The Daffodil Movement 2010-----------------------------❧

Hello and welcome! This is The Daffodil Movement 2010 Team Captain recruiting thread. We are using this space to help organize the event.

For those unfamiliar with it, The Daffodil Movement is an annual event dedicated to supporting cancer awareness. The bare bones of the event is to have as many people on Gaia as possible wear a daffodil bouquet during the month of April. The daffodil is a symbol of spring, new beginnings, but also of toughness. As the first flower of spring, it courageously defies the late frosts to grace us with its simple beauty.

Since the event is an entire month long, we have over the years grown to include lots of things participants can do in order to have fun and foster a sense of community.

That is where this thread comes in!

Team Captains

Last year was the first time TDM implemented the idea of teams. Sort of like the teams you see at relays IRL, teams in TDM are intended to pump up the excitement with some good-natured competition. In our case, teams are based off of different types of cancer. The team deemed "most spirited" wins a real-life donation for their type at the end of the event.

The event of TDM is held in its guild, and each team has its own thread- it's own base of operations. The teams have a lot of control over what they do. They can hold their own mini-contests or get togethers. In order to join a team, a person just tells the team captain and from there they just participate in what they want to.

Team Captains are the people that create and manage their team's thread. They take the few things their thread must include and then the rest is up to their creative freedom. We are starting to look for Captains in March because that will give you plenty of time to create your thread without feeling rushed or pressured.

Activity

Once you say what team you'd like to Captain, check out the guidelines in the Crew Only forum of the guild, and all that, it would not do to suddenly vanish. Since we're starting so early, it's important to touch base with us here every now and then. If you do not post and also do not begin setting up your team's thread, I will assume that you haven't made a final decision yet and the slot will look open for people who want to ask about the position. You will however have first priority if you asked first.

If you'd like to be a Captain, post about it and we'll talk. Don't be intimidated if you've never done something like this before! 10 other Captains are going to be right there beside you.

If you decide to become a Captain, you will be made Crew of the guild and you'll have access to the crew-only forum. There you can view and comment on the TDM 2010 main thread and talk with your colleagues.

Your thread will be set up in the crew-only forum and will only be moved into the public forum when the event begins.
