Yes, the ads were a bad move and they bugged me (quite any ad bugs me... cat_xp ), but I ignored them so much, I learned about Tekton' site from the Gaia forums...quite ironic!
I really hope they did started before with the notices, but we have no way to know and I'm not in the position to trust Gaia again right now, so I prefere to keep my mouth shut.
I do not care aswell, and I do think his behaviour might be questionable but there are surely reasons behind it, as there are behind Gaia's decisions.
What irks me, is that most people are being very rude towards both parts and know very little on the matter. The dreamavatar site was not updated, the site was slow...? Yes, obviously. It was free, and I would say to those complaining: go, make your own if you are tired and can do any better. And for the ones witch-hunting on Gaia: something had to be done for those ads.

I oddly enough knew of Tekton's website before he was advertising it since I knew one of TekTek's previous volunteers. He had first tried recruiting them for recolor.me but since it was still going to be unpaid volunteer work, my friend wasn't interested and rather stick to what avatar site she loved. xD
But I never really paid attention to the ads. Mainly because I have hardly used TekTek the last three years. Even then, I couldn't help but feel since the beginning of last year it'd be trouble having them on there and no other ad packages. :c
Like I don't care for Tekton as a person but even then, it was easy to set that aside and look at what facts have been presented to everyone. 2 + 2 = 4 still and it bothers me so many Gaians are straight up namecalling each other over this or namecalling Tekton without ever providing zero evidence. I can say in this thread people have tried to be reasonable with providing information and things of that sort at the very least instead of just instantly jumping to attacking other Gaians, Gaia staff, or Tekton. I've tried to make a fair assessment of both sides and while I'm still cautious about trusting Gaia, I feel they really did take the proper steps in handling this for once.
But anyway. Regardless of TekTek being a free site, people aren't upset over that I don't think. It's more they're upset that this decline happened heavily all at once last year after August when Tekton jumped fully into recolor.me and nothing else. Even the volunteers have been saying that's when server issues came up ( I guess he apparently switched to cheaper/bad quality servers then? ) and all the bugs, and when they hit a huge brick wall with trying to talk to him.
I guess people have tried asking him for the programming/code for TekTek so they can do a new version and run it themselves. Guessing it has probably fell on deaf ears though since a volunteer Tuesday barely got him to add up the database for people to access old saved avis.
It's a shame and the site did have its uses but it certainly wasn't the first of its kind. It probably won't be the last either if, for whatever reason, Gaia doesn't try making their own systems to do the same thing. I really think people have thrown it way out of proportion, just like other things on here lately, when there isn't much reason for it. :/
