✦ COLOR SCHEME GUIDE COMPILATION THREAD ✦ [ last updated august 12, 2023 ]
howdy! this is a thread to compile all the various color scheme and shade guides and lists out there! featuring examples, and links to respective search tags or guides c:
this compilation has been adopted with permission from Zeetheus, whose thread was an expansion of GeInon's. thanks for all of your hard work guys!
a scheme is a consistent palette used in various items. a shade is a specific shade of a color. for example, candygloss is my favorite color scheme featuring cotton candy blue, but also a shade of pink... also known as candygloss :,)
i'll link the most recent version of a guide that i can find, but if it seems like it's no longer maintained, or if there isn't a guide to begin with, i'll link a relevant marketplace search. (please note when your guide was last updated, guys!)
please let me know if there's a guide you need added, a scheme you found a market link for, or if there's broken links, etc. (but please don't quote the first three pages! there will be a post from me on page 4 ripe for quoting!)
note: i'm a spoonie and i go on hiatus on and off. if you really need to reach me, and/or this guide super needs an update, please hmu on discord! stiffening#2180! please bear with me ;w;
if there's a guide linked in this thread, it'll be included here! pages 2 and 3 have all schemes and shades listed alphabetically by name. page 1 focuses on colors. the point is to help look for schemes that might match, and/or compare what schemes use what shades! probably not 100% accurate, but hopefully helpful all the same
key:
✦ colors marked with 𝓿 are noting 𝓿ariations in the scheme. ex: 𝓿 checkmate] by black and jet means that checkmate could use either of those shades
✦ colors marked with 𝓸 are 𝓸ptional colors. ex: 𝓸 rosette next to vintage means that rosette might occasionally use vintage gold
✦ colors marked with 𝓻 are 𝓻are and/or 𝓻etired. ie, colors that hardly show up, either by being outdated or no longer official. ex: 𝓻 byzantium by crepe means that byzantium used to use crepe, but no longer does
✦ colors marked with 𝓮 are shades 𝓮xclusively used for something specific, usually hair or eyes. ex: royal icing (𝓮 hair) next to pearl blonde means that pearl blonde is used only as a hair color in royal icing
✦ schemes marked with (?) are things i'm not entirely sure about, but have some evidence. ex: ripple blue is tagged in numerous items along with "deep" and "offshore," but i'm not sure if those are actually the scheme names
