as I have said before Halo is a pretty mediocore game in almost all respects

if you ask PC gamers who have played games like Blood 2 and Halflife if Halo or Halo 2 has the best story or single player campaign..... they will tell you No

If you ask PC gamers who have played games like Unreal Tournament 2k4, Quake 3, and Counterstrike weather or not Halo or Halo 2 have the best multiplayer..... they will likewise tell you No

HAlo is a mediocore series, especially when compared to the top teir FPS games that PC gamers enjoy.

HAlo is a mediocore series, especially when compared to the top teir FPS games that PC gamers enjoy.

the thing is to compare them to the PC series, its not exactly correct.
thats like asking the PC gamers who have played Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, WoW, and Fallout if Final Fantasy VII is any good. they will say no.

that doesnt mean its not a good game, its just a different context for the information. trying to say that since some other games that are on the PC are just as good/better means that halo is useless, that has no value at all.

Why not ask the Guys who play UT2k4 and Halflife 2 which game has the best Multiplayer? some will say UT, some will say Halflife, its the same way with halo, console gamers got a FPS game that doesnt play like crap and actually is enjoyable, and they play it often.

I personally enjoy halo for its multiplayer, it add somethign that HL2 and UT2k4 dont and dont do well... Combination attacks.

what i mean is, each weapon in Halo 2 feels and works differently, many weapons in HL2 are used the same way, many weapons in UT are used the same way (but still have alot of variety, Loves Pulse Rifle & Biogun) but what halo adds is the option to actually Duel Wield in a fasion that adds to the gameplay without taking anything out. it also has a weapon management systemt that makes the game more tactic baised than UT/HL2

but again, thats just MY oppinion. and i love all 3 games. and just because i love halo doesnt mean that the PC games are any worse.
hey i like halo.
my point Thorlord was not so much about console and PC games

it was about the FPS genre as a whole.... and the fact that there are better FPS titles on the market than Halo..... much better FPS titles

Hell Halflife and Halflife 2 are both available on consoles and provide better single player campaigns than Halo

my point is that as FPS title Halo is honestly a mediocore title..... a fact that might become more evident soon since Unreal Tournament is finally getting released on a console (It has long been confirmed for the PS3)

again my point is that Halo is not as great as people say it is..... it is a decent game that got a lot of credit because it was the first Xbox title to make good use of live for FPS multiplayer and it arrived at at time when the Xbox did not have a lot of top teir games.

but circumstance does not make a great game.... it might make it seem great, but if you take a step back and look at the FPS genre as a whole you begin to see that Halo is not even in the top teir of the genre.
I just ahte the gigantic controllers, it's impossible for me to play...I'd proabbly like the series a lot more on the computer or something
halo sucks because of the one person mode in the game i like games that
you can see your self!!!
Sorry I had to go... I agree that Dragoon is a great game, and I believe that ff7 was good as well. It is not thye best of the best, bUt still a worth while game to play. Getting the master amterias and Gold chocobos add to the great gameplay. I actauuly liked the plot once you play it if you are old enough to read the text and not skip through... It is a fairly entertaining story. Some of the things Barret or Cid or Yuffie would say, would make me laugh. The best way to play that game is to make sure you play the game thouroughly and do all the side quests at the end. I really liked it... but we are getting off topic.

The point is Halo is mediocre at best, I have seen and played better. 3nodding I would suggest Super Smash Brothers, because it's lake of plot is still better than the crappy plot in halo, and they both have nultiplaye, but in Smash brothers, you can be some one other than another master cheif every time.. which would get kinda boring, unless you count Halo two which let's you be he arbiter or master chief in multiplayer mode.

Halflife is only a single player game. That's what they focus on. Valve doesn't have to balance out developing a decent multiplayer on top of a storyline.

Those three games have totally different playing styles than Halo. Especially Quake and UT, which is set at a much faster pace and has more of a run-and-gun feel to it. Counterstrike is a little more similar, but still has many differences that set it apart from Halo.

Here's the thing. Aside from Halo PC, which is still going strong, PC gamers will stick to PC games. You can't honestly expect an unbiased or educated opinion from them on console games.

Half-Life only single player? hmm... I wonder what I was actually doing those few years when I thought I was in a pretty succesful Half-Life multi player clan.
as much as I can bash Halo I still enjoy it
I think it's a great game. The reson for this is simple.

The controlles are simple and easy to learn! You don't have to go throw explaining how to do all kindas things and ect. Like in perfect dark zero for example it took me FOR EVER to learn how to ues my 3rd function on my guns.

Halo almost any one can pick up the controller and start playing. Also the functions aplied to each butten makes the controlles feel naturaly alined.

It's it's simplcity yet being able to be chanlening at the same time that's made it so great. The game still appeles to hard core and casuly game alike.

If I was to take some one who only plays games once in awhile and told them to play CSS and Halo 2, witch game do you think they will be able to get the hang of and start haveing fun with 1st?

Don't get me wroung I also love CS, but Halo aplies to more people.

My sister who uesly only playes RPG's has tried both CS and Halo. Witch do you think she plays more?

I would not necesarily say it sucks.... but I will definatley say it is mediocore

it really brought nothing new to the table to be honest, and what it did do it primarily borrowed from earlier FPS titles that did it a little better in many cases.

The gameplay is not even the best I have seen for a FPS in terms of single player or multiplayer.... Give me Blood 2 for single player any day, and Unreal Tournament for Multiplayer.

I personally think it is a completley average FPS that got more hype because it was one of the first solid exclusives on the Xbox, and because it was one of the first games that took advantage of live

but to be honest there are better uses of online play on PC in earlier games and better Single player campaigns that likewise have been on PC for ages.

Halo 1 wasn't online and Halo 2 came LONG after XBL was lanuched. Get your facts straight silly goose.

Give me one good reason why Halo 2 sucks.

I'll be as honest as possible. I want to avoid any flaming from the hardcore fans by saying right now that I'm very particular about online ettiquete/ manners. I'm 20 years old, and have very little patience with certain aspects of gaming. Now, in order of how bad it is...

1. The online community needs to take their foot out of their mouth.
The online portion of the game is filled with wineing cussing children of all ages. Nowhere else can you be cussed out by a 12 year old for getting the most kills, taking a vehicle from the base for assisting the front lines, or trying to organize a team effort. (Yep, those are actualy personaly experianced examples.) Actually, I've never been cussed at by preteens anywhere else. Something about this game brings out the worst in today's youth. I'm worried, and severely annoyed by it.

2. Not that innovative.
Sure the game is fun, but it doesn't have anything groundbreaking. The vehicle controls from the previous game were genious, but other than that the Halo games brought us little more as far as new features to FPS games. The only thing that is 100% unique is the way the online system is organized. It revolutionized the way online titles are made, as far as automatic matchmaking goes.

3. Storyline plotholes and a crappy ending.
There's nothing more that I love about the game than its story. I love the depth and interesting backgrounds the Halo universe has. However, unless you've read the books based on it, you'll be left with dozens of plotholes that would require further research in order to fill. I could write for an hour listing the details on that, but it's easy to see what I mean. If you have a question about why or how something happened that you found out about in the game, that creates a plothole. Unless the game addresses that bit of unsolved information, it can be annoying. The 1st and 3rd books are awesome by the way. They answer a lot of questions about the Spartans, the Covenant, and ONI.

The ending was a huge mistake. A cliffhanger that lasts several years is a major blow to the fans. It hurts thinking about that. You play through the entire game to reach some sort of conclusion, and hit a cliffhanger. At least Halo 1 ended with the Halo blowing up. You felt as though you accomplished something, and you didn't even consider the trip back to Earth like it was a cliffhanger with an unfinished adventure.

Well, that's the 3 most major reasons why Halo 2 sorta sucks. Its not a bad game at all, but these things bring it down a few points in my opinion.

I just thought it was time to repost my thoughts. It was overlooked before due to the onslaught of the common spam. Anyways, my reasons for thinking Halo isn't anything special is clearly stated. Still a fun game, but just lacking in many areas.
Halo is un original. it's just another FPS with monsters and host of guns and some Guy named Master Chief. If game creators put Master chief in a new james bond gmae would people like it?
