Today we’d like to take a moment of your time to inform you of a scam going around. This scam involves your mobile phone and the scammers making charges to your phone. The scam works like this:
Look Out For
- A user will tell you that they can give you gold or items, but in order to do this they will need your cell phone number.
If you give this user your phone number, they will tell you that you should receive a text with a PIN. They will then tell you to give them that PIN so they can give you the gold.
What the scammer is actually doing is using your phone number to make a mobile phone charge for Gaia Cash. By giving them the PIN, you are authorizing the transaction to go through. This will charge to your phone bill and actually cost you money.
Protect Yourself
So what can you do to avoid this scam? Here are a few simple steps to follow:
- Do not give out your cell phone and report the user who asks you for it. Place the user on your ignore list to prevent them from contacting you in the future.
If you receive a text similar to this...

... And you did not initiate, then do not give anyone that PIN and delete the message.
