Marriage is an outdated way to insure inheritance of property and for men to have some hope of thinking that they fathered the children their wives pop out.

It's lovely for people who want to announce their love and committment, but that has nothing to do with the history of marriage despite what the Bible has told you.

I am not sure if someone made this thread before, I really really hope not because I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about what I wrote. What is your view on marriage?

Because I am Christian I belief marriage is an example of Christ and his love the church. Everytime you get married that is what you are showing. Everytime you get a divorce it compares with when a Christian seperates from God to worship an idol or other God. In Christianity a woman submits to her husband as Lord "It's not like what it sounds like, I promise you" which is what the Christian body does to towards God, we call God Lord. Lord means to serve under someone's will and/or obedience. That is the one reasons Christians live by the Bible because it's helps lead us to God's will for our lifes. With marriage I belief the one-ess of Christ and the church and becoming one body is where sex comes in. In Christianity sex before marriage or to have several partners is a bit of a mockery of the example of Christ and a church.

Its out dated and hold people down, some would call it security, I call it prison, people try for years trying to turn a marage around, I know I watched my parents, if people are just "together" then for some reason things arnt as difficult....if you really love somebody a ring dosnt make a difference....people always get married for the wrong reasons as well...I just think in the day when your not going to be scorned upon and religion dosnt have such a huge hold that marrige is a ceremony that does more bad then good and is out dated

How can you compare marriage to prison? People choose to get married, and if it doesn't work out, they can get a divorce. Marriage isn't only about showing commitment. Marriage also brings many legal benefits that can not be obtained any other way.

I do agree that people get married for the wrong reasons. I know many gold diggers that married old men for their money.
