So, any predictions on what Gino will do now? I can't see him leaving the company without a leader. Seems like a waste of character development.

Ah-- I was just saying in the GST, I wonder if he is brokering trade deals with far away nations? He could very well be the Big Boss now & doing business travel. Or perhaps he is off to distribute medicine to underdeveloped areas? Scattering his father's ashes?

It's interesting that he says, thanks for seeing "me" off, not "us." Maybe he's just taking a vacation in the sky?

Good point! It looks like he's alone, and he's dressed for a business meeting.
I hope it's a short trip in any case. The Isle needs him.

So, here's my line of thinking, where it's been spinning for a while: Why does Gino have to run the company?

That was part of Johnny's vision. He was driven to reshape the world, and for better or worse, he succeeded. But Gino... what are his dreams?

For the longest time, we've been told that he wants to live up to his father's legacy, But he doesn't consider himself a businessman -- and maybe he's not, if you flip ahead a few more pages and see he decided to rebuild G-Corp without figuring out what it was actually doing. He's a little more honest and trusting, and he cares about the world beyond himself a great deal.

This gets really reinforced by his subconscious, where you might recall the disturbing dream where he was berating himself for not being a clone of his father, including in being a shark in business

(... don't even get me started on the fact that there is a clone Gambino who admitted he has experience running the business. every time I get started on that tangent I can't get off)

Thanks to the Ghost Dad moment, he was given reassurance... but about the strength of his character. I don't know about you, but I think part of the message there was that... the Isle of Gambino, G-Corp, everything, none of it was Johnny's true legacy. It was Gino, a strong heir who would carry the torch of ambition into the future.

Which means... I don't know. Ambition's about chasing dreams, and Gino's dream was picking up his father's mantle, not becoming a business mogul. In a way, it seems like it might be more appropriate for him to return to what he really enjoyed doing: Learning more about the world of Gaia.

Yeah, all good points - though, I like to think that he would use his inheritance to make Gaia a better place. So perhaps he is more of a humanitarian or philanthropist now than a businessman -- but they often appear quite similar.

I think from his battle with Nyx he has seen that he has the power to do good in the world. Matured as he has, I don't think he would squander that.

User-run events are just so hard to pull off nowadays. Unless you have a big dedicated group like Heartbreak Café or the D Club... it can be a big investment for low turnout.

I'm not sure what can be done to help it, other than waiting for Gaia to recover.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy for the people we do have -- I just feel like I'm not doing something I should be doing to get the party movin', ya know?

Yeah, I know. It's caused me a lot of frustration, too...

But it really is just... Gaia itself. This is about as much as can be expected, as a percentage of the total population...

The announcement will help a lot though. There's lots of people who are interested in events like this, but don't visit the GCD often -- an announcement causes the crowd size to jump. So don't let up!

Well, you didn't ask in so many words to make an announcement, just to mention it. So I did you a favor and (trading on my reputation for audacity) PM'd Zero Omega asking the staff to make an announcement. Also, make certain you put a link to the thread in your status announcement too.

I 100% agree here. I feel like Gino is going to set off to be his own man, follow his own ambitions! He'll influence the world in his own way. 4laugh
