This is why I'm confused. There doesn't seem to be much point unless all gold were to be converted to platinum upon login, which would cease the gold inflation and bring it back down. This of course would only work if every way to gain platinum also matched what rewards were before inflation.

I hope this works! It sounds like it'll be a bit confusing.

Will there be a limit to prices in platinum on the marketplace? (sorry if that question was already asked, I'm just curious as to how the inflation will be fought, since it can't be as easy as just introducing a new currency)

I understand how this could potentially help inflation but I feel a mere 10M is not enough to make a difference. Maybe making 1B = 1 Platinum would be better? Though I'm only basing this off of the fact you can get 1B easily if you can tree farm in LK. And if the lowest you can list an item in the MP is 1B, then a lot of items would get inflated to that price...

they are doing it gradually, if it was that big of a drop, people wouldn't use the plat system. I sure had wouldn't. Not only that, but that means you couldn't buy any small ticket items for less then 1 bil out of the gold shops. I think that there 10m is a good start.

True, start off small first then go higher if it's not working so well. I just think that compared to all the items that cost either billions or trillions of gold, millions being converted won't do much? Well, I am hoping for the best though. The inflation definitely needs to be handled.

Here's the thing though , your not taking into account the fact that there are a lot of items in the gold shops that are way less then 10 mil gold, and your thought process is going to force people or to pay 1 billion gg for a 5gg item. That's just not right sad

That logic works the same way with 10M. Now items that were worth less than 10M are worth 10M. It is easier to get 10M compared to 1B though so I understand. I feel like there isn't a way to really lower prices in the MP if people continue listing them higher. I am not exempt from this either as I try to get the amount I got the item for which can sometimes be higher than ABP.

I'm not quite sure this would in anyway address the inflation. Items would still end up hyper-inflated and unavailable to anyone who doesn't spend a pretty penny on the site or grind LK.
Bring back older release items that are sought out in MP into a new store, supply changes weekly, or monthly, or even if you're extremely dedicated, daily. This would work perfectly as a gold sink, especially if someone's been trying to get an item and either the said item is hyper-inflated or just not listed in MP for months.
