Anywho, curse Gaia to the depths of joyless heck & back for creating beautiful colors and abandoning them. Picking color combos at random and falling in love with the contrast only to find so few items exist in 1 scheme is tiresome.

Please, more Lunarian blue (and laser green, and amazon red, and fenghuang, just to name a few).

Tried to buy a pride tapestry three times from the Gold shops for my lbgtqia+ royal, and it never appeared in my inventory. Just had to enter it as is, and fingers crossed it looks somewhat close to finished.

Seen so many exclusive schemes, forgot most of them. The one I'm most bummed about is probably whatever's in this item: Magician's Reflection. I mean... what a beautiful dark purple, what a nice contrasting purple-red... And that hair colour too, magnificent.

Feel like I dropped the ball on my entries background, but my avi was already pretty busy towards the end anyway that anything else would have been clashy.

Hey, no worries. Sometimes I don't even bother with a background because of that.

It's kind of weird that backgrounds seem to thought of as mandatory. Isn't the point the outfit and not the background afterall? (pretty sure I've seen at least one mini-rant about that in here some time ago)

Most people prefer backgrounds on runway entries because it utilises the entire space. It gives people more to look at. Back with the old runway layout, it often made the avatars easier to see against the black as well.
Personally, I think even if it's just a simple background, it makes a more interesting look while voting. A complete scene is more interesting than the outfit - which is not always the only point of a theme.

Though, there are times when the background can detract or feel unnecessary. And, it feels like some entries lean on their backgrounds as a crutch.

Personally, I've never found that. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Imo, even a simple background elevates any look. It's nice to see people put in effort to make an entire scene, makes it feel like they put serious thought into their competition entry.

But hey, to each their own. And I love no background challenges just as much as the next gal.

Oh! Thanks for the idea, it's been awhile since we've had a foreground only contest entry.

I don't mind foreground only contests but might I suggest considering making them simple backdrop only? With the voting backgrounds now a warm or cold background, light or dark coloured background will make or break some of the entries.
