GGN: Guild Updates:
So, it seems that Gaia's finally given a little bit of attention to the old 2005 coding that is the Gaia Guild Network (the GGN). Now, let's look at some of the 'improvements' that has happened to the guilds.

*Ruffles through some papers*
...

Excuse me one moment, I seemed to have lost some important information here, because all I really see is a tag implementation, a restriction on the names, and a description. Now, I'm not one to rant on and on about this kinda thing, but does it really have to be just that? I mean, even before GGN was introduced to Gaia, promises were already being made about GGN Guilds having places in Towns (yeah, that's been around the same time too). We were promised to have something to actually use the donated gold for, other than subforums. Where is it? Why hasn't some of the basic bugs that happen to all people, instead of a few that I saw listed, fixed? Try fixing the new post icon for the subforums, perhaps? Or am I just an old coot who is slowly being driven insane?

Now...onto Spacemen.

*Flips through some files quickly and reads a few lines*

Seems Gaia's on the third ranking, since I saw, for hitting the name. Of course right under us is the name Xenu (hoo boy). However, since Gaia means Earth (not just some goddess or that chick from Captain Planet), it does seem odd that a node (the thing we are voting for) is mainly a water based system.

How is it water based? Let's see...
Quote:
Node 3 will connect to the port side of the Unity Node and will provide room for many of the station’s life support systems, in the form of eight refrigerator-sized racks. After Node 3 is installed, the station’s crew will transfer over many of the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) currently stored in various places around the station, including:

Oxygen Generation System (OGS), which takes the station’s water and splits it apart into hydrogen, which gets vented into space, and oxygen, which is returned into the cabin for the crew to breathe

Atmosphere Revitalization System (ARS), which controls the station’s carbon dioxide levels and maintains the temperature and atmospheric pressure at comfortable levels

Water Recovery System (WRS) and Urine Processor Assembly (UPA), which take waste water from the station and purify it, separating any contaminants and making it safe for the crew to drink

Waste and hygiene compartment, which provides a place for the crew to use the bathroom in a way that allows the station to process the majority of the water used onboard so that it may be used again, greatly lessening the need for resupply flights from Earth.

Now, that's nothing to be ashamed of in the least, it just made me chuckle a little bit.

On a side note, by damn! Lanzer's first announcement in...how long has it been? *Counts.* Sat Apr 26, 2008. That's just a little less than a year ago. Wow.

And finally, the Avatar System!

Seems the little bugger's finally up. Seems a bit faster to me, but I'm also a bit depressed they took yet another set of wings away from us. Compare:
New System to the Old System

What's your thoughts? Haha, I'd love to hear em.
Sounds to me like they should call it Piss-eidon. That's right I went there.

I'm sure that's being worked on, Sherry. Meanwhile, you could use the one from the old system I guess?

Also, viper, I see you caught up on that entire urine to drinking water thing, eh? Still a little weird in my mind.

The fact that the node is a water based system is just perfect for Gaia, though! Seeming how the majority of Earth and life is made up of water. Water makes the Earth special. This node water processor dealy bop is going to supply life to the crew members, yay!

Nevertheless, I am rooting for Colbert!
Late to the party?

Don't give a s**t about the NASA Space thing, and the Avatar System works great.

Agreed. (There should just be an "agree" button sometimes.)

You know, there is that function for vB boards...wonder if the guys at Gaia could either whip one up for phpBB or at least find a code like that. Then again it does cut down on the gold get.

>>; You make a good point. Just seems something, water-ish in name should take the place. Well, at least in my mind, haha. Still find it weird at a few points of what the node would be doing.

Also, I find it amazing that Colbert's still #1 for the suggestions. I'd really like to get my hand on the actual numbers to see how close who is to who.

Damn straight, this is the internet! We have nothing better to do than fight celebrities over the rights to toilet names.

Also if Gaia or Colbert win, Stephen has a hand in the winner either way. Stupid MYYEARBOOK is still in second... grr...

Honestly, i was expecting a bit more out of the guild update... It was disappointing, fixing glitches that most people were use too and could get around... As it was, it took them a long time to even get to the guilds... I wish they would just make a little thing in there for guild leaders that would make it easier to manage the threads in their guild. The only thing is for the subforums, and whether or not you want to delete them. Theres nothing in there for you to manage the threads within a subforum.... Yah...

Anyways, on to the space thingy. Not like it matters much, when i got to the page it wouldnt even let me vote.. So yah...

New avatar system!!! Lets see, its pretty nice to not have to deal with the reload page over and over.. I like not getting the errors that would pop up all the time. New buttons, new faces, a bit easier to get through, yadda yadda/// But~ One, wheres the delete avi button? ((dont answer that part, i know where it is...)) Not to cry about stupid stuff, but it was pretty nice to have the delete avi button there when you needed it. Not to mention, right now i cant put some items on cause it wont let me, or some items have magically disappeared!!! And theres some of the evolving items and Donation letters that you cant get one of the poses.... Whats up with that??? One thing i liked was if you were in the mist of changing your avi but didnt save yet, you could go to the stores and preview items and it would show the avi you were making.. Dont know if it was a glitch or what, but i liked it. I dont really like the fact that you dont have the button that will just let you look at your inventory... I liked my buttons T,T

I dont know, the system is really odd, and in order for it to work theres a few things they will have to work out, but who knows when those will be fixed... SO yah...
