I completely judge people who do the cosplay Gaia family thing and all have the same last name, because the people who do that are notorious for starting drama on and off the site and harassing other users over something as simplistic as cosplay and items.

Usernames have always been a special and important journey for me, especially since I'm transgender xp

My birth name was Lorenzo, the kids in middle school used to call me Lor. I believe it started cuz we were all reading the Pendragon series, and there was a character in the books named Loor (who happened to be a girl! 12 year olds are damn intuitive I suppose)

So my first ever username on the internet was Lor13, used it for all my accounts. But I eventually realized how lame that was, and changed it Twilight BLAST here on Gaia. It went thru a few variations for a bit, "twiBLAST", "xXx_BLAST_xXx", etc. But my friends here would always call me either Twi or Blast....

Then my mental health went to s**t and things got a bit....darker. For a long while my name was Midnight BLAST, and then Midnight Trickster. Right on time for H2K9, I was with S.I.N.

After a series of really stupid events my username changed to LoRthePuppeteer. Then it was zehRocketeer for a bit but went back to LoRthePuppeteer eventually. The friends I made on this website became family, and we started talking to each other outside of Gaia, we learned about each others RL names, and they started calling me Lor alongside Twi and Blast.

When I finally came to the realization that I'm not a boy, I obviously didn't want to stick with the name Lorenzo, so I changed it to Lor, obviously.

Wasn't the name I stuck with tho. I went from "Lor" to "Lore" and then to "Nyx". Nyx is the goddess of the night in greek mythology, and a god here on ******** Gaia Online. I swear the latter wasn't intentional, but I'm pretty sure i did get the name from the character in the manga here. But changing my RL name to Nyx was heavily inspired by my old usernames, Twilight and Midnight.

My mental health was also terrible for the time my name was Nyx, same as before with Midnight. When it finally got better, I decided that I needed a name for myself that invokes light instead of darkness, so I changed my name one last time to Gloria.

TL;DR Being trans is weird but also cool cuz you get to choose your own name, and often times trans people choose names based off of fun things, like usernames!

My RL name may not be Lor anymore, but I'm going to keep my username here on Gaia as it is, because LoR was always a character that existed in Gaia, and that character has become less of a blatant self insert and more of a ghost of my past life (metaphorically and literally! )

I sort of regret changing my username from Replacement Sai. That username had way more significance for me, I was known for that username back in the day. Everything prominent that I have done was with that username. I was a pretty known cosplayer in the Naruto forum, and most of my good Gaian memories come from that.

Now... Sora Kodo. Why did I change it to that? It was a new cosplay name for a lesser known series, Ruler of Nabari. I was sort of surprised the name wasn't taken yet. I did have moderate success with it. Maybe I was tired, I wanted to be known for something else. But, now it just turned into something general. I've quit doing cosplay avatars for a few years now, I kind of miss it but I still just want to be an average Gaian.

As for judging, around 2006 in the anime/manga/comics forums there were a ton of trolls and rude people there (unfortunately I started to follow suit, I was pretty young still and I promptly stopped after a lengthy warning PM) many of them got banned and just rose up again as a v2 or X with horribly ugly avatars (tetris blocks, anyone?) which just always makes me think they're not good people. Of course it's case by case, but through my experience I associate it with trolls and such.

Everyone on my friends list calls me Sai no matter what, from things of the past. Random people just call me Sora, I guess. But outside of Gaia I am more known as Yura.

And of course I can't ever forget my first username--Wata Yuuko. I was real into CLAMP series then and was reading xxxHOLiC. I liked the two main characters so that's how it came to be. I moved accounts from there to here, but I changed the name there twice into Suigetsu Yuuko (cosplaying as Suigetsu from Naruto) and then to Saelyn Yuhara. Funnily, this current account was supposed to be a cosplay mule but it's my main now.

Username is actually quite meaningful to me, as it's the name of my vampire original character.

1. Two references inspired the creation of my current username: Alpha Florian.
Alpha, originates from the videogame Soul Calibur V. When two of the new main characters gain a new addition to the first or last half of their name from either descending or ascending based on the blessed/cursed sword they weild. Protrokolus(sp?) becomes a Protrokolus because he wields Soul Calibur. I've always admired that aspect of Alpha and Omega. Hence, I use it for my main hero and villain roleplay characters in rp forums. Florian comes from Tales of the Abyss rpg. A young boy high priest looses his life and becomes a clone at some point in the middle of the game and needs a name, so one of the main characters names him "Florian" because in it's native tongue it means "Innocent One." And I liked it.

2. Unfortunately, I've only had this username for this account for under two months, but I hope to keep it to this one. I've had two previous usernames to this one: Kaizen Misayo (My favorite name for characters to play in Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors franchises) and Chaplain Kenchi (My username for characters I play in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls videogame series.)

4. Usually no, the exception is usually if the username is outright rude or derogatory. It tips me off of their behavior and lack of creativity, as well as manners.

5. I most often go by Florian. One calls me "Flo" for short, how I let her get away with it, I'll never know.

6. Yes! My first account, was Dirkfire in 2004! The good 'ol days. XD
A close friend at the time introduced me to the sight after observing I had a passion for roleplaying and great imagination. So he made the account with me. Since "Darkfire" was taken, I settled for the previous, it made no sense, but I stood informed it could always be changed later. Now it stands as a lonely avi, Kenchi of Taichi. My real life nickname. I can't remember for the life of me, but I started this new account thinking it was impossible to change emails for it. I can't remember the original email of the account to this day, nor the crazy password I changed it to to ensure the username or account could never be changed or hacked. So that was a slap in the face. But sometimes I like to reminisce of the good times I had in long-past rps when I was a bumbling newbie getting yelled at because of my inexperience; crazy enough they were some of the best online friends I ever made, despite how mad they got, I was the guild pet and they all swore I'd be a master rper some day.

Technically, I didn't come up with my username. Back when I still frequented normal forums quite often I came across a thread where the creator was offering to give people random nicknames. I came across as a total spaz (I often do) and that landed me the title "Queen Spazzy of the 35th and a half dimension."
I liked it so much I ended up changing my username to it (and at this point it has practically become my online identity).
I've had it for AGES now, so long I'm not quite certain about the when, only that it has been something over eight years.
I do occasionally judge people by usernames (e.g. I'm hedgy of certain names, especially ones trying to be offensive, because I'm afraid their personality will be similar), but I usually wait until I've at least seen the person's posts before committing to a judgement.
I'm not settled on any one thing to go by, actually! I leave it up the person talking to me to decide what they want to call me, often it's simply Spazzy, occasionally Queen, and sometimes people call me by something else entirely!
Oh goodness, I DO remember my monstrosity of a first username (mcr_anime_fr33k), I don't have any spare accounts, so it's not being held, I changed from it because it was immature and dull and, well, Queen Spazzy was so much cooler, haha~ I certainly don't regret the change, especially seeing as it's the only one I've had!

"Turtle" (which has been my irl nickname since 01) was taken so I went with the first adjective that popped into my head. I have a back up mule that I also made in 03 when I joined and only changed my username once when the name change feature was announced as an option. I changed it to Rabid-Squirtle as a joke, then changed it back same day using up my two free name changes.

I do judge users by their names if its something crass, gross or immature I will automatically think less of you if I don't know you. First impressions and all.

I've changed usernames almost like my underwear, because I couldn't make up my mind.
Either on my avatar, nor on the name.
Both had to match to me. It felt weird to have a name from a book or movie, but a completely different avatar xD

But now I try to just keep the one I have, regardless of what kind of Avi I'm in the mood for.
The name comes from a series of books that I love a lot.

i don't judge people on their usernames per se, but if it has lots of numbers or _'s or X's idk it just looks weird to me x_x

most all people who know me use cutesu, and because that's what my main oc is also called, i've had people shorten it to tsu as a nickname which i really like haha ;w;/ emotion_bigheart

My username was inspired by my love for Pokemon. "Flarie" was my Pokemon trainer's name and I really love fire Pokemon. Especially Flareon. heart Flareon was part of the inspiration behind my name too. whee

"Hanami" was added when I joined the Digimon fandom. I was young and naive and thought Hanami was a great last name. I've been sporting my "Flarie Hanami" username on the Internet since 2003. Although recently, I have started going by "Flare-Flare" on a lot of new sites I join. I started doing this because people who know me by my old username years ago are still trying to follow me around and I want a little privacy sometimes.
