And it always astounds me how people like you can be so arrogant-- thinking your beliefs are superior than and more verificable than those of others. You are a christian. A follower of a specific school of thought and practice. A specific cult member who can accept nothing but a specific claim. But what about the other cults? The other religions and ideas that exist in the world beside your own? Who are you to say that your ideas, random and superfluous as they may be, are any better than a Bhuddist's, or a Hindu's, or a Jew's, or a native american's, or even a Nazi's, or a Muslim's, or a Pagan's, or a Satanist's, or a Mayan's, or an Ethiopian's---or an Atheist's? You disgust me.

Who cares about the afterlife? Whether it exists or not (and I doubt it does), it's still in a whole 'nother dimension, and it's not going to change how I live my life. As long as I'm happy with myself, who cares what a god would think? He/She/It must really scare you.

Don't try to twist this around and make us sound bad. These religions give people faith, something to have faith in. Shredding these beliefs like you are only makes you just as worse as you say we are. Don't group all christians into one thing. I can coexist with these other religions, so what if you think we're a "cult" member. We have someone to pray to in our times of grief. I find it sad how someone believing in something that you don't agree with disgusts you, that just makes you shallow.

Sweetie, you yourself are trying to shread his beliefs. Both of you (and yes I have seen your past posts, Aurora) have stabbed at each others beliefs, and thus you are both in the wrong. No matter what people say, being athiest is a belief. You have faith that there is no higher power.

Now, the reason I don't believe in God is that the only so-called 'evidence' there is to prove any deity's existence always turns out to be a string of nice coincidences that some people refuse to believe are just that-- coincidences.

I believe in God, just not the Christian God.

I grew up Baptist so every word of the bible is taken literally in the Baptist demonstration but the fact of the matter is that the bible contradicts itself way too much. God says that people must not kill, but in 'his word' he talks about punishments for stoning children who talk back to their father.

People take the bible far too literally and don't consider that it was written by fallible men in a completely different culture than we have now.
