Johnny Kage Gambino

Date of Birth: 15th of May, 1962
Deceased: 5th of March, 2010
Height: "I've heard it's almost 7 feet."

Billionaire. Tycoon. Megalomaniac. Sexy beast. Whatever you call him, Johnny K.
Gambino was a foundation and formative member of the everyday Gaian
experience for many, many years. His luxurious mansion on Isle de Gambino
once hosted lavish parties, and he never seemed to begrudge us for burning it
down or blowing it up when a party got out of hand. (Granted, much of that was
also his own doing.)

From the time of his interview with Gregory Donovinh, two short years after
his beloved Rosalie was killed, Johnny lived a larger-than-life life of adventure
and grandiosity. From hitting rock bottom following the explosion of his
mansion during the Halloween party of 2004 (and subsequent loss of his
son) to his meteoric rise (literally) in his soaring Tower, backed by loyal Gaians,
to his second fall on April Fool's 2005, Johnny's story was quite the rollercoaster.
The ride continued when he returned triumphantly to defeat LabTech X,
then used the remarkable sales of his Red Bino energy drink
to once again rebuild his mansion... just in time to have it destroyed during
the 2006 Halloween party with a crash-landing of the
Zurg ship. And, while his partnership with Mother did not work out,
he had precious little time to stew in the failure, as 2007 brought a dangerous
vampire threat to light. This threat, intertwined with another, darker force
Johnny could never have predicted, ultimately cost him his life and put an end
to Johnny K. Gambino once and for all. Or did it?

Date of Birth: 13th of May, 1988

Gino Gambino. No middle name. Who knew the meek, quiet little boy, constantly
overshadowed by his larger-than-life father, would become one of Gaia's
most important people? Well, his father knew - "If there's one thing Gambinos
can infinitely bear, it's pressure. Mark my words: in a hundred years, I'll be
remembered for just one thing: siring Gino Gambino, history's greatest man."

And bear pressure Gino did. From surviving the explosion of his father's mansion and
being left with amnesia to being reunited with his father the moment he was targeted
by an assassin's bullet, to forging a new life out of the remnants of the old,
Gino has survived one challenge after another. And with those challenges running
the gamut from battling holidays to getting the girl to being possessed
by a deity, there has been no shortage of pressure put on the young Gambino.
Even sailing away in a wandering airship was not able to spare Gino the
pressures the Gambino name brought him, as evil enemies soon started to
crawl out of the darkness.

Now, Gino has realized how much his father and his legacy mean to him, and with the
encouragement of the mother goddess Gaia, herself, he's ready to tackle
his new place in the world. It's up to Gino to show the world how close he and his
father truly were...

Rosalie Gambino, formerly Rosalie Von Helson, was Johnny's beloved wife
and mother of his only son, Gino. Little was known about Rosalie, as Johnny
steadfastly refused to speak about her or the circumstances of their
marriage. The events surrounding her death only came to light for a
select few the night Ian and Louie were reunited. Even with these scant details
offered, the woman who was the centerpiece of the Gambino family remains an enigma.

Relatives

Damian (Ian) and Louie Von Helson are Rosalie's sons from her
marriage with Vladimir Von Helson, making them Gino's half-brothers.
Despite the lukewarm relations between the Von Helson brothers and Gino, they
still agreed to join forces to help put Nyx down.

Ambition, the titan-turned-mortal, was the direct ancestor of Johnny and Gino Gambino,
the one who passed on the ambitious trait that fueled Johnny's rise and Gino's
determination to defeat Nyx. With Ambition's blood reactivated in Gino, the
ambition of all of Gaia might be the key to defeating Nyx.

Meili, now deceased, was one of the primary gods in charge of the world and "the
apple of Gaia's eye." He is the one who created the titans, including Ambition,
making him the master of the Gambino line. Meili apparently kept track of his creation,
because he recognized Gino and tried to protect him, ultimately sacrificing his life to do so.

Gaia, Mother of all Creation, is also the mother of Meili. Though she does not
interfere directly in the affairs of the world, she does continue to watch over it,
including Ambition's descendant, Gino. She ties the Gambino line directly to
the creation of Gaia itself.

gaia_spoons A recent document has surfaced which shows that in 2004,
G Corp was purchased & incorporated by The Committee, which is owned
by Trust Corporation, which is a "Govt. of Gaia Undertaking." Now, according to
this 2000 interview with Gregory Donovinh (whom we assume is Cindy's father),
G Corp had already been a solid company for quite some time - long enough
for Edmund to be Head of Research for an indeterminate amount of time,
and then retire. What occurred to make this acquisition possible?

Why did TC purchase G Corp? Was it simply an investment, or did they
have aspirations of their own that they wished for G Corp to pursue?
Why did Johnny K begin making public appearances soon after the
incorporation? (His first Gaian appearance was at the First Annual Ball of
2004, at which he handed out G Pins - was less than a month after the
incorporation was finalized and before the document was even created.)

Hm... storyline-wise, I've always felt that the stories were all based around Gambino's struggles maintaining power. It was such a large part of the original stories that we based around the events in the forums, that it always felt like it should continue with him as the main character.

Of course, Gambino wouldn't be complete without the relationship with his son Gino, which was sort of loosely based around me and my dad before his passing.

I remember we always liked pitting really strong characters against each other, like Jack VS Santa, Gambino VS the Von Helsons, Labtechs VS zombies... there definitely would've been more clashes with strong power players and of course the love triangles with our main characters.

I've been catching up on the mangas since I've got my account back, and it looks like they've started to bring more species into gaia, like vampires, werewolves, elves and whatnot, and even Gods now. Not sure I would've gone there, but it's definitely a good way of introducing more factions and items related to those things so I can definitely see why they did that.

To be honest, I'm not sure where I would've taken things next, we were always hiding amongst the community and trying to shock them or do things that they didn't see coming. I challenge anyone to tell me they saw the Gino/Gambino merge coming. That storyline was like 2+ years in the making. xp

VO, you seem to remember a lot about the early days of plot. (Yay, that rhymed!) So before we delve more into the mechanics of our beloved G Corp, I have to ask. Who set fire to the Gambino mansion, and what was in that pill bottle?

VO

Ok, I'm gonna answer two questions from two different people here since they are both related in a way.

X - His motives have always been that of a whistle blower in the large conspiracy. He himself was an experiment gone and therefore he always made it a point to reveal what was really going on in G-Corp.

You'll notice that's why he tipped off the community in some events of G-corps inner workings. He also gave people the cure in one of the events as well I think. X had always known about the truth about Gino and Gambino's merge. That's why it was him who intervened at the cliffs, he tipped off Cindy Donovinh because he wanted the world to see the truth. If you'll also notice, at one point when Gino is morphing after X injects him, he yells "I should've gotten rid of you a long time ago." That's actually Gambino talking because X has always been a nuisance to him with regards to G-corp's secrets.

X released the Grunnies and destroyed the mansion to reveal to the world that Gino still had a lab.

Now, for the pill bottle... Basically, when the Gambino side of him started to resurface, Gino grew long hair, looked older, and started acting very unlike his former fragile self. He started showing signs and Labtech123(now doctor 12, the only surviving member of the original Labtechs) gave him those pills to surpress Gambino inside of him. When Ian saw it, he didn't quite understand it, but he knew that something was off about Gino and wanted Sasha to see that. Of course, he never really got the chance to, but Sasha found out the truth anyways. dramallama

Well, L0cke and I are huge fans of the original Mortal Kombat movie and the games as well. That photo, signed by Johnny K. himself(L0cke signed his name btw) was meant to be a nod to fictional action film star Johnny Cage.

Gino, like me, has no middle name.

The Von Helsons were never intended to be Vampires(Vampires were added into the storylines later on). I believe the original idea was that the Von Helson's would never come back after the Gambino mansion flattened them. We did toy around with the idea of bringing them back, but if we did, I remember we joked about the twins becoming one person... in that, in order to survive, the surgeons put the girls back together as one body using the salvageable parts of each girl. So you'd have this almost Frankenstein Von Helson monster. eek

Johnny Gambino is not just a rich figurehead. He is a hardworking, intelligent, altruistic man, with a heart as gold as the pins we wear today. His steadfast ambition and righteous love for all he holds dear is the reason the Gambino name will forever be associated with true greatness.

By the way, Jas, I thought you should know I put it entirely in the present tense just for you. Your faith is truly inspiring.

For those who missed my speech, here is a hard copy:

I've written countless speeches about Johnny K Gambino in my many years on Gaia. Ever since I first learned of Johnny in early 2004, he's been in a lot of tough spots. Now, when things get bumpy, you have two choices: run for the hills or stand your ground. In the past, every time Johnny has been cornered by fate, we've come through for him as a community. This was especially true after the events of December 2004, when we realized the real love Johnny had for his son, whom he thought he'd lost. Johnny's love was so strong for his son, he was ready and willing to say goodbye to a world without him. It was then that Gino appeared, stricken with amnesia. Even in such a state, his subconscious told him such a man was not ready to die. Johnny had more stories to tell. This is when most old Gaians truly fell in love with this man and his son.

A few months later, we were offered a chance to prove our love. Gino was kidnapped by the newly introduced Von Helson sisters. Suddenly, Gaians were taking sides, attacking each other, hellbent on proving their right. It was then I created the first Gambino Support Thread, in the Third Annual Ball forum. Only in a time of crisis did we realize real action had to be taken by the community. Soon after these events, the Gaia Community Discussion forum was created, giving the GST a new home base.

And again, Gaians were called on to stand with Johnny as he rebuilt his life from the rubble. Without us, Johnny never could have returned to power. Make no mistake, it was our love, support, blood, sweat and tears that lifted him up above the clouds. Through our undying will, we endowed the most powerful man in Gaia.

Even through death, after the tragic events of April 2005, we stood by Johnny. If you weren't there, you should have seen out terrified reactions. They closely paralleled the outcry of today. Even then, we received many condolences. But we did not give up hope. We did not stop. We did not waver. Unbeknown to us, this time, it was Gino's turn to save his father. We waited one long, cold, lonely year only to find Johnny had been with us all along. Our stubbornness in the face of death was rewarded. Just like Johnny, we never, ever gave up.

I am so proud, so very proud of everything we have accomplished. Most of all, I am proud of the strength of our will as people. New and old, we have gathered together again, to face that ever-present enemy, death. Johnny is no stranger to the fight. “By whatever means necessary,” he will come out victorious. He still has more stories to tell. As the glowing head in the sky, Lanzer, has said, “we'll never seen the end of Gambino.”

Through zombies, snipers, falling off skyscrapers, burnt down mansions, vampire attacks, through death, through hell itself, we will never falter. We will never accept defeat. Johnny will survive in our invincible souls. Each of us has a piece of him within our heart. Our love now is stronger than ever. Even now, gathering together again, like so many times before, our invaluable community is bringing life to Johnny K. Gambino. He will always be with us.

The most valuable, the most powerful thing he'll ever own is our faith and loyalty.

I will try to keep this brief. (hehehhh why am I laughing)
Huge drama in 2004 and onward. I THIIIINK that's when they were first introduced, but I am not sure there. My knowledge only really starts around Halloween 2k4, since that's where I started sorta paying attention, so I'll start there. xD; (I failed when I first joined, yeah.)
Johnny owns/runs (past tense here maybe?) G-Corp, which does a lot of... questionable science. Those lovable zombie creatures from the olympics last summer, those were a failure. Halloween 2004, they succeeded in reviving life, sort of. Zombies, yeah. Awesome. Well, as always happens with zombie drama, it escaped and started infecting the masses of party guests there to celebrate Halloween, because Gambino likes to live with his work, or something, and has his mansion connected to the labs. Rather than just let us all die, Gambino issued us with shotguns with which to defend ourselves, X mysteriously started selling Vials of Unknown Liquid on the MP which cured zombieism, and it was all very suspicious. Then Bucho initiated Silent Flash which destroyed the mansion and its inhabitants, and the G-Virus. That was that, Johnny survived, and Gino was missing, presumed dead.
Christmas 2004, Johnny doesn't know what to do. He is so heartbroken without his only son that he goes to Durem Reclamation Facility to just end it all, when Gino himself miraculously appears and saves him, out of the kindness of his own heart since he's contracted amnesia and has no idea who Johnny even is. Sad!
2005, the Von Bitches- I mean Von Helson sisters show up trying to pass themselves as the "most powerful women in Gaia." Bullshit. They've got their little home in Durem, they're rich and snotty, and not even that pretty. They host the second Gaia Anniversary Ball (jerks) and Johnny crashes the party. The girls take Gino hostage and make Johnny promise to never set foot in Durem again to get his son back. He agrees, and they leave. He starts rebuilding his mansion, with aid from users' donations, and it becomes a HUGE CRAZY TOWER THAT DEFIES THE LAWS OF EVERYTHING because he's a Gambino and he can do that. He's gone MAD WITH POWER, MAD and on April 1st, 2005, he stands atop his tower BWAHHAHAHAing with madness, Gino shows up and miraculously remembers who his father is, it's magical and then JOHNNY IS SHOT (by Zhivago, the jerk) and falls from his perch, as Gino leaps after him, and they merge into one through the magic of science and both disappear for a while.
THEN IT GETS BETTER. Later that year, I think, Sasha finds (Gam)Gino on the beach and kiss-of-lifes him, nurses him back to health, (Gam)Gino takes over the family business and promises NO SECRETS KAY and falls in love with Sasha. He burns down the mansion (destructo-boy! just like his papa), is presumed dead AGAIN, but miraculously returns "in disguise" as The Masque between Halloween and Christmas. Masque hosts a fancy New Year's ball, kisses Sasha, ooooh romance, cute. Early 2006 (really? this feels wrong), GamGino is full of manly rage and testosterone and challenges Ian to a fight to the death over Sasha. Labtech X (who is Johnny's clone, betcha didn't know that! lol kidding, but it's true) interferes, injects Gino with an antidote, and there's a BIG EXPLOSION (the Gambino signature move) as Johnny and Gino seperate into two people again.
So Johnny's a widower, clearly, Gino's got a mom, her name is Rosalie and she was killed some years ago by Vladimir, which is where Ian and Louie came from, YEAH. She's been a source of emotional drama for the Gambinos and everyone since forever, even though we know pretty much NOTHING about her. That's AWESOME. Johnny hates vampires because of it, though, like, murderously. (he's so sexy when he's got his killing face on~)
Gino is currently living with Liam not because he's a bum, but because Johnny kicked him out to protect him from the evil vampires, and the kid's got self esteem issues.
That got kinda skewed in favor of my tastes towards the... all of it.
I should go back at a later time and pick out the actual important crap... xD;

My fellow Gaians, we have arrived at a pivotal moment in our Great Land's history. Our great friend and beloved leader, Johnny K. Gambino, has fallen onto very harsh times. Beginning with the events at his Mansion; he was forced to watch as his mansion was destroyed and his fortune lost, as well as lose his only son. Now, these girls, the Von Helsons, have come and declared themselves to be the new "Most Powerful Persons in Gaia." These women are nothing more than a couple upstarts. Even though the zombie incident was partially his fault, did Gambino not give us weapons with which to defend ourselves? Also, was it not this man that opened his Market to us? He even opened the GGN to all of Gaia. And now, in his time of greatest need, these upstarts are trying to have us turn our eyes to them, and away from Gambino. My fellow Gaians, I implore you, let not your minds be swayed! Do not lose touch with what you know in your hearts to be right! We must now aid the one that has done so much for us! Let us join together, and get rid of these upstarts! Then, once the Von Helsons are no more! We shall turn to Gambino, and we shall do all in our power to help him rebuild his mansion. Let us band together, as one, to restore to power the man that should be, nay, the man that has EARNED the right to be known throughout the land as The Most Powerful Man in all of Gaia. Now, let us go, and return this great man to his rightful place!
