i'm so confused honestly
i never supported the animosity and the aggression towards him (doesn't mean i agree with the direction gaia's been taken, i'm just not one to personally attack anyone over it), but all this crazy-sudden-secretiveness about the dude's name?

Actually I am surprised that thread didn't get moved/deleted sooner.

Sisky even gave out the email address in an ATA for sending letters to Gaia HQ and ENCOURAGED it.

Emails to a monitored account are a far different beast from snail mail.
Of course she would encourage emails to mitigate the damage. It gives the illusion of support without actually doing so.

Edit: The different PO Box she gave in the letter thread I also thought was somewhat fishy, but honestly her posting at all was fishy in that thread. It seemed like something that as staff, they wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

If any thread had a good reason for being canned due to PII it was that one. But on the flip side, that method (letter bombing) was also the only protest (in my personal opinion) that had any chance of success.

yeah that thread turned into a cesspool of anger from what i saw
which is sad because the idea seemed like a good one
but a lot of the threads i've seen getting deleted tonight were pretty tame, people only really started getting openly bitter and sarcastic comments once their threads were getting trashed
i have a feeling this is gonna backfire--suddenly deleting posts/topics that all seem to relate to users' unhappiness with gaia/mentioning of the CEOs name, i mean

Did you read the post of mine that was deleted? I didn't call for him to be murdered or fired. I think this is happening now for even posts that simply mention their names.

Naming and shaming people is never okay unless its to do with something really really bad you got what you deserved.

Yes there should be more accountability and transparency in the upper management at Gaia

But on the other hand y'all kind of have a habit of taking whatever poor chump suit is in the monkey seat this year and making him into the site's saturday morning cartoon villain

My guess is, even though there were users who just simply mentioned his name without outright attacking him, having his name floating around Gaia left him open to attack by trolls. I heard his Crunchbase profile got hacked, and from what the original content was replaced by, there's no denying that someone from Gaia was behind it. So I'm not surprised if threads mentioning the CEO and COO's names are being deleted to protect them from attacks like that.

I don't think it's appropriate, but it *is* damaging to your personal brand to have your name googleable with so many colorful posts. They seem to be framing this as a security issue, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are other considerations at play in the new policy.

Sure - he wants to make sure he can move on to take over and destroy another unsuspecting site after this one. This might be a little more difficult when the new people search and discover many users at the previous place think he's a gigantic shitwad.

I seem to recall this being a policy that Gaia has had for awhile now.

That said, I find it rather suspicious given that we had an entire thread here in the GCD welcoming the new CEO, by name, created by an Admin. I could understand not wanting to have personal information of a user released, or not wanting to have a number of users start some sort of trolling crusade against an individual person. But the CEO of Gaia Online is public information. He is quite relevant to Gaia Online. It seems unusual, especially since they seem to have all disappeared at the same time.

Then again, there has been a lot of misinformation and accusations about the guy flying around. To play devil's advocate, perhaps it was a large sweep to remove posts accusing him of things or trying to make connections between his position and his activities outside of work?

I keep hearing people say this, but I'd love some verification because I can't find any official rule anywhere outside of no harassing.

(a million better ways to handle death threats...like watching out for death threats!)
It's kind of ridiculous that a forum made to discuss gaiaonline cannot mention staff names

but not surprising when those names don't have active accounts
and those names are often paired with other, not so flattering, pieces of info


of course it's all proof that they know their practices are s**t
