Welcome to Gaia! ::

Does anyone else think that "Toxic Drop" is a pretty sick ploy on part of gaia to make profit from the oil spill?

No, not really. Gaia would've made a rig with cute sea critters sooner or later, might as well have some of the money go to charity to benefit the gulf.

Well, a 60k store price means that the people who are dropping millions on the otter now are likely going to feel like MORONS in a day or two. I'm thinking it'll even out closer to 140k if the kimono dresses are anything to go by.

Same. It's too common already to remain expensive. I'd have sold it at 1mil if I had one. x)

There adorable items, I wouldn't buy any of them but I did buy a Toxic Drop to contribute. (:

It kind of gives me the image of someone making a big show over putting a nickel in the salvation army buckets. "Oh, look at me being selfless and giving my money to those who need it. Aren't I generous?" wink

I got that same impression myself.
Do you get the image of a woman in a Cruella DeVile fur coat with a diamond ring the size of a grape and ridiculously long red nails doing this, as well?

its better than nothing.
Gaia still needs the money too.

I don't usually pull this line, but it's a pixelated item. I'm sure there are users who would make this item for FREE, let alone to get a salary from Gaia. A larger donation would have been more impressive.
Am I the only one who thinks of dragon ball at the name of the turtle xD

But certainly, the artists themselves had their heart in the right place, they do not decide the price or anything else for that matter.

50 cent for the cause, roughly $1 for charges and transfers, and $3.50 untouched profit for gaia. This is a sick joke.

I'm going to watch it for a bit, it looks like you have something of a 1/10 chance of getting any specific critter....so...

Actually yes. Only donating 10% seems very low to me, since there is no production cost. They're making a 90% profit off of the oil spill, and the idea of cute animals being harmed in one.

User Image

Yep. No production cost at all, 'cause nobody pays artists.

For every toxic drop you buy we give a whopping 50 cents to the oil spill!

Seriously Gaia?

Well, we know that now, but that's not the image she put up to begin with, was it?

Exactly.
People look at the profits and think Gaia is shoving them completely into their pockets.
They have costs too, you know.
