Wherever someone thinks of you, that's where home is." - Jiraya

Welcome dear role players, Naruto lovers and whoever else has managed to stumble into this thread. This is an advertisement and recruitment for anyone out there looking for an edo and Naruto based role play. We are only Naruto based and not directly following the Naruto timeline. None of the characters from the series makes an appearance although it is possible to find their clans and trademark moves. Those of you new to Shimagakure should know we are a small (looking to expand), but strong role play with members that frequently post.

For those of you that know the old Shimagakure get ready for a new experience. There has been a big change in structure of the guild making a new setup and new things to come. We are still getting back on our feet into this new set up, but it is sure to bring a new experience. So why don't you give it a try? It can't hurt now? Come on in. Invite your friends. And have them invite theirs. The more members there are the better things shall get.

"You must be strong at heart, not just in words." - 4th Hokage

Our story takes place 600 years before the main storyline begins starting with the first hidden village. At this time many clans are now being formed. This gives you the opportunity to be the first to create a clan or technique and not be restricted by the series. Be the first to create the 8 Gates or remake a clan from the series in a way that you think is better. Create your character and help form the future Naruto universe.

Izou Sosei means ‘Legacy Rebirth’. The guild is going through a small ‘rebirth’ phase trying to incorporate system updates and story elements. Those who have known the guild before may be in for a bit of a surprise with some of the new things being established and future things to be installed.

"Those who break the rules are scum, that's true, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum." - Kakashi

Ok, well not as intense as Kakashi, but that saying does have a point. There are not many and all are pretty easy to follow. If you give a minute or two to read through them you'll see it is true. As for the other part of Kakashi's saying, it's just saying to be active. It's not easy these days to get time, but if you can post at least once a day, the role play can move at a steady pace. More power to you if post more. If there are times that you don't think that you will be around for an extended period then it is courteous to notify everyone so they are not waiting and wondering where you are.

And now for the good part. Joining. All you have to do is this:

1). How did you learn about this guild?
2). Why did you choose this guild?
3). A sample of your role playing skills [Third person only!]
4). Do you have D20 knowledge? [If not, it’s ok! We have in-game tutorials.]
5). How active are you?
Note: If your role play sample is too big, feel free to PM your application to a crew member.

Sample of my role playing abilities from one of my Shima characters!

Sakuran H
Akemi cringed a little bit as she felt the mallet come down on her knuckles. She drew back her arm and then took a few steps back as she listened to the instructor speak his piece. The young Raiken scowled a little bit when he mentioned bringing in the genin to show them how it was done. "I don't need those genin to tell me how to do things..." she mumbled quietly to herself. You want a scoundrel? You've got one! she thought to herself as she bit her lip slightly, her dark grin spreading slowly across her face as an idea formed in her head.

She watched as the red head darted down again to get another one of the apples and tried to bite back a snicker. Did he not just watch that move fail with me??? she thought as she rolled her eyes. This was going to be fun she thought, the wicked grin spreading even more across her face as she took a few more steps back, then bolted towards the red head, the instructor would be too busy with that kid to even notice her... as the boy lowered himself down a bit, Akemi jumped onto his back and at the same time reached down and snagged the apple the boy was about to grab. Once she felt her hand firmly grip it, she leaned back and pushed herself off the boy's back, so she would be going the opposite direction of the teacher, and sending the boy face first into the ground.

As Akemi landed back behind the boy, the girl's grin was unmistakably cocky as she held the apple in her hand. "Enough of a scoundrel for you Sensei?" she said allowed, taking a bite out of the apple, the grin not leaving her face as she did so.

Also happens to be one of my favorite RP samples of all time

Role play bump from one of my characters, Hyuuga Kanami. Her opening post from the beginning of the new rp season.

Katz the Nine Lives
Theme music

The sun is shining, the birds are flying and the day is just beginning. Or almost half way done. Kanami never liked to rise early. Having to usually wake up early in that uptight, balls binding and straight laced Hyuuga mansion was not good at all for the skin. It was a lack of sleep. Who ever made up the saying of ‘early to bed, early to wake, makes a woman smart, beautiful and great’ should be shot five times in the back and left to die in the middle of the desert. Screw that. That’s one of the reasons Kanami liked coming to Shimagakure.

Being an off and on resident to the island Kanami’s seen a bit in her few trips around. She kept in the background for most of it simply because her caretakers, while over here, never wanted the princess to be out of a five foot radius. Lest she goes and fornicates with some unsuspecting boy who would probably be more than willing after the first five minutes and then needing a fluids transplant after ten minutes once this angelic succubus sucked him dry, but that’s another story for another day. The point is the times Kanami was over here were mostly for diplomatic reasons and to aid in the newspaper that she refurbished and redesigned from the last owner. To a much more explosive, greater, stronger newspaper in her mind. The girl came through the island during the festival of the new kage and watched some of the students and genin, who have probably become chuunin now. There was the blonde boy who had to be a model, then there was a uchiha boy with some quick moves, and that tough girl with the lion who was also pretty quick. All of them pretty cute in their own way, but those wonderings would also have to be for another time because today was about the prima donna of the Hyuuga clan. At least in her mind. The spotlight was on, all eyes on her it was time for some action!

The painted fingernails opened the curtains to her room allowing the day’s sweet afternoon breath to enter the room and brush around her form. She allowed that same wind to enter her nostrils and lips making a happy hum to herself. Next step was to get those pearly whites cleaned, make sure there’s no nasty wax in the ears and no ugly little bugs in the nostrils and a quick rinse off. I mean she’s Hyuuga Kanami and all of those things are to perfection anyway, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. What if a cute jounin saw up her nose and was mortified? That would be like total meltdown of social status!

Check, check, check, and double check! First stage of looking good is accomplished! Now for the second part. The girl needed some undergarments for beautiful curvatures. Something to match the day. As the Hyuuga heiress searched inside her drawer she wondered what would be a fitting color for today. Well it was the beginning of spring so it should be some springy colors. In the end how many people would know about her bra or underwear color? How many indeed? You could never be sure. She was the Hyuuga princess, the prima donna, the female Don Juan, the unpredictable seducer who could get boys to tent their pants and girls to get juicy in their southern regions, the eccentric femme fatale with a strawberry on top. This is Hyuuga Kanami

Even though we're a small guild at the moment, there are an assortment of characters with different personalities that you may not expect. There are kind and friendly characters like Kanami or there are more serious and evil ones such as my other character, Orochi Shisei.

The spring day was serene and quiet. Very peaceful with the snow forming into pools of water around grave stones and the walkways to graves. The graveyard was wet as if now drying off from a shower previous. This site was something new to Shimagakure. Previously before this section of the island was dirt with a few makeshift wooden crosses, by brats who felt the need to place some symbolism of departed family. As if to prove the person did exist at a time. Some things have changed physically with the island, but as if the sundial of this island stopped moving its shadow despite the time of day, Shimagakure did not change. And this large sundial that did not change in time had also plunged the serpent youth within its shadow making sure he could no longer progress.

The surviving serpent of the Orochi had done like he did for the last couple of days in being in Shimagakure. He’d get up early, before anyone else and make his way to the graveyard to think. No one else attended to this place. Since the war with Meho had finished and all sorrow has slightly lifted from people’s hearts he figured that this place or the forest of sorrows would be the best for solitude. The graveyard better because not many would stay for long periods of time in one. Yet he could. His small frame, barely bigger from the last time he lived in Shimagakure, had placed his chess board on a standing pile of rocks with the top level being flat. This allowed for the game to be played without any pieces shifting. As for the youth’s skeleton, it sat upon the stone head of Seshiro. One leg bent at the knee to keep grip on the stone was placed on the nose of the stone figure, while the other swung lazily back and forth. The sepia jacket was closed entirely up so the ankh at the top glittered in the sun. His mouth could not be seen and because the boy’s eyelids were so close to being shut his eyes just appeared to be two black voids in his ivory head. Maybe the child’s eyes were closed and he just did movements that turned out to be correct. Whichever be the truth the youth continued his solitary game of chess, making movements on both sides. To side chess board was an hourglass that had sand enough for a minute. The snake child timed himself for every move he made. Time was everything in this world and he squandered enough of his on the garbage that held him back on the island.

“Pawn angled in front of the queen takes two paces forward.”. Anyone passing by would probably wonder and jeer at the audacity and disrespect the snake student would have towards his own clan. Yet the dread hair did not care. If he did not respect them to begin with when they were alive, what was the point in respecting them in death? After all who cares about traitors to their own clans. The boy did not know much about the elder snake and his big brother. He never knew much about Oshu, the cunning one who had left the note in his head to find Shimagakure if anything had happened. What the last Orochi did know was that the three of them went out to commit genocide upon their own clan, which came to fruition. After that it seemed they betrayed this shinobi island for their own ambitions whatever that maybe. Although because of the gravestones one could assume that they were finally eliminated by the ninja of this village. Yet ironically the shinobi here made them heroes. “Knight moves forward to defend.”

The chess playing boy did not have much of an opinion for their actions. All he knew was that they aided in the obliteration of the Orochi clan. That was the three dead serpents' places in history: Traitors to a clan who failed to succeed in their ambitions. As for the Orochi clan their place in time was to be a part of grim fairytales and myths that mothers told their children at night to scare them into good behavior. But not the last of them. “Rook takes Queen. Pawn takes Rook.”The heartless boy had already perceived he would not end up the same way. If the teachers and people on this island failed him again, he’d find a way. If the teachers in Hyuuga or any other clan dispelled him, he’d find a way. Whatever person stood in his way, be it friend or foe, he’d kill them.

The young Orochi twirled the white king piece in his hand thinking of his next move to play. In the deathly quiet necropolis one could hear each grain of sand that slowly trickled from the hourglass. Only fifteen seconds left, yet the boy already knew what move he wanted to do for this turn twenty seconds ago. His mind was just contemplating the situation he’d face being back on island. Yet if the world would go against him the boy would find a way. “King moves forward.”. After all this boy was the last of the Orochi, the prodigy whose talents made him good in all areas, the genius whose always kept his sites on the things most important, the austere student whose mind does not waver at the birth of a child or death of a person, the boy who against the world, will take it and hold it hostage if need be. That is Orochi Shisei.

One can get much insight from a game of chess. Just what is the serpent thinking of now?

There's personality with each character and different type of drama with each post! Take a look at this one.

Akiko was stunned. She could hardly believe what her aunt was asking her. Leave Shimagakure? She can't even remember what the mainland was like--it was so long ago! This... for better or for worse... was her home. She knew nothing else, and now... now, she was being asked to leave all that behind. Akiko didn't understand. Why isn't it safe anymore? Why doesn't Yuki want her to stay? Did she want her to stay? There were just too many questions. She couldn't even begin to comprehend the complexity of it.

Aunt Yuki was hiding something, and Akiko knew it was futile to try to pry it out of her. Her aunt was wiser than that--she'd see right through any attempt to ask, and Akiko would still be left with no answers. She was sure her mother wouldn't say anything, either. As for her brother? He wouldn't know... but why would he leave? Akiko had thought that her brother would want to try to prove himself. Yet, she knew he didn't have much confidence... Akiko sighed. This was too much for her. She wanted to just go to bed and sleep on it, but she knew her restless mind too well.

She hadn't even approached the issue of what she would do. It seems that going across the sea would be the safest move, and she'd be able to stay with her family. But... would she be able to continue her training? She doubted it, but she wasn't certain. There was always the chance that, even if nothing awaited her on the mainland, she would be able to train herself or--better yet--find herself a mentor. Was there, though, something that she could only get in Shimagakure? Why would she want to stay?

The answer hit her. The man from her dreams--she still was looking for him. Some part of her heart still held hope that she might find him again. He disappeared here on this island without a trace... but surely, there must be something he left behind. Nobody simply disappears--it isn't ever that simple. In her heart, Akiko wanted to stay, if only to keep looking for him. She'd find him, no matter how long it took.

Then, the consequences of her choice flooded into her. She'd be leaving her family; she's never done that before. She'd be putting herself in the line of some unknown danger, and she might not come out of it alive. She might not even find what she was looking for. As she thought about this, her eyes began to water over. A current of tears flowed slowly down her cheeks as she ran to her mother. Midori lifted her up into her lap and held her against her shoulder. She didn't need to be told what Akiko had chosen--a mother always knew. It was painful for her, yes, but she knew it would hurt her daughter more. Yet, she couldn't be prouder of her daughter's decision. As Akiko let out her emotions, she succumbed to weariness. Without a word, Midori lifted up her daughter and carried her to her room. She tucked her daughter into bed and turned to the door... but, before she went, she removed a locket from around her neck and linked it around her daughter's. As she closed the door, a small crack of light briefly illuminated the open locket, showing a picture of their happy family--father and all.

But it is not only about long posts. Short ones can have just as great of an impact.

Master Jong Jong
In preparation for his counter attack, Kiba brought his sword parallel to his eye sockets. Narrowing his dark eyes at the tatooed opponent he launched himself forward and made a dynamic stab aimed at a tatoo of a skull on the samurai thug's right pectorial. From here he would bring the sword up in a swinging motion right across the scoundrel's throat and ideally send him flailing backwards. If only he had a real sword that he could wield affectively already! Oh well, he would hardly need one for such people as these. Clearly these two fellows were not of the same breed as the ones that Kiba and his ninja squad had been sent to deal with. Then again, you never know... Underestimating opponents is a cardinal sin of battle afterall.
