you guys honestly need to stop saying your veiw is the only possible point of veiw (this is for people on both sides of this conversation) and accept the others as possible, so if what you say is true... so what then? give the other people the benifit of the doubt so the conversation can evolve past "God doesnt exist deal with it!"

i went to a christian school when i was young so i still have some knowledge of the bible..though i have to admit i'm not really a believer. it's more like confusion..

I can't believe I didn't say this sooner.....

I am a Christian.

Some people are able to do things like preach, real good. Some aren't so good..we all have our own way of spreading the gospel, some by words, some by encouragement, some by how kind we are, it's all different.

Like for me, I can't walk up to some one and get in an in depth talk about Christ because, I just can't do that...It's not what God has blessed me with.

I just believed that I was all displaced.

Here's my story.

My father was a devout atheist. He'd preach about how stupid believers were. I never gave it much thought.

Then a girl in my neighbourhood told me I would go to Hell because I didn't love Jesus. My reply: "Who's Jesus?"

The girl in question was not the shiniest penny in the fountain and since she was my first example of a christian, I just went with what my dad had told me and what I'd observed.

Until university. One of my roommates was, frankly, a genius and a Christian. So I had to re-evaluate. I gave it an honest go. I went to church for a year with her. I prayed, I read the Bible and I discussed it avidly with her and others.

The result? I still couldn't believe in God. It's impossible for me.

So here's what I figure:

IF God made me, and I am unable to believe in God, then God made me that way, right?

So if He then punishes me for not believing... he's a total douche.

But! If he really is all-knowing, all-wise, and really loves me, and I live my life well and don't wrong anyone and do my best to be a decent human being, then He will accept me into Heaven when I die. That's what I figure.

You have to actually accept him for that to work.

But anyway, God gae you free will, meaning he doesn't control EVERY aspect of your life.

You have to put something into it as well. Just going, and just listening won't do much.

You have to try to turn completely to God.

I did. I truly poored myself into it. I took it very seriously. I am incapable of believing in God.

Me and some friends were invited to some lock in at a church by a friend of ours, so we went.
It was suppose to be a fun thing.
My friend and I, who aren't believers, were grouped in with some other kids and brought to a room where two young adults talked to us.
They told us if we didn't believe in God, we were going to hell.
Over and over and over again.
My friend and I are pretty decent people.
I didn't realize that's what christians thought until then.
That made me dislike people who had a 'relationship' with God a little bit more.

This is not the best place to try to convince anyone.

Most people who don't believe in the Christian God have never actually read the bible and figured out for themselves what they really believe.

I don't respect an opinion unless you know actually know what you're talking about and can discuss without bashing.
