Catholics can be Christians. It really comes down to the same decision in the end.

What decision would that be?

The decision is this: Do you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?

I do. And I'm Catholic.
Ah, k. Wasn't sure what she was referring to sweatdrop I believed when I was little, but I don't anymore.
A question; has this thread been declared a poor attempt at satire or is it the real opinions of a certified idiot?
Discrimination against Catholics is a REALLY Christan thing to do. I'm proud of you.

Catholics don't worship Mary, they "honnor" her. They don't worship saints or Jesus, Mary, whoever else you think of; they hope to have their good dead souls interveign for them to God. The pope is simply a physical leader because humans are too stupid to understand the true powers of God and some need someting they can see to help them along.

Not only Christianity, but all religions are really a matter of personal interperetation and understanding.

But who cares? Religion is no more than organized superstition used to brainwash large groups of people so that they'll do the will of one or a few people.

And by definition, Catholics are Christian.

They claim to be, but they worship the virgin Mary, and not Jesus or God.

Catholics don't worship Mary... In no form of Catholocism is Mary considered divine...
so i looked this up because i can't type it out for the life of me. this is the Nicene Creed that we say during Mass.

Quote:
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, and born of the Father. God of God, light of light, true God of true God. Begotten not made, consubstantial to the Father, by whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven. And was incarnate of the Holy Ghost and of the Virgin Mary and was made man; was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, suffered, died, and was buried; and the third day rose again according to the Scriptures. And ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, and shall come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, of whose Kingdom there shall be no end. And we believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who together with the Father and the Son is to be adored and glorified, who spoke by the Prophets. And one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We confess one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen."

Okay so I fixed it more to what my two parishes say. (I go to a different parish when I'm at college but they say the same creed) Time to break this creed down.

Quote:

There's only one God who created everything. We also believe in Jesus.

Mary was still a virgin because God can make all things. Jesus is the hope of our rebirth.

Quote:

And ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, and shall come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, of whose Kingdom there shall be no end.
Jesus died for our sins and rose on the third day. He ultimately went to heaven to open up the gates for all people.

Quote:

We do believe in the trinity. When we are filled by the Holy Spirit, we know that God is with us. (may not be true for all Catholics)

Quote:

For Catholics there is only one universal church. We don't have to receive permission to change churchs. We also strive to follow the Church's teachings. We also look forwards towards rebirth in the Kingdom of Heaven.

I hope that helps because the Nicene Creed contains all the Catholic beliefs.
I'm afriad the original poster had their facts a bit messed up.

Catholics DO worship God, the Trinity. The problem with praying to Mary and other saint is that prayer is a from of worship; by offering prayer to the saints, you are giving worship to other beside God.

As far as "Pagan dancing" goes, well, I just plain have no idea what she's talking about.

The conflict between the churches goes way back to the 16th century. We still have disagreements with the way Catholics run things, but that's another debate for another day. And , in my opinion, in what I would imagine would be the opinion of any other educted Christian, Catholics are Christains, albeit a little misguided.

Okay, it's clear that everyone who's voting that Catholics are Christian didn't read what I wrote. God didn't put any Catholics in the Bible! rolleyes I think everyone who's a lost sheep needs to visit this site:

It's not too late to save yourselves from the hold that Whore of Babylon (Catholic church) has on you! Repent and turn from the demoness who wants you to suck at her tit.

Christianity is a monotheistic religion centered on Jesus of Nazareth and his life, death, resurrection, and teachings.

Wrong, they pray to all three of them.

Actually, by that logic, Christians in general aren't monotheistic. There's only one God.

pray=/= Worship.

Actually, pray = acknowledgement of divinity. And Catholics don't pray TO saints or Mary, they pray WITH them.

Again, explain how praying to Jesus and God as separate entities = monotheism. I don't get the trinity, it hasn't been correctly explained to me, and it's the reason I'm not a Christian.

Ha ha ha, nice try with the cute little graphic there. You're all still praying to a dead guy. You aren't praying to a different aspect of the divine, you're praying to a HUMAN BEING that was supposedly divine, AS WELL AS an incorporeal divine. TWO. SEPERATE. THINGS. Not monotheistic. As hard as you want to try to make it that way, it isn't.
Of course Catholics are Christians we beliefve that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, we believe in the Holy Trinity and we know the saints and the Virgin Mary get their power from God so ulitmately the difference is we believe that God grants other people mediating positions for specific areas ...I don;t know why but I personally like it that way. This only being because asking a person for something is alot easier than asking the same thing of God...I mean that in the sense that it is a little less intimidating. Oh and besies the Saints also play the role of role models and something to strive towards. ninja ninja ninja

I'm gonna mostly agree with anthyo here mainly because I read only three articles in that site.

There was quite a bit of information wrong on that site including the facts about Purgetory. I'm not omnipotent but I come from a strong Catholic background so I know quite a bit.

Catholics do separate sins into mortal and venial sins. The mortal sins are actually the seven deadly sins but most Protestants don't know this or have the wrong facts. The venial sins are easily forgiven but sometimes, they are the sins that makes a person go to Purgetory when they die.

So what you're doing here is, apart from being an idiot, arguing from ignorance.

The holy trinity is monotheism.
