Being religious was like walking on broken glass 24/7. No matter what I did, it was considered sinning. Wanting a certain toy for Christmas was Greed. Being mad when someone teased me was Wrath. Sleeping in was Sloth. Eating a second piece of birthday cake was Gluttony. And so on and so forth. People would have to repent every second of every minute of every hour of every day in order to get into heaven by their religious standards. Living for now is really the only wise thing to do and if it means going to hell, most people would rather go there than have to spend eternity with some jackass who would damn people for masturbating without saying sorry.

Wow.
I never thought that hard about it.
And I don't know anyone extreme enough to punish each other for those "sins".
>.>
But, yeah, the "correct" path is way too narrow for everyone to walk.
I have a religious nut friend.
I love her, but I can't stand her religious nuttery.
She posted this whole rant on myspace about how loving the world is to love sin.

Shadow Coon, as to the '7 Deadly Sins,' I'm sorry you met up with extremism there, the interpretation of a lot of those mentioned actions is way off, and nonetheless the '7' were suggestions of things by Saint something or another of the sins which were hardest to recover from (when interpreted legitimately, such as kleptomania in the case of Greed, etc, they're counted as 'Deadly' only when they take precedence over God in your eyes, hence buying a toy is not Greed in the least), hence the 'Deadly' terminology. The sins themselves are not unrecoverable, nor is their definition THAT wide as you describe (thankfully). By all means live for the present AND the future, it is quite possible to be human without being condemned for all time (everything in moderation and life is great, religious or not).
