No..you qoute them for us. Exactly as they are shown. Also, cite what Translation you are useing.

fine then i will lazy 1 john 5:14 and 15: and this is the confidence that we have toward him that no matter what it is we ask according to his will he hears us. 15: further if we know he hears us respecting we are asking we know we are to have the things asked since we have asked them of him.

john 14:6and 14:jesus said to him i am the way and the truth adn the lifew no one comes to the father except through M. verse14 if you ask anything in my name he will do it

So, you can ask Jesus to ask God for a favor.

A question!

Let's all pretend that Catholics worship Mary. (For the record, I know that they do not. This is hypothetical.) They do, however, worship YHVH and Yeshua as well, and revere them higher than Mary.

Would that make them non-Christian?

After all, they do still worship Yeshua.

?? I'm born and raised Cathloic and we ONLY worship God. ONLY! END OF DISCUSSION! CLOSE SHOP! GOODBYE AND DRIVE SAFELY!
Oh my, fail. Epic fail.

As for your question, Pirate, it would make them idolatrous Christians, unless they decided to make a doctrine saying that Mary was some incarnation of God. Now, Protestants would say "They can't be Christians if they worshipping false Gods!!!!1111" which is about as useful as saying "They can't be Christians if they lie!!!1111"

I'd classify them as Christians.

Of course Catholics are Christians we beliefve that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, we believe in the Holy Trinity and we know the saints and the Virgin Mary get their power from God so ulitmately the difference is we believe that God grants other people mediating positions for specific areas ...I don;t know why but I personally like it that way. This only being because asking a person for something is alot easier than asking the same thing of God...I mean that in the sense that it is a little less intimidating. Oh and besies the Saints also play the role of role models and something to strive towards. ninja ninja ninja

God wants you to acknowledge Him as your Father and Christ as your Redeemer. Therefore, you should be able to ask God as you would your own father.

we do acknowledge Him as our Father but think of it this way. When you really like someone but are afraid to ask them yourself, what do you do? You get a friend to ask for you. Praying to the saints works almost the same way. You ask the saints to ask Him if He can do a certain thing for you.

Also, the Hail Mary is a prayer to Mary. She's also a saint and she can ask God to help us with someting.

It is true. Yes we ask for the saints to put in a good word for us but we never say we don't pray to God as well. We say the Our Father every mass and even when we say the Rosary.

Um...I think Rookherst is dodging the question GemEncrustedEarth asked.
She wanted to know what version of the bible you're using. Cathloics have different books in our bible than other sects. For example, we have the book of Tobit and Deuteronomy and the New King James's version doesn't.
This is because when the protesant reformation occoured the heads of the "new church" thought these books unworthy or hypocosy.
However we still keep them in our bible and rconized them as God inspired works.
So please identify which version of the bible you're using so we can be on the same page.
so ur saying if ur not catholic isz a good thing?

Because the KJV is crap......

Don't forget the controversy betwen Thomas More and King James...from whence the book gets its name.

It was never a metaphor; I spoke of everyday life.
Unless God actually had sex with my mother and fathered me, then it's a metaphor. Sorry.

I never claimed Saints to be idols. You're missing the whole point. You don't need someone to ask for you because you're in the same room; God is always there and He favors no human being, with the exception of Christ, over one another.
You were talking about how any sort of prayer or trust in anything other than God is idolatrous. I was telling you how you're wrong. It doesn't matter that you don't need saints. No one ever said that saints were needed. They're just there. If you've ever asked someone to pray for you, you're doing essentially the same thing that Catholics do when they pray to saints.

I apologize; I was under the impression you're a Christian.

And no! You're missing my point again. I was saying how trusting in anything ABOVE God is idolatrous. And I tell you, the saints are dead and gone to heaven. They can do no more for you than anyone else.

Amazing, but we really should forgive the poor fellow... it being the season and all (yeah it might not be the actual date but hey it's the thought that counts) and by forgive I mean try to show him the true meaning of things and such and not rip him apart like vicious dogs... although it would be fun
It takes someone very ignorant of their own religion's history to not know that Catholics are Christians. Just because other sects of Christianity have since split off from Catholicism, that doesn't make the original form of Christianity no longer a part of the religion as a whole.

It's like saying that squares are no longer rectangles.

Just because Catholics also pray to (not worship) Mary and the Saints doesn't mean that they no longer follow the teachings of Jesus the Christ.

I have a question for you guys: Do you consider Catholics to be Christian?

I know a lot of you said "yes," but actually, you're wrong. Catholics aren't Christian. They claim to be, but they worship the virgin Mary, and not Jesus or God<-WTF?. Also, they dance pagan dances around that huge hat the pope has, when the Bible says that nobody should keep idols.

If you have any more questions, please direct them to me and I will be happy to direct you to the way of reason and light. True Christianity comes from your heart and Jesus, not Pope mobiles and bread cookies. wafers...the body of Christ

Please save your souls before it's too late.

You are a discrace to ED. I'm Catholic, and I'm offended by this. WE WORSHIP GOD AND JESUS, GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT

Catholicism is not the original religion based on the teachings and life of Jesus Christ.
