The only thing I want Gaia to do is make a post formatting thing, since I'm stubborn and don't wanna download no tektek, better Gaia, whatevs.
I use BetterGaia myself, and I like the fact that I can turn off features and more importantly it's not as bright so the layout is much easier on my eyes.

Why hire someone and pay them actual money when you could get outsiders to do the same thing for no cost to you? That's how I see it from Gaia's end.
I've never used the features myself, though.

I think this is pretty much it.
Gaia already has the means and the people who can make these kind of tools and such but why haven't they? Cause it would cost them.

I love betterGaia and tektek, especially since BG updates almost daily and tektek has a new, smoother layout.

I tried BetterGaia, and honestly didn't like it. sweatdrop

But, I would kill to be able to layer items however I wanted. mad The kind of search function tektek has I prefer over Gaia's as well. That's "all" I would like to see implemented on Gaia that 3rd party sites have, and I think it'd be something Gaia would be able to do just as well if not better than them. whee

Sparkly Gaian

The reason why they haven't hired that guy is the same reason why Blizzard haven't hired half the people from curse.com.
The fact that this stuff is fan- made keeps other fans interested. If they all started getting hired, people will be making stuff just to get hired. Also, what WoW did was wait for ages until some addons were REALLY popular, then make their own version of it and integrate it into the game, thus making the addon obsolete (Questhelper). So Gaia could be developing their own version of BetterGaia, in theory.

For me, I haven't tried any of the others, but as long as things runs smoothly, I am a OK
I was really pondering about using bettergaia, but I guess I'm okay with the site as it is for now. I'd love to try it down the road. And to be honest, I think I'd prefer some of these features to be maintained by third party peoples. The sporadic updates from gaia devs would hinder the features, most definitely.

I used to be an avid user of Better Gaia before my Fire Fox lagginess had forced me to switch to Google Chrome. I know there's an app for BG for Chrome, but I tried it and it kinda sucked.

I don't know a thing about using bettergaia or greasemonkey, but I wouldn't come near gaia without my adblock.

Same, without adBlock... O_O.
I don't block every add just the real annoying ones and the obnoxious post styles (too large or just ugly).

And I also never tried GaiaBetter or the monkey, maybe I should try it out one day.
TekTek bar is the only one I use and that is for is the autopost.

I did try the Gaia bar but it offered less than the TekTek bar so it was pointless to have.
I have no idea why Gaia hasn't implemented a good dream-avatar system yet. There's clearly a need for it, as Tekton can't/doesn't want to keep up the site. It can take months for items to be embedded into the system he has now.

The inventory/Gaia search type of thing is far, far, far from being even close to what tektek has done for the community.

Only real issue i have with the search feature in the avvie room, is it doesn't allow for multiple pose of the same item.

I, for one, agree the dream avatar function of tektek has allowed me to not worry about questing for many expensive-a** items. It's a good system.

For things like BetterGaia and GreaseMonkey I doubt that Gaia would be interested on some of it. Anything that changes a layout where Gaia might be a disadvantage doesn't seem like in Gaia's best interests. Now aside from personal taste (and not gonna lie but I feel like we--myself included--are often times way too judgmental on the layout) and actual computer issues (my computer is 5 years old so tweaks on the site would help its performance all things considering)

As for something like BetterGaia I'm exploring it on a mule account and I do not know if something like this would be used on Gaia. At least certain features of it certainly would not. People already have an ad-blocking service through AdBlock and others and I do not feel it's right to circumvent Gaia's own advertising specifically. I purchase cash shop items and so have had ads blocked for me and I feel like willfully blocking advertisements (not considering those with poor connection or older computers) are possibly meaning that the sales department will only sell more ad space. Plus some of the customization feels like so pointless to me. I don't know but I don't want to meet someone who rages over tipping and has to hide it. P:

As for Greasemonkey scripts I'm not familiar but what I said about ad-blocking would be applied to Greasemonkey as well. Although looking through I would like to implement some by Mindset that help the user experience and does not circumvent the experience Gaia wants the user to have. I personally would love an option to turn off autoplay in profiles, and their script regarding letting users know which mods are online/offline is useful or their shop preview fixes that would make it that more complete (adding sit/kneel, hand poses etc). The thing about the whole mule thing is that if Gaia implemented that feature I feel like we're exposing ourselves to possible security risks that needs to be addressed (i.e. oh look a scammer or hacker now has access to possibly several different accounts).

And I'm sorry but I feel so uncomfortable with the notion that Gaia contracts users (i.e. users who made BetterGaia, Greasemonkey tools, Tektek etc) and not compensate them? I mean Tekton, I think Mindset and others have spent time into creating the scripts and sites so why shouldn't they be compensated for their hard work? More so if they are contracted through Gaia to do continued work. This should not be a volunteer position nor would I want to see their work used and worked on by other people who would not minding working for free. If you had the brains to create these scripts and sites, wouldn't you want compensation? That's really down right rude to the users who put their time and effort into it. If they ever contribute to the site they need to be compensated for their hard work. Anything less feels so unethically horrible and criminal.

I like how everyone refers to "Gaia" as a person. Gaia a.k.a. GaiaOnline is a site. You should be using better terminology, such as the owners, administrators, & developers. Gaia doesn't make decisions. The owners and employees do. Gaia is just the product of their decisions.
