Well technically the Grombie skin was a fusion of a Grunny and a human.
The G virus started to merge the Grunny's DNA with the host.
That's why the later stages of Grombie-ism gives you big red eyes
and a cute rabbit mouth.

I meant something along the lines of a complete DNA merge. A humanoid grunny if you will. Guy base body that is completely covered in green fur.

It would be interesting. Have Lab Tech X give out vials of serum that completely alter a Gaian's DNA, converting them into an anthropomorphic Grunny. Then after a Halloween battle on zOMG!, the serum is released to the public by Gambino after some alterations were made to said serum. I know that idea sucks, but I'm just saying it would be interesting. Since 05, he must have a whole host of experimental serums by now. Mad scientists never know when to stop. XD

Possibly but Grunnies were around long before the rift was created so the originals were
most certainly not animated.

remember: the G-Virus was made thanks to a DNA sample of a grunny.

it seemed to me, that the grombies were hosts for growing grunnies... and once it was fully grown, it would detach and the body would die. Stage 5 is probably teen grunnies just about ready...
