Low expectations. The Elder Scrolls engines and the themes are built for one player. It's going to be weird having multiple "One and Only Hero"es.

As I understand it, it isn't based on the same engine. As for themes, wasn't the ES universe originally some guys setting for D&D Campaigns.... Thus multiplayer? I kid, it is traditionally single player, and I worry for multiplayer.

Wasn't it turn based? That usually means that it's viewed from bird perspective. I wouldn't mind playing TES online if it would be similar to the others (Meaning real time and fist person view), but maybe I'll just pass this one.

I think it is like some other MMOs (like Wow) in that your attacks all have a cooldown. So not exactly turn based but certainly not action oriented like the other TES games either.

No cooldowns. At least, not in the sense you're thinking. More in the sense of "finish swinging your sword before you bother trying to cast a fire spell with the same hand".

Not turn-based, not auto-attack-based, not rotation-based, not tank-and-spank. The same hack-and-slash combat we've come to know and love. This is what they've said about it, in the least.

Also, different engine for this game.
Where's my fallout mmo Bethesda?

It could be really great...if they do it right. But it could also ruin the experience of TES...It does look cool though so I dunno.

People label everything as a WoW clone nowadays. It's rather sad. At least say EverQuest clone, or Dark Age of Camelot clone. Games that WoW copied.

But in all seriousness, the game sounds very interesting and I will definitely be playing this game. And for people who cry WoW clone, if you actually listened to what the creators say, you'd understand it sounds more similar to Guild Wars 2, just saying in case you feel that need to compare it to an mmo. =P
I've got mixed feelings about it
myself. I'm a huge TES fan but I'm not too keen on MMOs lately. That is unless it's more like SW:TOR. For some reason I managed to get sucked into that one...

Morrowind - Some f** released from prison because an oracle of sorts said he was 'the one'.
Oblivion - Prisoner f** who got in the mix of some assassination and redeemed himself.
Skyrim - DRAGON BORN (f**)

ES Online - A million 'the ones' who all get in the mix of the same assassination and are all DRAGON BORN.

My expectations are somewhere around the basement drain in the Stygian Abyss right about now, with no hint at stopping.

I actually managed to get interested again. The info that I found said that you can travel through Tamriel, I've always been interested in seeing all the places in some new game and this has it. Pretty cool. Also one screen shot that I saw looked pretty similar to your everyday MMORPG, so it's not that bad.
If I want to travel Tamriel, I want to do it in TES 6: Tamriel. Not through a grindfest MMO.

I'm sort of interested in it but I'm more of a mainstream gamer than a real Elder Scrolls fan. Still, if it looks good when we start seeing some actual footage then we'll see whether my interest is piqued

So..... The entire premise behind your idea of "Themes" basically starts at Morrowind then?

Charming. I suppose Todd Howard invented The Elder Scrolls then?

You know Arena and Daggerfall (2/5 ES Games) you weren't really "The one" as you were some shmuck who happened to assemble/unravel the McGuffin. Destiny wasn't really a factor. The One and only Hero has only really been Morrowind->Beyond.

This isn't necessarily going to be Heavy Metal (I must destroy you, for you are the one and only being who can stop me.) it might be "Hey you random soldiers, go save the day" Oh to be sure, anyone could kill this big bad if they are strong enough, but you've gone through all the quests leading up to it, so go ahead and kill him now.

.

I'm kind of just tired of MMOs doing the auto stat things for classes though now unlike how in a few older ones you picked your stats for them. I mean auto stating everything even down to equipment, and I'm tired for other people judging someone by their play style rather than their own and think its wrong.
"If I want to play a Red mage/thief in Final Fantasy XI I'll freaking do it I don't need your opinion on why you think White mage, Summoner, and ninja are a better sub for it." xd

Zenimax says that everyone will be able to use the same weapon... However if what they are saying is true I don't think the game is like guild wars. Its going to be more like they are going to have a passive skill tree for each class and classes will be able to go out of their normal zone. Which is more along the lines of what I want in a MMO, still I'm skeptical about it. like I said "I don't like to use the term wow clone." I can see in a lot of ways how developers make them different but i wish that they just wouldn't try to stay all so close to the same thing.

Well, when I said Guild Wars, I meant it more in the combat sense. xD People are saying you're just going to stand there pressing hotkeys as you would in WoW, but from the sound of it, Guild Wars 2 sounds more like what they are aiming for. Plus they are apparently implementing "combo skills" such as their mobs using oil and fire as a sort of "combo" to fight against you. They will probably allow players to do the same to mobs/other players. I only relate it to Guild Wars 2 because that was the first game where I had ever heard of that type of combat.

But as for the class system, it personally reminds me of Demon Souls/Dark Souls in the sense that, you start off with a class but ultimately you end up doing your own thing. If that makes any sense. At least, that's what they are making it sound like they will be doing. In the end though, we will just have to wait for them to release more info on the game and see for ourselves. =P

Yeah exactly that's kind of what I think of their class system being like to, more like Dark Souls, I really didn't make the connection until you brought that game up. Its been such a long time since I played that. But I'm kind of betting it will be more along the lines of "passive skill tree" as I think I heard that you'll be learning the abilities in more of a third person sense... which they all did in Demon Souls to with the skill tutors. But I'm thinking it will be more like Path of Exile, just instead of Diablo style combat it will be some other type.

It has me interested but not to the point at which I would buy the game, alot of MMOs just don't interest me much anymore because I see so many of the things I don't want in a game put into it over, and over, and over.

Idk, we'll just have to wait and see for their betas to open up or something xD But the class system does have me very interested due to the amount of freedom they claim they will be giving. Not many mmos nowadays do that.

As for buying, I will most likely buy it; however, as more information is given out, if it starts to lose its appeal because they gave misleading information or something like that, then I will probably just find a different game. The fact that it's a multiplayer Elder Scrolls game is the main reason I was excited in the first place.
