What do you use Gaia Online for?

These days, it seems to be only to make avatars and reminisce about days gone by. This site got me through some lonely years, and for the most part I still keep in touch with my friends in other places.

There are some though that I just...never talked to again one day. People I used to rush home to get online and spend time with, people I would spend hours on MSN nudging and video chatting. I don't have those logs, but I have our guild chats. Re-reading drama that seemed to important at the time, and so small now.

Every once and while I stumble back into the "active" forums, keeping an eye for familiar names and posting in threads that let me ramble...like this one lol

Enjoy the items and play dress up w my avi, which is a great way to de-stress for me. Love looking at others' avis too and see if I can recognize as many items as I can at a glance.
Lately, there's also a sense of connection. Even just lurking on threads to read how ppl's days are going, it's a change of pace from my hectic real life. I met new close friends because of gaia, and bonding over avies and new releases improves my mood for the day.
And for the most extremely selfish reason: fast validation. An unprompted outfit fave? Burst of serotonin. Compliments? Giddy all day. Gifts from friends? No matter how bad my day had been, gaia can turn it around w these interactions w the community. I take any chance to find little happy moments and by george if there are crumbs of joy I can pull from this old site, I'm yanking it hard with my grubby cluttered hands.

Pffft eheh. When a former community I'm in shut down, losing contact with friends in the process, Gaia was one of the site that I remembered stumbling so I signed in.

I've never been active a lot in this community but I can say I feel the same in some aspects. This site helped me with imagination and writing during a lonely period in my life. And still do!

Back then there was also a site similar to Gaia Online, which was TinierMe. It got shut down by 2012. I really love dressing up and hustling for items, which was easier here because of Lake Kindred.

back in the day I would RP and make aviart for inspiration- I never really learned how to talk to people in the other forums

now I pop in like a few others here everyone once in a while and still draw people sometimes
sometimes I'll make OCs with the avatar builder and whatnot but mostly lurking now hoping a new friend jumps out of the bushes

At this point I'm just playing around with the avatar system since most items I ever found to be completely unattainable are now eminently attainable.

I come on here just to do avi dress up play a few games fishing i am trying to learn the lake kindred thing. dumpster dive read through some forums and maybe post like i am doing now.
Sometimes i do the runway thing but for the most part I play dress up my avatar or decorate my house if i can get it to load
I used to do the town thing but my biggest issue is friends that I started with many years ago are no longer on here so I am having a hard time meeting new people but I might give it a try awhile longer

I use to hang around in Towns before the death of flash and whatever the hell  happened with the management of this website. Roleplaying with friends and just hanging out was my favorite thing to do, when I was younger getting through the school day just to go home and hang out with everyone was the thing I looked forward to the most, so many hours spent chatting it up, what I wouldn't give to go back to those times and enjoy them again. As an adult I log in occasionally but my friend's list has dwindled significantly, frankly I don't even talk to the ones I do have added, more of a nostalgic thing by keeping them there.
