Welcome to Gaia! ::

I'm more than a couple days late in discovering this new teaser video. So sue me.
(EDIT : Linked to video instead due to inability to display YouTube video in post)

So anyway, who's looking forward to it? I am, but we have to wait until next year. But there is a hidden message that reads "REBORN AS ONE 614" (in Unitologist writing, though), hinting at something on June 14th.....possibly a demo? If it's a demo, it better be longer than the demo for the first Dead Space™ game.

Gaia ought to have special items for Dead Space™ 2's release. This is an M-rated game we're talking about here, of course, but.....but, but, Gaia Online's not for kids anyway, so....bleh.

Anyway, if anyone wants to discuss Dead Space™ 2, or anything pertaining to the Dead Space™ series (including the upcoming prequel novel, or that cheap anime), here's the thread to discuss (unless there's already been hundreds of others ._. ).

mrgreen

I know it's not much, but I took great pleasure in making a .GIF image of the Hivemind eating Isaac.

I personally think it's funny, but again, that's just me. whee

Otherwise, don't forget about June 14th. "REBORN AS ONE 614" better mean something interesting, because we've still got to wait until early 2011 for the game to be released.

This is a Gaia avatar concept I made out of creative curiosity, inspired by the RIG suit.

It's not great, but oh well.
The trailer was amazing, but to be honest it didn't show a whole lot, outside of his face. The fact is that we don't know a whole lot about the game, but they are working on some possible multiplayer, and that its going to be taking place on a Human colony, and not earth.

But as far as Gaia promoting it, I don't see that happening, they might do stuff like Halo because of the mass market appeal, but Dead Space 2 is highly graphic and has a lot of gore.

While Gaia isn't for kids, its target is still younger than a Mature (17 ).

It didn't show much because, well, it is a "teaser" trailer. wink

But perhaps this source could be of some use? Gotta love Wikias.

Meh. I guess you're right. The reason I assumed Gaia could promote DS2 is because due to the fact that they promoted The Sims 3, that meant that Gaia hypothetically has "business relataions" with Electronic Arts, so it would be easy if Gaia wanted to promote Dead Space™ 2. But as for DS2's content, I suppose it isn't "Gaia-ish", as it's way too dark and scary. sad

Even if they don't promote the game, I'm hoping some items will be released (unless there already are some similar-looking items to, say, a RIG suit) just because it would certainly feel cool.

Eh...
Dead Space™ 2's official website has some interesting stuff, at least for those who take the series seriously (because the website sure treats it like it's a realistic experience). It has links to its Twatter account as well as its Facebook account, but there are also little downloadable goodies like wallpapers (non-HD wallies are 1600x1200, HD wallies are 1920x1200, and iPhone wallies are 320x480).

If you sign up for EA's newsletter you also get information from "the patient", including an image he made as well as an audio log (which I myself am having trouble gaining access to).

For now, one of the more interactive moments of the Dead Space™ 2 online community, besides EA's forums, is the opportunity to participate in mourning for those who perished on the USG Ishimura. This part is rather interesting because it hints a tiny bit at the storyline for Dead Space™ 2; EarthGov is saying that the tragic loss of everyone aboard the Ishimura was the result of a terrorist attack. But for those who played the first Dead Space™, I think we all know the real truth. stare Oh well; best to play along. xd

If I can, I will try to keep this thread alive and updated, even if mostly with little things here and there.
I can't wait for it, but I've read that their trying to reduce the "scariness" to a "Resident Evil 5" level, which not scary at all, will for me that is. I just hope they don't reduce it but should make it MORE scary.
I hope the online play is good. Also his suit looks AWESOME in my opinion.

i read that instead of doing the whole constant terror thing they did in the first game, they want to do it in sections sort of. like a section of terror, then some calmness, then terror again.

i seriously hope they dont tone it down much.

Yeah me to, I hope they don't change the goriness or the scariness at all.

Whaaaaaaat? Oh dear God; they better not tone down the scariness factor. That's how the first game was defined; though there weren't parts that made me jump, a lot of the scariness had some ingenuity involved, like how there wouldn't be a musical sting indicating a necromorph until you turned the camera around to see it behind you. There are rare instances also where you will be attacked even when you're at a shop kiosk, as proven in this fun video. Poor Juan. whee

A good horror element, to me, is the type that is almost heart-attack inducing. Unfortunately the creators could get sued for this, so who knows.

If the Lurkers return in DS2, I'm sure punting them will make a return. It should return; in Dead Space you had to punt a certain number of them to get a Trophy or Achievement, so hey.

Who knows, maybe there will be different kinds of babies this time around. More punting fun! biggrin

Though these ones don't look like they can be punted, they look a lot like children.

I personally have no issue with children or babies serving as templates for necromorph enemies. There were a few online who were worried about "killing babies" in Dead Space, but they must not have realized that how it worked was that the alien entity infected these children and turned them into monstrosities that are, well, trying to kill you. They don't need to be considered human once they become necromorphs, obviously.

Though there was a part in the storyline, as seen in Chapter 2 of Dead Space, that hinted that certain people (possibly Mercer) took newborn or unborn infants and implanted the infection into them, which is all a part of the mythos surrounding the Church of Unitology and how perverse they truly are.

Yeah I agree with you, they should just not touch that part. True there were some parts that didn't make me jump too. I've never been attacked by a Necromorph when I was in the shop, or upgrading my weapons. But it was right be-hide me when I was done. Guess it was waiting in line blaugh
