any chance there would be a Brave browser extension?
That's a good question! We're always learning about new browsers. After investigating it, there doesn't seem to be an extension library for Brave browser extensions like there is for Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Edge. Even though it does support the Chrome Extension API like the others.
That means it's out of our control. We would have to make a request to the Brave team to add the extension. From what I gather that means it would show up in everyone's extension list. Since it's only for Gaia users and would not benefit the whole Brave community, I doubt they would add it. neutral
If you're looking for an open-source browser that doesn't track you, I'd suggest Firefox. You can then add a few various other extensions to help combat site tracking. Since Firefox 53 they've started multi-threading, this means it'll perform much faster as Firefox will separate different browser processes to optimize page loading. 3nodding
Yes. I'm a Firefox fan myself.. I just checked brave browser a while ago (because it's Brendan Eich's work) and since it's sorta new. and Pepper Flash is really good. I was wishing there would be an extension there too.
and also checked the request for the extension it seems that it has low traction not like Firefox's openness.
Currently we support both Firefox and Chrome.
Technically we also support Opera and Edge as well since Opera uses the same Engine and API as Chrome and Edge has an implementation of the Chrome Extension API. However, Opera does not like extensions to have minified code (which is needed for better performance otherwise there would be over 15k lines of code for what we have now) and for some odd reason I can't get Edge to install the extension for testing. So at the moment it's only available for Firefox and Chrome.
You can download GaiaUpgrade for Firefox, the link is on the front page or you can search for it inside Mozilla's AMD. 3nodding Version 1.2.1 is pending approval in Firefox at the moment, though.
