The best couple would have been Aeris and Cloud but sephiroth killed her. At least he made the decision for Cloud seeing as if he couldn't. Seeing Cloud and Barret together would be funny as hell.

Cloud and Aeris were by far the cutest couple. i mean come on! I mean if they wernt so cute would we play it year after year trying to find a way to save her even though we know it cant be done?
