Welcome to Gaia! ::

Tricky Fairy

I had been using the autocash feature basically since it's inception. 1200 cash credits per month, (plus the 10% discount that they used to have for subscribers) had been the perfect amount for me to get that month's MCs and a rig bundle. I usually supplemented this with a few of the free cash offers, but overall I was getting exactly what I wanted, with a little left over each month to save up for any cool EIs that caught my eye. Now though, with all these $30-$70 rereleases happening on a near weekly (possibly even daily by my impression) basis, it feels like a pointless endeavor to continue getting my relatively small allowance. It seems like you should either be willing to pay well into the $50 range for items, or not be willing to spend real world money at all, and anything in between is just a waste of time and money.

On the other hand, part of me argues that continuing doing exactly what I have been doing could help set Gaia back on the right path. By being a steady consumer, I am showing Gaia which items sell well and which do not. So long as they are making larger profits off the lower priced items than the high priced ones, they will eventually see that flooding the market with items very few people are willing to pay their price for isn't a sound strategy. So what do people think? Should I cancel my subscription and cut Gaia off from what little income they get from me? Or should I continue what I'm doing and hope that sound logic prevails?

Please note that this is not a financial issue for me. My budget is more than capable of handling the $10 I spend each month here.

I don't know that by continuing you'd be sending any kind of message to Gaia at all, other than to keep doing as they're doing, because it's not disenfranchising/angering small cash purchasers.

We would really have to have a better look at overall Gaian cash spending patterns to know what would hit their wallet. Are the greatest majority of GC purchasers small-purchasers such as yourself, or how much dough are most people shelling out a month?

It sounds like you're getting less joy out of your $10, which should be the deciding factor, really.

It was proven during the zOMG sales that buying specific items isn't going to help a specific portion of the site. All the money they receive is pulled together and divided equally.
By not giving them money in one area, it's just screwing them over in another.

That's not to say I agree with these 50 dollar items. ******** no.
Nothing should be over $10.00 on this site.

I'd say cancel your subscription, yes I'm very much against GC, but that aside...Gaia's not going to get any message if you keep doing as you are doing. At the very least, you could cut back the amount for your subscription. I think until we make Gaia realize they are not going to make profits because the community of the whole is very angry with their business strategy nothing is going to change. If you keep your subscription as is, buy all the REI's/AC/RIG you want upon first release, because unless something changes, they next they are re-released, they will be at least double in price.

Sadly, the only message you are sending is "if we give you more cash items will you give us more cash? Yes? then cash only it is!"

Do it. I already did.
It's hard to say. You bring up two very good points there.
Personally, I've discontinued my patronage all together. I feel like completely stopping buying anything from Gaia would send a bigger message to them.

It really comes down to if you're happy or not. Is the ten dollars worth it any more? Do you get as much happiness from it as you used to? The answers to those questions would more or less be the deciding factors. Personally, I'd stop, but that's just me.

Changing the amount of my subscription isn't an option. Auto cash is only available at $10/month. No more, no less, though I can imagine the 'no more' part being something they'll change in the foreseeable future if they keep going the path they're on.

»»» Cancel your subscription. Giving them money right now only lets them think that they're doing something right. And that shouldn't be happening right now. They're ******** up big time and they need to know it.

The less people that fund their bullshit, the better.

I find myself debating the issue as well, I'm still on the fence about it. I feel that I'll just wait and see how they implement the Loyalty system and how it relates to AC users.

I'll say this much, I've been a member of this site since 04, I to signed up for AC since the very start, and it's been my home here on the web. Gaia was the online community I always came back to.

I literately grew up with Gaia as part of my life so in some respects I'm a sucker for this one diversion. I don't want Gaia to die and 10 bucks isn't a lot but at the same time, the 30-50$+ items just doesn't sit well with me.

Maybe I'm just making excuses, I don't know, I love Gaia, I met the love of my life through here but I guess there comes a point even you can't follow that one family member if they keep towards a bad path eh?

Truthfully, I can't believe there are people who still use autocash.
This thread totally floored me, haha.

Personally, I've stopped supporting Gaia money-wise. I put up adblock the moment they released Flynn's Booty the 2nd time. I've stopped buying anything Cash Shop, not even with the GC I've gotten through offers alone. In fact, I've stopped doing offers.

I don't want to support them if they're going to ignore their userbase. I want to know that what they're doing isn't making us happy, even if I am left behind in the dust by cash-buyers.
