Honestly, I think she was just overreacting. I think the kid threw a little hissy fit until her mother just gave her her own way.

I also am starting to wonder if possibly, they just made the story up. I've searched her out, and found nothing but really bad avatars/people who seem too mature to just throw a temper tantrum. If she had her account back, why on earth hasn't she posted since 2005, and why isn't she wearing any of her "valuable" clothing?

Also, I agree with Lemons. She has no idea what trauma actually is. She truly does sound like a spoiled brat whose parents came to the rescue a little too soon and a little too strongly. It all just seems too unrealistic to be believable. Why should I believe one girl was able to convince the CEO of Gaia to get her things back when they aren't always able to help people who actually lose things to glitches or events that are beyond their control or without reasoning?

I'm sure most of us feel sorry for her predicament. Sure, she fell for a retarded and very obvious scam but humans make mistakes, no matter how silly it seems to other people or in retrospect.

Wow, that is reallly sad. It states that she has been here for atleast seven months now and in all that time she has not once noticed that gaia is practically plastered with signs that states that you are to never give your password to anyone.

I believe that this will be a good lesson to show her that you are never to give her password to anyone. I do feel sorry for her to have lost her items, but still. Well, atleast in the future she won't be falling for any of those kind of PM's anymore.

You have to remember, it said in the article the names have been changed to protect her. So, Bluebird and/or Clementine most likely aren't her real names.

The funny thing is, the more I look at that avatar, the more I feel like I've seen it before. (And no, not the multipule Clementine posers when this was new) Probably because about a million people have that same avatar, but even so, it just looks so dang familair to me.

If you notice in the article, it says she lives in Manhattan. So my guess why she of all the thousands of scam victims was able to get her stuff back is that one or both of her parents have some clout in the media/computing/entertainment or financial worlds.

Plus, Jack Myers, one of the authors on the article and owner of the website, has written a book about teenagers and virtual worlds. My guess is he found out about the kid from interviewing one of her parents.
